I'm 51 years old and it trips me out that I had this kid on my shoulders at Tampa Am in 1999 chanting along with Clyde Singleton on the mic "LITTLE MAN... LITTLE MAAAAN... LITTLE MAAAAANNNN...." Just stoked to see the longevity on the guy. He has really paid his dues.
Since Ryan brought up SLS Chicago, I'd like to add this: We sat in the front left corner (from where the skaters are facing when they start) near the recreated sea wall obstacle. Ryan not only watched every single skaters run but he also stood at the bottom of the stairs closest to us to meet & greet all the fans. It seemed like thousands of people lined up and for well over an hour, he took time to acknowledge every single person that waited and approached him and didn't leave that spot until each and every one of them got an autograph or a picture or just a chance to say what's up. Very, very humble, respectful and down to Earth dude still to this day and it was crazy to meet him in person. Only good things to say and if you read this Ryan, we all still love an support you. Stoked to see the part drop Friday and good luck to you in all of your endeavors. Cheers from Chicago!
Ryan is a class act. Not many people can get handle the attention and money thrown at him at such a young age, go through a rough patch, and come out in such a good place. Just hearing how he described supporting another young skater by encouraging him to be a kid first is a thing of beauty. Less savory individuals would be looking at it as an investment first and putting too much pressure on a little dude. The skate community in general is just overflowing with some of the most interesting and decent human beings I’ve seen in any sport/art/ or industry. Hats off to that guy. Absolute legend.
Everytime I see a Nine Club episode with Shecks, it make me want to do better in my life as well. Thank you Ryan. Your words really do resonate with some of us, especially me. Love you bro.
Ryan has come such a long ass way. It's really impressive to see someone who can take an honest look at everything they have done, good or bad, and learn from it. Props to you man!
Good work fellas. Ryan’s the man and I’m glad he’s so open to talking about himself. On a silly note, would like to see who wins between Kelly and Shecks in a thumb war
I am so SO stoked to see that sparkle back in this man's eye. That old Sheckler glint, a wry smile, and one helluva skater! I've had a Sheckler Plan B on my wall for years, good to have you back, my dude!
I just watched the Sheckler interview from a year ago and then this pops up on my feed! 👌🏻 I’m glad Ryan got the help he needed with his alcohol addiction, he’s a good dude and a huge inspiration to a lot of people including myself. Can’t wait for his Red bull project coming out 🎉
I respect how genuine and wholesome Ryan is !! He remains true to himself and doesn’t change for anyone!! It is refreshing to see someone nowadays who isn’t fake or phony !! He made some missteps along the way , but haven’t we all !! Keep up the excellent work 9 club !!
Ryan has been my idol for so long, I never knew he could help me the same way he helped himself. struggling with addictions and learning to be clear! THANK YOU RYAN!
hearing new dads talk when the dad loves the experience of parenthood is always good to hear. especially in a intact parental household. its nice. i used to travel for work, a week at a time a little over once a month, and it was terrible. i had to stop. i kept missing moments. Some moments you only get one chance. if you can help it, dont miss them.
Its really cool to see how cool Sheckler turned out, after all that fame and crazy stuff he could've went down a bad path, you gotta respect his determination and I'm hyped for the documentary now :)
1:09:43 - I've worked on other kinds of creative product releases and big marketing campaigns, so I could sympathize with Ryan throughout this podcast in not wanting to put *too* much out before a 'release date'. And skate parts are so special because they LITERALLY take the blood sweat and tears of their creator, so there's an understandable intense attachment there in wanting to present it in the *exact* way you want. But the realness from Chris at that timestamp is SO good and needed, and is part of what makes him such a good host. Having that person in the room for a creative project is invaluable. Great episode all!
This was a great episode. It has been wild watching the journey this dude has been through, what an unreal life all things told. Great interview as always guys.
Lifer was gnarly. Ryan absolutely should be proud, especially as long as he’s been skating. Love seeing the older generation still progressing. Very inspiring for a 30+ year old skater like me!
Sheckler has been a huge inspiration to me since I was 12 years old. Seeing someone the same age as me skate with grown ass men and going even bigger than most of them gave me huge motivation to risk my life on big drops. My compounded disk was worth it 😂 Thank you Ryan Sheckler!
