UPA is 100% focused on making money with 0% focus on anything related to the sport of pickleball, fairness, competitiveness, rec players, etc. If you look at every action they take you will see this. Kudos to Selkirk for authoring the letter but I honestly don't think UPA gives a flying f*ck and won't change a thing and Joola will step up with even more money given to UPA to get Selkirk out of the PPA paddle competition and it wouldn't surprise me if this was a conspiracy between UPA and Joola to remove all other competitors from the sport.
Beyond frustrating. Seeing how fast the sport is still growing, it doesnt seem like the testing/protocols will ever catch up to these paddles. And no one seems to know what’s happening with the Joola 3S (gen3). They ship out 8/29 and it’s the exact same paddle.
@@wolf-xf6hfNo. We do have a Olympically recognized federation, but UPA will not and cannot send any of their signed pros to the Olympics. Only USAP can do that.
Just an FYI you reference kg's in the video on several occasions, but the letters seem to indicate deflection in lbs only. There's obviously a significant difference between the two. Thanks for your efforts!
Shocking there was not one fact check of Barnes allegations. As a journalist who went to Harvard you should know better. Journalism 101 go to the source and at least as for a comment about the allegations. If you really want to be taken seriously lazy journalism is not the way to go .
I fully support the orginal decision by USAP to delist the Gen 3 since it was not the one that was appproved last year. However, the Mod TA which was approved last year is not much different than the Gen 3. From what I have reseached, the MOD TA and the Gen 3 are the same internally, except the Gen3 has a slightly grittier surface. I hope USAP will reconsider approving the Gen 3, but it maybe too late since there's a lawsuit pending.
It’s a matter of time until Selkirk becomes APP and USAP biggest sponsor similar to how joola owns PPA. This won’t stop until the PPA/UPA becomes financially viable….until then, cash is key.
Over the past few years the ppa has been having their own rules to begin with. Then you add in MLP and now upa to the mix. Pickleball is becoming a big joke now with the 2 certifications now for paddles. Pro pickleball will never. And I mean never be taken seriously. If this is going to be what pro pickleball is going to be. As far as pro players with their attitude towards tennis pros coming over to play pickleball. These are the same pros that played college tennis and didn’t have much of a future in pro tennis. There are few with no tennis backgrounds and I’m not including them in that group. The upa umbrella of organizations is a fn joke. They’re ruining a sport that has a potential of really becoming something cool and not a fad
Pickle conspiracy: Joola releases Gen3, knowing it will get delisted Joola releases MOD TA which is approved but is identical to Gen3 to discredit USAP Joola already has Gen3S ready to go to usher in UPA as governing body
Hasn't Selkirk colluded with USAP. An exclusive relationship to coop USAP volunteers to become Selkirk brand ambassadors ? You would imagine USAP wouldn't agree to this with out being paid?
My point is they are hypocrites . Suggesting USAP is the way to go is the same as saying don't disrupt my business model using USAP to sell my paddles . Most of this letter is about alleged conflicts of interest . Selkirk is the king of conflicts with USAP.
I can see joola now owns both USA pickleball and UPA: mod ta15 approved by USA pickleball and gen 3s approved by UPA. Same exact paddle. It's called a win-win.
What is your basis for saying a paddle with double the grit on the spiniest paddle is what would be necesary to fail the UPAA RPM test? My understanding is that 2200 represents the outer limit of paddles currently in play at UPAA sanctioned pro tournaments . These are important issues . Please check your facts .
Easy. Where is your basis for 2200 RPM coming from? People serving the paddle and measuring resulting spin. The process UPA uses is very different involving shooting a ball at a static paddle. It will not measure nearly the same amount of spin as the serving process, allowing for paddles with significantly more grit to pass. I know my facts :)
How is someone serving a ball replicable testing? . Impossible to repeat same paddle speed time after time . for results to be considered usefull data you need inbound velocity a constant . This is true measuring spin or exit velocity .
Actually very little difference in RPM a fixed paddle or a paddle free to move. In lab setting either way you have data that is useful to set a spin limit . No one has ever published research or written an astm on the proper SOP to do this . Dynamic testing requires real research and expertise . Talk to the right people if you want to report on this subject in a credible way. Washington Stafe and UMASS Lowell are the best research centers for this topic . Educate your self .
Selkirk probably be paying USA P money to banned the Joola to begin with. They pay everyone and has 1000s of ambassador lol. UPA got my vote. There should never be just one company for approval.
I’d be much more supportive of Selkirk’s agenda if their paddles weren’t so throw away and expensive. I really don’t want the height of paddle tech to result in needing constant purchases of new paddles to be a big advantage. The demo Luxx demo paddles at our club deteriorated to the quality of a much cheaper paddle in a few weeks, and long before it even looked used. The spray on coating has to go.

UPA needs to be re-evaluated and get there Sh*t together
Oh what a tangled web we weave. Big Pickle is wrecking the game. Good on Selkirk for pushing back.
Jason talks a bit on TENNIS SUCKS about testing.
Thanks for representing Drop Posse ❤🎉 nice information on the paddles too.
Joola, originally a third rated table tennis brand, is ruining pickleball.
Wow, Well said! one sentence sums it up.
Thank you for posting this, I certainly wasn't going to wade through all the letters and details myself.

Thank you so much for informing me. You are the best reviewer and pickleball player. You deserve 3k subs. ❤🎉🎉❤
Thanks for putting in the time it took to tease all of that information out and make it understandable!
If you’re wondering why pickleball isn’t in the Olympics…
Because its not popular enough

Very informative and much appreciated. Good job

Thank you, Rafa. Always answering my questions in the first place.
Thanks for laying this out for us in a easy to understand format 👏
Great video!
Very useful ! Thank you
Just go back ti the original pickleball used in the late 90’s
This should be called smash 💥 ball
I wonder what Selkirk thinks about the “CarbonPickle” Pro and “CarbonPickle” Max. They are exact copies of their paddles
It’s a matter of time until Selkirk becomes APP and USAP biggest sponsor similar to how joola owns PPA. This won’t stop until the PPA/UPA becomes financially viable….until then, cash is key.
Great analysis, Rafa. Are you testing glucose monitors?
Thanks so much! I’m type 1 diabetic!!
At 7:22 it should be "incompetence" not "incompetency".
Wow. It is all about the money. No accountability.
Screw it, I'm just going to buying illegal paddles. Lol
Sucks all this is happening. I used to play tennis. Tried pickleball this week. Enjoyed it.
There’s so much drama in this sport 😂
Wait for subsequent results.

Can you tell me your quick thoughts on the Body Helix 4x gold Kevlar?
So this is just as I expected a good old boy money grab system.
Apollo and Monarch team up... That Mage Pro Gen 2!!!!

You have a link to this blog big dog?
What was taken out from the first time the video was posted?
I added back the audio from the first 43 seconds that’s literally it 😂

Let’s ban the Joola 3s and Mod TA !! lol
Go back to wood paddles 😂😂
Selkirk probably be paying USA P money to banned the Joola to begin with. They pay everyone and has 1000s of ambassador lol. UPA got my vote. There should never be just one company for approval.
Tldr: I pulled that out of my ass.

Joola and UPA vs Selkirk and USAP. It's a battle to see who's the most incompetent!
Selkirk maybe a bit salty that Fed’s gen 3 double pickled their favorite sponsored player Duoang 😅
