I had no idea you can use layer styles to keep the shadow orientation. My current workaround was to link the drop shadow direction to an angle control effect, which seems to achieve the same thing. Layer styles seems more straightforward though!

Are you able to use custom map files (ie fictional maps from video games, books, etc) in Geolayers? If not, what would be the best way to animate custom maps?

Love the videos! Could you make a tutorial similar to your cypres video, but for historical mappers that need high precision in animating how the frontline moves?
A circle that fills up a map wont be usable for accurate historical mapping. Or could you please suggest a tool in AE to achieve that? Would be eternally greatful.

It's in the Effects and Presets panel. Just search it in the keyword search bar. It's only available in the latest version of AE 2023.

Thanks! Check your view options. There's a checkbox in there to view those handles.
