I think that this would be a lovely way of putting together samplers, and using the book to review what I learned. I love the idea! Your delightful book with the sweet ribbon tie reminds me of the Victorian era. 💞 It is a worthwhile project to create.

Thank you Sarah, my journal is still in progress but have started to worry about how to finish it. Seen lots of videos and realised I haven left much margins. Using the strings is an idea I hadn't thought of and I quite like it. So I will stop worrying now and just get on with making the 'months'

Just keep stitching Conny, a finishing method will present itself! I didn't plan any of this, from the pages to how it was finished. Sometimes if you overthink things they never get started...

Thank you for sharing this project. I love the book and how you used and sewed together the felt pages and created the cover. I have used the "twine binding" method in the past for paper journals and it is my favorite way to do bindings, so it makes perfect sense to use the same method for a fabric/embroidery journal. I have my felt on order from Etsy and am eager to get started !!!

Fabulous project love it. You have mentioned a couple of times about being unable to do tatting, I also struggled with the shuttle tatting but needle tatting is much easier. You more or less do any tatting pattern on the needle method. I watched a couple of good videos here on UA-cam to learn the basics, then I have a few tatting patterns that I used & they have all turned out quite well.

Craft felt tends to be 100% acrylic, mine is 50% acrylic, 50% wool so just search online for some felt with some wool content in it. You have plenty of time to get going!
