    for the impatient -
    print your image 108x108 pixels,
    glue to thin plastic and trim to fit the image
    paint the edge of the plastic
    superglue plastic image to a concave Famicom button
    coat the plastic image in clear resin, just enough to make a meniscus (dome) on top
    dry.
    done

    Great guide, very creative and intuitive. Im looking at creating my first retropie handheld and trying to find the best ways to make it unique.
    I will be revisiting this when it becomes build time!

    Dude, you should do this for the Nintendo Switch! It has a pretty big modding community. You could definitely make it big on that scene. Not a whole lot of custom modders. Most just use aftermarket mass plastic cast shells and buttons. Only a handful of modders do custom work and those usually run a pretty big premium. Look up Colorwave. Their custom joycons run up to the double Benjamins. Another prolific custom modder is on eBay, this chick does custom buttons, and they run $30+ per pair. Your buttons are even more beautiful IMO and could probably fetch similar prices, if not more.
    Will definitely follow your tutorial and see if I can replicate this with my Switch.

    Hey man. Came across this on Reddit. Way to fucking cool man. I'd love to make these, but it's way beyond me haha. If you ever take commissions or the like let me know. I'd be more than happy to pay for something of such amazing quality!

      I'm considering doing custom orders, though I'll probably need a few new supplies in the coming weeks (a vacuum chamber mainly) If you'd like to give me your email address I can contact you when I've got a bit better setup

    • @CrogDogsGarage
      @CrogDogsGarage  5 років тому +1

      I haven't done any D-pads yet but I'd like to do some. As long as the top was flat (might have to file it down a bit) it should work just fine

    This is awesome! And the buttons look amazing!
    Any idea how I can do this on the PS4 buttons, as they are somewhat convex. Or maybe other buttons from different controllers that will work that are already concave?
    Thanks,

    • @CrogDogsGarage
      @CrogDogsGarage  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks, glad you like them! You could use this process to make buttons for pretty much any controller. As for PS4 buttons you could probably file them down until they were flat and go from there. Since they're a different size you could do some test prints of whatever images you'd like to use until you got them at the right size to fit the button

    Hi, amazing work, My printer hasn't been used in months, did you print these on a laser or an inkjet, could I also just get them printed at a photo kiosk on a usb stick and use photopaper instead? Thanks again.

    • @CrogDogsGarage
      @CrogDogsGarage  5 років тому +1

      Thanks! The ones I used in the video were laser printed onto cardstock, but I don't see any reason why printing them onto photo paper wouldn't work. The photo paper is probably a similar thickness and as long as any inkjet ink is dry that should work just fine!
