That goal against Albion in the cup!!. I was in the Villa end that day, when the goal went in, I moved about 10 feet forward in half a second!!. Villa legend, v similar player to Mark Walters, both fantastic. Happy days!!
I'm a Liverpool fan but before I really settled on a favourite team Tony Daley was one of my favourites. And Villa had lots of great players in those days - David Platt, Steve Staunton, Dwight Yorke, Paul McGrath, Tony Cascarino...
Recently met Tony at an event. So great to see that not only was he a brilliant play of course but he’s such a nice guy too. Really interesting to listen to him talk about his career at the mighty villa🔥
I started watching Villa in the 80’s. Without doubt one of the the finest players I’ve seen in a Villa shirt - the excitement in the Holte End when he got the ball and ran at defenders was something special 👍
forgot just how brilliant he was... reason im watching this clip is because i had the pleasure of serving him at my work yesterday...absolutely top bloke, him and his mrs very funny! i didnt know it was TD, i even said he looked a bit like that singer David Mcalmont to begin with and he was laughing, then i said 'and that footy player from the 90s, Tony Daley'...when i had to take their details for a refunded item i said shall i put 'Mr Mcalmont-Daley for a laugh?' and his mrs leant in over the counter to me and whispered 'just put Mr Daley, it is Tony!', cue more grins and laughs and me going 'no wayyy' and just sticking out a hand to shake his..legend!! totally down to earth and genuine. :)
Jonny Red when I was a kid he was at a charity event and my brother who is 10 years older was standing in the background when some kids were getting autographs and he said "ex selvy United player" as my brother was as a kid but in the year below. Tony Daley stopped and got all excited that he met someone from his old club. They had a good chat and it was quite a bizarre situation. Can't imagine today's premier league player being so humble.
I LOVED Tony Daley! Definitely my favourite Villa player of all time. I remember drawing a picture in an art lesson in the 80s of Daley in the air scoring that goal against Everton! Well done on the video - he really was as great as I remember! :-)
Great Video. I long for those days at the Villa. The goal against the Baggies in the F.A Cup in 1990 was without doubt the greatest away goal celebration I was ever involved in.
He was an amazing player on his day. I been looking for a clip of that volley against Man City for years. Route ONE... Sealy... Regis.. Daley.. GOAL!!!!!
I've been a Liverpool fan since 1991 but Tony Daley was a joy for me to watch. It's rare to see a player like him, but we have Raheem Sterling in 2012 and he reminds me of Tony Daley.
I'm a Liverpool fan, but Tony Daley was on of my favorite players back then, the Crazy hair he had are back I.e Raul merieles and Kevin prince boatang have his old retro hairstyles today! But he was always one to watch one of a few players with real pace back in those days
the team of late 80's was awsome, Daley was a lovely bloke as were all of that team, i remember when he had a bad game he had a BAD game but when he was on form he was nigh on unplayable (no inbetween) would grace any top european team nowadays
Fucking awesome. He was my hero in the late 80s and 90s and youve even managed to get the clip of him scoring against Albion away in the FA Cup. Bring back terracing !! ;-)
@immyovuk Are you sure? You could apply that to the "Regis" days, but Daley was a different era. Tony was one of my favourite Villa players but these highlights don't show the full picture. Probably deserved more of a chance though. But so did many Villa players: Mortimer, Cowans, Morley, Walters, Withe, Spink, Shaw...etc...
makes me sad watching the old villa compared to the shit we villa fans have to watch these days mr learner should be made to watch them.we are not asking for much just a team that connects with the fans again
If not for his injury after 1991 I'm pretty sure he would've ended up in a fergie United team. He was both footed so could've played on the right wing opposite Giggs. He always showed glimpses of his potential but he was unlucky with injury.
Yeah it was that knee injury early into the 92-93 season...he was never the same again, shame as he just came off a brilliant 91-92 season..some of the goals he scored that season were class and got himself in to the Euro 92 sqaud, shame injury ruined him
Daley was before Andertons time. Unfortunately Tony picked up some serious injuries 92/93 so never got to add to his caps. I think Bobby Robson should have taken him to Italia 90 though.. he had a great season 1989/90

Arsenal fan born and bred, always lived in Islington… but at school I was always Tony Daley when we played football 🙌🏽
I'm not a Villa fan but loved watching them in the 80s, Daley was a tremendous winger, must have been daunting for defenders who faced him.
I'm a Liverpool fan but before I really settled on a favourite team Tony Daley was one of my favourites. And Villa had lots of great players in those days - David Platt, Steve Staunton, Dwight Yorke, Paul McGrath, Tony Cascarino...
Great player. When Daley got the ball everyone always rose to th their feet. One of the most exciting players to ever play for Villa.
THEE most exciting player ever to play for Villa!!
Recently met Tony at an event. So great to see that not only was he a brilliant play of course but he’s such a nice guy too. Really interesting to listen to him talk about his career at the mighty villa🔥
He is the reason I started supporting Villa, what a player I loved watching him, he would be worth 100million at least these days, phenomenon!

