The first step is to admit you got a drinking problem, then it's up to you to come with what is best for you but you'll figure it out, we all do to some point in our life. Stay strong.

Ryan and I are the same age and grew up with him through his journey skateboarding and through the show. Proud to see him still doing great and feeling good ✊🏽
I just rewatched Shecks 15 years on Etnies yesterday, he’s 100% in my top 5 favourite skaters of all time. I used to watch Sheckler Sessions all the time and be so stocked to skate, I never could get good and watching my favourite skaters actually made me angry cuz all my tricks were sloppy. Watching Shecks kick flip the Costco gap so perfectly gnarly but annoying, reminded me I’d never get anywhere in skating. Would love to see Chris Cole, Jamie Thomas or Tommy Sandoval on the podcast
Ryan is why I picked up a skateboard at 27. I’m 40 now. Wild. Anyhow, I was all about MTV and I saw his show, but that’s what got me in the local shop. I had a janky setup, and I got his deck as my first pro along with his Sheckler 1 Etnies. I had all his stuff. I had gotten sober in 2006, and I too was sober 2 years thanks to my own will and skateboarding. I got to this point I was like yeah I bet I could social drink. Though I did accomplish staying sober till night, instead of drinking the day etc, it turned back to that and I sold all my Sheck decks. Had a wall man. I fell in a deep hole. Never got to go to Tampa Am with friends to meet him. Still a dream to do so. I got sober again 2016, and I’m now 4 years and 2 months sober at 40. Now, I’m not badass skater. I just roll, I can rollin, pump a half pipe, just have fun. COVID been hard. I hate to hear Ry is fighting alcohol too, but it makes me feel better, knowing this guy that matters so much to me, is fighting and being successful like me too. I hope one day I can get my picture with you man, sign my deck and say thanks. I don’t have my old crew anymore, but I’ll get there next one sober. Thanks for everything!

Hearing you guys talk about being off alcohol is inspiring. Part because I remember meeting Ryan in Barca and I talked him into some green fairy "Absence" shots which turned into one hell of a crazy drunken night and looking back I wish I was more sensible. Being an Irish man I drink nearly must nights and sleep like shit. I think my acceptance of growing up around alcohol in Ireland really has effected the way I see drinking. But I should know better and stop using it as an excuse for doing it. I really need to curve my drinking and be more present in my life for my family.
@@blindingshadow3463 well it was my fault to be honest. It's better then seeing him on Coca or Acid. You do realise skaters take more then just drink...
@@blindingshadow3463 Yeah just met the dude in a Bar in Barca. I was already steaming with the crew when we turned up. Seen him at the bar and started chatting and offered him a shot. To be honest can't remember much after that only getting my phone stolen by a pick pocket and catching the guy and then seven lads running after us... You'll never see three drunk lads skate so fast 😂
for him to skate at the level he does and the precision he does, i can see why he has good intuition. His ability to see little details in a sort of slow motion likely plays a big part in why he is so good.
I think the question about his parents divorce and his money was totally normal as it's a common story of young famous kids' parents stealing their money 🤷🏻♀️ don't feel bad Steve-o
15 months sober and he nails the obsession part. I firmly think you can be a full blown alcoholic even if you only drink once a week. If you can't stop thinking about drinking when you're not you may have a problem. Didn't even know he was an alcoholic. Good shit!
Good to see comment, yea kory and others here i think what was real traditional values about abstaining from Alcohol like for example in Muslims religion islam there is a totally abstaining from alcohol rule, I think it make good sense to protect the general overall community of people, to protect masses from the really big harm it become from some of too many of drinkers , even also for bible & Torah new and old testament belief according to that alcohol is not a good thing this part of belief / or traditional values if you will use this term I think make very good sense for best for humans beings, even tho sadly it is something that most people in our time here in west have left totally and is too common and engrained here in the west even tho it is much more harm and big danger, problems related to it than good commung from it even tho some may say I only drink very little some start like that and sudeebyly eith out realising they get addicted also this about one time a week drinking like those in weekend have also harm so both can be potential danger. I think different rules values like this point to theese tesditional values oberiginal belief from creator God for what i good for humans and similarity shows all came for message belief in one creator and worship him alone with out worshiping others (monotheism) and that oberiginally like theese religions where sent by same God creator like moses jewism, christianity and islam, all belief in one god in one creator of universe, just later first teo example how changed rules like about alcohol and other aspect about belief and about rules of life values how to life believe just in islam this is something that still are oberiginal and same like what was ment oberiginally in first teo messages that later was changed so last message for mankind I think is worth to take a look on for many good things for life and for herafter after life if accepting believing having in one life. www.onereason.org/ www.manyprofetsonemessage.com

