The gun is very very good, expect for the stupid sights. The front sight on mine was too high and the pistol shot low. I changed sights to Ameriglo FN-201, now I it shoots dead center. Tight groups at 25 yards not a problem. It is a modern single action pistol with trigger pull of 4 lbs, very reliable and comfortable to shoot. It is not cheap but it is full size steel frame gun, which is suitable for concealed carry and for long range shooting. It shoots like a decent quality 9mm 1911, but with 17 rounds capacity and less malfunctions. Actually, no malfunctions after about 2000 rounds.
Looks like a cerakote type finish hence why the colors match. I doubt it's anodizing. The slide is steel and I believe the frame is as well. Anodized steel isn't a finish I've ever seen or heard of though Im sure it's possible. Usually it's anodized aluminum or titanium
Nice review Matt. Other than the cheapy grips looks like really good fit and finish. Pay attention Colt! Glad that it resembles the older Hi-Powers too. The ambi controls are a nice touch for the lefties also. A nice option for those folks who might want a defensive option that is made of steel and has a hammer. Personally, I'm feelin' it!
After FN offered it for decades, then stopped making them, then made them again, then stopped, and then made them again, Id say they've trolled us long enough. At least it works well enough and has some modern features. Colt and Kimber better pay attention!
Agreed that it is a more modern version of the original 1935 Hi-Power. IMO, FN should have introduced this design 10-20 years ago, along with retaining the Mk III design. Not many newer shooters want to carry a single action pistol for CC or even to have at home for "things that go bump in the night". I would be interested to see how sales of the "new" Hi-Power are. One thing going for it, is that they eliminated the hammer bite. I actually have a scar on the webbing of my hand from shooting the Hi-Power and some 1911's a lot. Anyway, great review! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving! But........ It's NOT A COLT!
I love my FN guns. But FN has a habit of quickly discontinuing their products. Especially right after I buy it. FNS, FNX, 503. Worse yet FN completely leaves their customer without after purchase support. They absolutely refuse to sell you parts even as basic as a recoil spring. Forcing you to go to the sole provider of FN parts, Midwest Gun Works, who is perpetually out of stock on nearly every part for every model. This gun has nearly no positive reviews and I see FN discontinuing it soon.
When I read this, I thought I wrote it. I feel the same way. I bought a FNP-9 USG in 2009. It bed my dream 9mm. I probably over paid. As you indicated no more support. No one even makes mags for it. Disappointed big time. I’ll probably not buy FN guns in the future.
It's nice, but if I had a choice between this and a classic Hi-Power with a tuned trigger, disconnected mag safety, good modern sights, etc., I'd grab the classic. Maybe it's just historical nostalgia.
Another great video WGP. I was in the process of purchasing a SA-35 based on your review but this video has given me second thoughts. Price not being an issue, which would be your first choice for carry? The FN, SA-35 or CZ-75? Keep up the great work!
Nice pistol, great review. Big knock is the $$, on the expensive side. Service size pistols are everywhere, very competitive market, can they make a go of this pistol. ???
Considering that probably not a single part of this is compatible with the Gen1, I do not see why they did not make it DA in a CZ style. You could then still carry it cocked and locked (which nobody would do anyway) or DA, but you would have a whole new buyer´s club. As it is, I do not see a good reason to buy this instead of any nice metal DA pistol.
Very good review. I always loved hi powers,I am blessed to have two. I would buy this gun, l am sure it is good, but I have no interest in owning another 9mm pistol.
Those grips would drive me crazy 😜

Nice pistol! I agree with you about the grips & the grip screws. It would have been nice & easy enough to do right from the factory. 👍👍

You’re probably right. Makes sense that it would be cerakote.

It’s a really good Mike 🤠
Great review Matt. Overall a nice gun, but needs better fitting grips. Thank you for sharing.
Those marks on the trigger indicate MIM part. Shouldn't be an issue.
I been watching gun channels for years now , urs by far is my favorite, I hope you get 1 million followers
Thanks man. I appreciate that. 🤠

New subscriber. Love your channel! Happy Hollidays!
Thanks for the sub man. Merry Christmas my friend 🎄
Interesting you say this gun feels thin. I didn’t expect that.
We’ve been curious about this new variant.

Will the old "Hi-power" Grips fit it? Good video bro! I've been a Hi Power fan for decades and I have some nice grips.
Neither grips nor mags fit. Bright , very bright👎
Nice pistol, great review. Big knock is the $$, on the expensive side. Service size pistols are everywhere, very competitive market, can they make a go of this pistol. ???
Good point. It’s gonna be really tough with all the great pistols out there for half the price or less of this handgun.
Put some tape around the grips..give it some character lol .
🤣
The hammer definite looks like mim but it looks like a really nice gun.

I much prefer the classic
That’s fair. Thanks for watching 🤠
$1200 gun with $0.25 grips; embarrassing

At least they give you two sets of them.
Clunker. Big mistake from FN
