Easily the hardest race in the game. You have to take each turn near perfectly and not slow down much at all. The gold allows for 1 mistake, which I had somewhere in this race, but that's it. It was hard enough to even beat the opponent at first, then I realized that I didn't even get Silver lol. Took 10+ tries to get gold.
Anyway, thus ends the Jak 2 videos. Definitely a classic of the PS2. Jak 3 videos won't be uploaded for awhile until I buy a new copy of it. Maybe I'll start with another PS2 game soon. Either Ratchet and Clank, Champions of Norrath, War of the Monsters, or Ace Combat.
I just finished this race in 2:05:163. All there High Score side-missions are insane!!! Whoever have completed these tasks should receive a medal in irl.
That hopping while turning that I'm hearing is a really great tech. With that, gold shouldn't be hard for me at all!
After 3 days of repeated fails, I decided to check this video out. The jumping on corners helped a treat, finally finished it in 2:03:510 😁

I can't believe I completed it with 2:04, first time I complete the 100% of the game without the orb glitch. Fuck this raceeeee, fucking people of Haven City get out of my wayyyy!!!

omg seriously!! I've been trying to do this for forever now! I must have beaten it like 3 or 4 times as a kid when I got all the orbs, but now that I have the HD remakes, it's hard as hell!! I can't freakin get this bloody thing, good god!
Thanks for posting these, I still haven't beaten this damn mission but it's nice to know it's POSSIBLE at least....after I break a few controllers
Yes definitely the hardest race in the game
I spent roughly 3 days on this orb mission (PS3 version), only to beat it today with about 2:02 (with some room for improvement, not like I will). My winning attempt before that was about a third of a second too slow. MAN that was a bitch. I swear the guy is channeling the ghost of Erol.
Thanks for the video though. I didn't know you can hop while leaning to take turns tighter. Big help for getting my best time. Cheers.
0:49 That accelerator ring fucks me up half the time and I ease off the accelerator just like you, before the stairs. Just a matter of consistent movement I guess, probably needed to turn earlier or ease off earlier.
That's the first race I had to brake at a point or two to get gold,because I was crashing and getting stuck on walls. -.-

Just did this yesterday took about 20 attempts because of getting the corners just right and getting nocked of target by the random fat dudes lol. Ive got the platinum now and moving on to jak 3. TBH the only things i found tough were the class 3 race gold and this race. I actualy got the hoverboard gold on my second attempt somehow and the other races were pretty easy to gold.

"Took 10+ tires to get gold." Dude... It took me like 4 hours to get gold on the class 3 race. I'm just getting started with this one.
Edit: Got it! It felt a little easier than the first two stadium races, but it still took me some 3h of practice, so I'm not sure. I found that you can actually afford to slow down a bit on a couple of the nastiest turns. Particularly the last 90 degree one.
I'd say it took about 2 hours (maybe a tad more) to get Gold for me. And how fitting that the one time I somehow made that final turn was the one time I managed to get it.
(yeah, that's right, there are still bozos like me trying for this damn Gold even in 2024)
OMG! OMG! OMG! After three days I finally got the gold at 2:01. OMG OMG! YES! YES! Finally its over!!!! Now all I I have left is the stadium races.... Oh God... please tell those are easier?
I hate this one so much. I beat him twice after trying for hours, but never got the orbs.
@Dexter9209 hey yo doug help me out like tell me places where i can find orbs i got 236 so far right now and only 6 challeges left i did all gun course onion thing and jet board but im missing some i tried to do orb glitch but it wont work think u can help with places that i might be forgeting?
@Confury Is there a way to retry the city race? Like how at the stadium you can select to retry the JET-Board, Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3 races?
Probably a bit late to answer, but there's a challenge hologram pretty much where the race starts that I just accidentally found which is what brought me here lol

God, I fucking hate this mission. 2:14 is the best I can do.
Trying to get the plat trophy. This race is not hard to win, but getting the gold record is just complete bullshit. The fucking pedestrians man, they have easily fucked up at least 30 attempts for me now. Then the bullshit cornering has fucked me over on at least 20 attempts now. It’s clear they didn’t play test this challenge nearly enough. A time of less than 2:08 is just awful game design. And I typically love this game. Giving up on the plat for sure. Such bs.
This is totally unralated but does anybody know why the Onin game doesn't give me the orbs even if I scored 1107??? (I'm playing the PS3 remake)

I hate this race. No matter what I seem to be unable to get the record. I also hate the fucking Stadium Races because you have seven people after you. Please tell me there is another way to get 258 orbs for the PS3 trophy.

Fuck this race it took me 5hrs to get gold this race is unfair his zoomer is so much faster than urs u have to hit all the rings when its ok for him to miss them u hit a wall ur stuck there for a few seconds he hits a wall instant recovery when jumpin off the bring he lands on u n makes ur zoomer flip u break it slows u down n takes forever for u to speed up but i did it n never doing it again
I know what you mean. And when you are trying to avoid a citizen, they seem to get in the way and knock you off course. When I get the fucking 2:07 record, I'm not racing in that race ever again. Same with the Class 3 through 1 and Reverse versions. FUCK THE RACES!