Pace, creativity and spectacular acrobatics, the man was an absolute grade A footballing act. Ashley young had nought on him anyway
I LOVED Tony Daley! Definitely my favourite Villa player of all time. I remember drawing a picture in an art lesson in the 80s of Daley in the air scoring that goal against Everton!

Have always been a LFC fan, but Tony Daley was my absolute favorite as a kid.
£90 million in today’s money. Superbly gifted footballer!
Sterling is just like him.
Brill player...
Used to love watching tony play?he was so fast and a great guy.
Great Video. I long for those days at the Villa.

Was my first ever favourite player and still is to this day. Up the Villa!
Great compilation btw.
I'm a West Ham fan but this guy was my hero growing up
Remember going to Villa v Luton and the Holte End singing his name over and over for about 5 minutes. Great player.
Spurs fan here and I used to pray for us to sign him every window. Loved watching him play.
A true Villa legend thanks for sharing
He was an amazing player on his day.
I been looking for a clip of that volley against Man City for years.
Route ONE... Sealy... Regis.. Daley.. GOAL!!!!!
Makes me proud to be a Villain.
You should be.
alot of wingers like me wanted to be this good in the early 90,s great player
I started supporting villa after watching daley, atkinson, and saunders..
Daley was a class winger. fast skillful. Villa seem to find the quick players.
At 1.05 v Chelsea away, on New Years Day, best away day ever!! 0-3 in the pouring rain, but never felt a drop!! Brilliant!!
as with all wingers, inconsistent but when he was on he was just incredible to watch
I've been a Liverpool fan since 1991 but Tony Daley was a joy for me to watch. It's rare to see a player like him, but we have Raheem Sterling in 2012 and he reminds me of Tony Daley.
remember that volley against Man City on a VHS compilation of Villa goals. What a great player and also nice guy Tony Daley is.

10/10 for the music choice here too legendary prodigy and Daly ...well suited.💜💙
What a player
"Tony Daley up the wing like a torpedo crosses the ball, scores a goal, it's Tony Cascarino...."
Fucking awesome. He was my hero in the late 80s and 90s and youve even managed to get the clip of him scoring against Albion away in the FA Cup. Bring back terracing !! ;-)
Never mind about Ashley Young and Stewert Downing, I'd take Tony Daley and Mark Walters any day! Good video btw
Or Dwight Yorke!!
Great vid, my all time favorite player.
Great video, Sid's through ball at 3:20!! UTV
legend

Excellent player, wish he came to Arsenal...😅🤣👍 blessings to Aston villa
hope villa come back up they should be in the top flight along with Nottingham forrest.remember villa always give Everton very hard games beat us 6-2
Thanks for the comments peeps :)
True genius wing with his speed and talent. There is something of Daley in Bokayo Saka ! No?
NOOOOOO!!
Its good seeing my great uncle play football fist glue wathing him
makes me sad watching the old villa compared to the shit we villa fans have to watch these days mr learner should be made to watch them.we are not asking for much just a team that connects with the fans again
+poola169 its todays fans in general ( all over the country ) and todays souless football product
So exciting when the ball was at his feet. Defenders would brick it when he was flying at them.
Great winger unfortunately he didnt do as much for his Englands caps !
If not for his injury after 1991 I'm pretty sure he would've ended up in a fergie United team. He was both footed so could've played on the right wing opposite Giggs.
He always showed glimpses of his potential but he was unlucky with injury.
He was a better two-footed winger than Giggs, McManaman and Kanchelskis.

@@Skibbitypappappa Yeah, big shame!!
What song is this?

Why didn't he play for England more? Was he not a better option than Darren Anderton? He certainly had more speed than Anderton.
Daley was before Andertons time. Unfortunately Tony picked up some serious injuries 92/93 so never got to add to his caps. I think Bobby Robson should have taken him to Italia 90 though.. he had a great season 1989/90
Gabby thats hes boots you wear!
There's a documentary about him here. I haven't watched it yet but I'm glad there's a tribute to him: ua-cam.com/video/8nI5JW6Cg-I/v-deo.html
