Always been a ghs fan since a young age. Lucky enough to be there when he and talented session musicians s did a set in Glastonbury. Gill and and his band were just sublime. Gill and Ian Drury were just awesome at Glastonbury. And Sister sledge. I lived in Shit and Smell it and Frome. I wanted to see him again but unfortunately he died. Jimi H, Gill and Ian Drury there were all musical genius. Rip a real genius
This was the most incredible show! Fait clearly lead me here whilst on a magical, mystery dander that evening. Unforgettable, however, thanks for bringing it back so fresh chief.
I disagree. The man existed in a state of grace. We all end up being old. We don't all end up in a state of learned grace. Wisdom. Poise. The space. Check out Me And The Devil. Something as raw, empassioned and true as the earliest things he ever wrote or recorded. That's talent.
Yep I was at this too.. amazing. Pretty sure I was trying to find the stage for the beta band or something. Happened to find Gil instead.. right place right time
I saw him the year before for the third and last time - he didn't return to my town after that... I love a lot of his music, and it was a drag he was in such rough shape in his last decade or so. I remember getting a recording of a different '99 show and it was more of the same. This one is palpably better, and this is one of my favourite Gil songs which I never saw him play. In fact he kind of mocked someone's request for Pieces of a Man material at another show I've listened to (Ann Arbor 85 maybe?).
I watched him live at this festival and even got a book signed by him...... R.I.P my beloved brother🖤
One of the GREATEST most UNDER appreciated talents of all time. Saw him 3x’s I remember. Pure class & style.
I lived in Shepton and Frome so went to countless Glastonbury festivals . Gill and his bands performance was purely outstanding, memorable and amazing

His voice is clearly labored by this point but he still finds a way to make it beautiful
He still had that beautiful tone to his voice.
Gil Scott-Hero.
I saw him that day! A legend.

Brilliant music
So sad to see what he became. From his eloquence and strength to that. Just tragic. A hero and inspiration to so many.
he still had it, what are you saying? you're the one who's sad