49:10 when sheckler is talking about contests and stuff for those who don’t know…. Ryan sheckler was nyjah Huston at one point… he was winning EVERY thing especially the dew tours and back then they were bigger than they are now and he was a dog man. Skating street wasn’t even his thing like that he was just murdering contests and he was so competitive. Watching him skate in his young years it felt like watching Kobe play for the Lakers he had that type of intensity and focus so to hear him say he doesn’t know if he can get back to that it’s so interesting because if you witnessed young sheckler for at least 12 of those years lol he wasn’t human
Yo, Skeckler! tks for all the love you've been showing to Fabrízio Santos (frog face, as we call him here in Brazil!). Dude is a legend! So are you! Much love!
Oh wow!! First time I was aware of Ryan, was when I went to Cali in 2001.... Went to Umerica when I was 19yrs on a skate trip with some friends, and we saw a magazine where there was this little kid like 8yrs old just absolutely shredding evervything thing!! Wow, how things went for him!! I'm 41 now and not been skating much, but hell I want to get back on my board!! Obviosly, not doing flip tricks or anything, but just cruising and carving in bowls and pools, that feeling is the best!! Glad to see Ryan is back on it!! Skate true forever!!!
Sheckler got a lot of shit for “selling out” in the early 2000’s for the MTV shit. But at the end of the day, Ryan has always been a die hard skater. He was young, he was good, he was popular. All he ever wanted to do was skate and bring skateboarding to the masses. He always wanted to share his love of skateboarding to everyone. Which I respected. Now that skateboarding has taken such a mainstream turn, we can all agree that Ryan’s always been ahead of his time. He always had a vision for skateboarding that was 5-10 years ahead of schedule. The fact that he’s still here, still going as big as possible shows that it wasn’t just for money. He is a lifer. No pun intended. He’s helped with making sure the future generations of skaters get paid too which is super dope. Growing up we only ever saw skaters like Tony Hawk, Muska, and Dyrdek making millions a year. Now you’ve got so many more skaters living comfortably thanks to people like Sheckler. All praise and love to him for still doing it when he has every reason not to.
I Love that you guys mentioned Nick Dompierre in this episode!!! He's my home and I'm so happy for him, can we Please get another episode or a stop and chat with him, that would be soo rad!!! Love you guys, another great episode as usual!!!
Dudes. Sick episode. This is by far the BEST skating content on the interwebs. The nostalgia and memories of my skating days are alive and well. Bout to dust off the ol deck I got stashed. And Sheckler you’re the man. Keep on keeping on. In recovery myself and appreciate anybody I grew up watching getting sober and getting better. Keep inspiring bros.
Ryan has come such a long way in life and I’m skateboarding. So proud of this dude, and much respect. Absolutely stoked about seeing him in SLS again. Also I’m gonna take his advice and set up a bigger board. Been thinking about it for a while now
This interview has so much depth. RyanSheckleris the best no lie. Watching content on him really inspired me to do better and be better. It would really be cool to see him compete again, after everything hes been through he really deserves it.
Its great to see he is doing well.. people don’t realize how extremely hard it is to quit the demons of addiction so congrats to Ryan for that cuz ive been there also and its one of the hardest things I’ve went through plus now he’s feeling the pain even more. Still young he’s got many years to skate. He def has an amazing career and to start skating at 2 that’s amazing and Tampa pro at 7.. raw talent congrats on new board co. !
7:19 Sheriff Dave needs a huge promotion. That dude is so fucking rad for not only allowing the best in the world who can skate, film their trick, but also fucking shuts it down by blocking traffic. Like come on bro! We need more of those officers!
Nice to see Chris is feeling in good shape and looking in good shape too, mindfulness and just staying and living in a healthy routine really helps in so many aspects of life. Great interview once again. Thank you nine club
Grew up skating 7.75 in the late 90’s and 2000s started skating again about 6 months again after a 10 year break started again on a 7.75 and quickly jumped up to a 8.5 … my flip tricks I don’t have them any more so the plank I’m skating feels great for shuv-its 180s ledges and flat bars at the park
Next time you could film the talk about the ender clip (where you show it) and cut it out for the episode. After the part has dropped you can upload the section as a single video.
It really is isn’t it. Great people are often forged in their mistakes and adversity and whatnot. Seems like such a self aware dude now. Awesome to see someone land where he’s at right now.
I would 100% love to see a contest with ladies and gents for sure....level the playing field....its all about talent & skill not gender, awesome episode, cant wait for Friday!!!!! YEWWWWWWWW!!!!! Shecks!!!
Check our Ryan's new part "LIFER" ua-cam.com/video/avhShpnOOvg/v-deo.html
Such a heavy part with a gnarly song to capture it all!! He raised the bar with this part🍻
I though the 9 club Stopped the show.
I’m so glad they didn’t
It’s the best talk show on Skateboarding 🛹 culture

