First of all, massive thank you to the team behind this translation patch. I held this game off for a long time because I wasn't sure if the patch would work correctly throughout the entire game, but it did. The only two segments that posed issues were the credits and one battle where the enemy was just idling. Both segments were replaced with footage from the non-translated version. Whilst having a translation for this Japanese-exclusive game makes it a lot easier to understand, the gameplay is actually surprisingly linear and straight forward. The sequel to this game doesn't have a patch available but I managed to beat it no issues. If this game seems fun to you, definitely give it a try (with or without the patch). There's also a GameCube version available which has been up on my channel for a long time. All of the three Custom Robo games play surprisingly similar which to me is great. Video plays through the entire story mode as well as all arcade modes. The arcade modes don't really add anything new, aside from the Legend class showing unique battles. I decided to show it off mainly because this mode transitions into a post-game mode for the sequel games.
You know, I saw those characters from a super smash brothers brawl trophy section showing the characters from custom Robo man saying that and hearing the soundtrack while seeing all those trophies man the good classic times
I was *literally* just playing this randomly over the weekend. That's actually the third time this month I was talking about or playing something just before this channel put a video on that exact game. Get out of my walls.
The Gamecube game is its own game, released in Japan and America (titled 'Custom Robo: Battle Revolution' in Japan, or just 'Custom Robo' in America). This is a N64 game that was only released in Japan but got a full fan translation, and also the first game in the series. It has a sequel (Custom Robo V2) that was also only released in Japan, that has a mostly completed fan translation, but was never 100% completed so a few parts of it are untranslated or glitchy (the main story is 100% translated fortunately), and there is a translation patch workaround guide posted on Redd!t regarding those issues.
@@KirbyGotenksabsorbed Thank you. I wasn't sure if this got released in America on the Gamecube. I was thinking that maybe this was like Animal Crossing on the N64 and how that got released in America on the Gamecube.
@@KirbyGotenksabsorbed I actually have that V2 translation patch as I paid for their Patreon. The team seems to have fully abandoned the project though as I reached out to them through email years ago so I ended up playing V2 without the patch. Seemed too dodgy.
@@longplayarchive Yeah I heard one of the non-translators on the team threw a tantrum and forced the project to close right before it was almost finished. I've played it from start to finish with the patch and I can confirm everything written in that guide I mentioned is accurate though.
I can’t remember it to be. I believe all Custom Robo games just follow the very same gameplay formula and elements of storyline, so they all play and feel similar but they aren’t exact remakes. The GC version is up on the channel and the N64 sequel will be uploaded in a few weeks

I remember the game show "Battle Bots" came out around the same time as this game. There were several animes too. Metabots being one of them.

Nice game with good music
Hidden gem of N64
Did this game get a port on the Gamecube or is this a completely different game?

Is the custom robo on GameCube a remake for this game?