35:13 Dude, it sounds like he's describing me. I'm trying to slow my roll, but I basically go through hell around 3 or 4, wanting to drink. When I go hard, I basically waste away the day up until 3 or 4, not giving af.
Sobriety gave me back my surfing and skating, drinking didnt care about me at all. It took me 4 years to fully pull the brakes once I knew I had to stop ,start now. Check out ONLINE AA ,its all here FREE.

@@blindingshadow3463 well it was my fault to be honest. It's better then seeing him on Coca or Acid.
You do realise skaters take more then just drink...
I am flabbergasted ......
. I thought absinthe was alcohol, or are you saying you were blowing rails with the dude? Lol I just wanna hear your ryan sheckler absinthe story bro
FAR OUT! I was literally just thinking yesterday. When is STEVE-O going to print his own skateboard?
I hope to see Jeff Tremaine in a future podcast. I can imagine he has some killer Jackass and Steve-O stories.
No one can make me laugh the way Steve-O does. Love this dude.
You should auction off the last "Steve O first edition skateboard" for charity, that would be dope.
Peru 🇵🇪 is present!!!!🐶🐶🐶🐶 From the streets of Cusco to CA!!! 🏄 🌴 🌞 now she speak English!! I am so proud of her!!!
Oh gravity why can’t we stick together! My favorite show!
Love Ryan Sheckler! Hope to see him do more stuff!❤️
Last time I saw these two together I was playing THUG 2 on gamecube
Thats the definition of success to me , not being rich , famous etc etc , but having everything an still being humble , nice an down to earth
I think the question about his parents divorce and his money was totally normal as it's a common story of young famous kids' parents stealing their money 🤷🏻♀️ don't feel bad Steve-o
Hell yeah Steve-0 keep skating and live the rad life. Much love from this older skateboarder!!!
Awesoem episode as always!🤘🏻💀🤘🏻
Would love to see one with Henry Rollins🔥
Me too
Im late for this one but enjoyed it. I always be a fan of skateboarding.. Thnks Ryan..
15 months sober and he nails the obsession part. I firmly think you can be a full blown alcoholic even if you only drink once a week. If you can't stop thinking about drinking when you're not you may have a problem. Didn't even know he was an alcoholic. Good shit!
Truth, if that once a week/ month is a heavy binge w blackouts, fights and arrests, it's easily worse than a couple a day to relax.
@@zak-a-roo264 Ya think?

Thanks Steve-O!! Just bought the signed deck \m/ Keep up the awesome work! Can't wait to get another pic w/ you whenever you roll through Indiana again!
35:13 Dude, it sounds like he's describing me.
I'm trying to slow my roll,
but I basically go through hell around 3 or 4, wanting to drink.
It gets easier the more time you spend away. Keep busy to keep it off your mind. It is hard but not impossible. Life gets better when you are in control but it takes time.
Wow dude, he’s a whole grown ass man now. Very well articulated, smart, down to Earth and humble.
Didn’t know he was in recovery
20 some years later and there is nothing bad for me to say about Ryan. Such a genuine and nice guy. Had no idea about his problems with sobriety. It all put a lot in perspective for me..
Woah then Steve-O hits me with the Fix Your Lid sponsor. Legit the only brand I have ever bought of men’s pomade/hair products. Hell yeah dude!
Steve-O telling me too look after my body and be healthy.
What's happening with the world.
🤣🤣
I’ve met Ryan be for and he was super nice and very patient with his fans seems like a good kind hearted dude
I came for Shecks and stayed for the 🐶
💨💨
This is dope steveO, good guest man, Ryan Sheckler is the best skateboarder of all time in my opinion, nice kick flip at the end
Watching Wendy draped across Steve with my kitty draped across my lap
Oh man the nostalgia. I was 12 when he was winning all those contests at 13. I became obsessed and followed him, watched every episode of his show.
I want a girl that looks at me the way Wendy looks at Steve-O.....
Wow what a great podcast! Ryan is so rad and an inspiration. And cool to hear he is in AA and a believer in Jesus.
HEllll YEAHHHH DUUDEEE!!!