Same age. Trips me out seeing kids grow up in skateboarding. I'm enjoying the long view of it all.
Word, same age
Dr Laura and Big Brother
This is a good kid man!
I was just thinking the same exact thing.
Wow what a wild story! Thanks for sharing🫡
Now shecks all about helping the kids 💯 full circle

It’s so fun to listen to you guys talk. It’s a real escape, this little nine club. Nicest dudes on the internet.
Ryan is a class act. Not many people can get handle the attention and money thrown at him at such a young age, go through a rough patch, and come out in such a good place. I don't view you guys as Just a podcast...You guys are inspirational ❤🛹
He really has matured into a great guy
I can’t help compare his life to Bam.. major props to Ryan and wishes Bam can find a similar path to health & contentment
So cool to see him mentoring kids that are where he was when he was younger.
Such a cool dude and absolute assassin on a skateboard. He was ahead of his time and has contributed so much to the skateboard community.
Thanks for the love Shecks! Love you brother. 👊🏼😎
Good work fellas. Ryan’s the man and I’m glad he’s so open to talking about himself.
On a silly note, would like to see who wins between Kelly and Shecks in a thumb war
I am glad to see Ryan doing well, he has grown a lot and it's great to see him focus on things that really matter.
Shout out to Sheriff Dave, he is a dude that we all need in every city.
I'm 38. I started again. I enjoy teaching my son JJ who is 4. Hopefully he can be Sheckler 3.0
I’m 34 and just got back into it recently. I’m loving it. Hope you guys have fun bro
Also 34 and just back into it. Been 14 years and I'm so happy to be back.
I'm 50 years old and still use double pits to chesty. Much love Ryan.
Happy to hear the George Costanza method worked for Shecks!

If every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right 😅
I am so SO stoked to see that sparkle back in this man's eye. That old Sheckler glint, a wry smile, and one helluva skater!

Super happy he is back, his first episode is one of my favourites
ryan looks so good and healthy man. even compared to his last episode. congrats
Let's go. You guys are my favorite podcast no doubt.

Respect for the humility and self reflection…good on you Ryan

Lifer was gnarly. Ryan absolutely should be proud, especially as long as he’s been skating. Love seeing the older generation still progressing. Very inspiring for a 30+ year old skater like me!
Most skate companies and teams are focused on the present. Ryan is building skateboardings future! 🙌
By far one of my favorite all time skaters. His vibes his tricks his dedication just him as an overall human being very inspirational
Mac n Cheese, Chicken Fingers...Yes Please!!!

I know what you mean, doing consistent kickflips on a 8.5 took me some time to get down.
Ryan is the man
Wyatt is amazing in all aspects of his life. Jenny & Andrew are all around great parents.
