- Tony Blackburn looks at the weekly pop chart from 28th August 1975 and introduces Kenny, Rod Stewart, Desmond Dekker, Jasper Carrott, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Hot Chocolate, Peter Skellern, Bimbo Jet, Billie Jo Spears, Chris Spedding, The Stylistics, Mike Batt with The New Edition and a Pans People dance sequence.
Single edit and title track of The Eagles fourth LP, released as the second single (after Best of My Love) and here introduced by perm-a-grin (and also perm-a-tan) Lego™ haired Tony Blackburn, in some hideous striped jacket looking like it's ripped from some deck chair (giving it a swift intro only).
What a routine thou, one of my fav's from the Pans People '75 canon, and one of only a few surviving editions from that year (looking at the wiped editions, there is alot of good treats callously dumped by good old BBC).
So at the moment we can enjoy this little 3 min treat from the Pans girls. What a treat thou, starting with gentle but erotic hip thrusts towards the TV and the viewer over the slide guitar intro, you become totally possessed watching this (I certainly did, and I've seen it a few times). then all hell is unleashed as the girls get down and dirty to this great track, just keep an eye on Dee Dee in the back row and Ruth & Sue in the front row (on this several occassions I nearly dropped my tea).
About 57 seconds in and the girls do what looks like a really bad impression of George Reeves as Superman (Babs looks like she is about to over-reach and tip over) and then the first of the most highly erotically charged moments in this routine, as Dee Dee gyrates slowly at the camera (the next one evolves Sue and what looks like wondering hands - round the 1:57 mark) - both of these moments is just worth the price of viewing pleasure alone.
A really sensual electric charged dance piece to a cracking song. The bewitching beauties in gypsy frilly off the shoulder numbers, turned up flared jeans with white boots (prob the same ones used in 'Philadelphia Freedom' and 'Foot Stomping Music') just look stunning, no wonder it's my fav PP line up (well also including the Mary line up as well - 75-76 period)
Overtly erotic (and this went out just after 7, poor old Mary Whitehouse must of choked on her shortbread finger) and classic routine only slightly marred by Babs over reaching Superman impression, but don't let this spoil your enjoyment of this (it certainly hasn't for me)
Highlights, well apart from the above mentioned two spit your tea out aghast snippets, I would say the general look of the girls in question (Ruth looks quite yum in this, so does Cherry, oh bugger they all do)
Off for a sit down in the shower with it running really cold water session
This copy was from a really ropey old VHS copy, the sound was shocking. For this clip, the sound was completely re-dubbed from a remastered CD edition (from my collection) to match the clip (retaining intro and audience applause) - this was handle by my good chum Vin (from the forum). The slight visual tweaking was handle by yours truly.

Truly excellent performance by Pan's People, to a great record, from the wonderful magical year of 1975. All the more excellent because of the gorgeous Dee Dee Wilde. Great seventies outfits too!
The outfits and hair are superb. I love these ladies. They remind me of my lovely girlfriend I had at that time.

+terence barrett Did you know that Robert Powell who married Babs Lord was so nervous of asking her out that he had to ask all of them out at the same time. Luckily for him they realised where his heart lay and they left them to it. They haven't prised them apart since Ho Ho. As for Sue Menhenick she went on to joint another group of beautiful young ladies in Legs and Co. Good luck my friend; I'm going for a cold shower !!!!
