this was a great episode. this was simple and everyone can relate to the everyday struggles of organizing / re-organizing -or being tempted to just go USBS finally . good shit
I haven't used iTunes aka Apple Music in years. I created a master folder called DP One's Collection in my Music folder and separated all my music by Genre and keeping them 5 years apart. For example: Hip Hop (2015 - 2019), Hip Hop (2020 - 2024). Within each crate I have my music organized by Year, Key, BPM & add helpful info in the comment section. I also create Smart Crates out of songs that are first organized in their respective crates for specific themes. For example: Boxing Songs, DMX Tribute, Wedding - Cocktail, etc. It's very tedious but it works great for me. Just need to be focused and patient. Some might disagree but to each is own. Hope this helps. **Purchase a Samsung T7 or T9 2TB or 4TB to clone your computer or at least back up your all your music. Salute to all the real ones out there keeping this beautiful artwork alive and strong. To the Road Podcast keep on accomplishing further greatness. Bless up!
12:16 you answered the question are USB’s less effective. lol That’s why having a working laptop is clutch, you having streaming, download songs in a pinch, you have more options and can take requests easily. 🤷🏾♂️
I find usb is amazing for shows that you prep hard for and or if you play your short hr set but for Djs at 4-6 hr private or corporate events between requests It’s good to practice all these techniques and establish solutions to problems that occur
I’m just picturing Crooked walking into the Serato retreat and they tell him to open Serato and they’re like wait….why is it already ScratchLive. We haven’t given him the record
Sl1 box back in 06 was my first serato experience I’m really working at switching to usb 100 percent but man I love so many quick valuable benefits available with serato
Hi, I'm the developer of DJCU. One of the questions I'm frequently asked is, "Will there ever be a Windows version of my tools?" To be completely candid, the answer is a firm "no." This decision isn't motivated by any operating system preferences; it's a much simpler matter. The majority of support inquiries I receive are related to the operating system rather than the application itself. Unfortunately, my knowledge of Windows is limited compared to my expertise in supporting macOS. While I recognize that making my tools available on Windows could benefit many artists and potentially increase revenue, I've had to make a choice due to my resource constraints. I've chosen to prioritize maintaining a strong reputation for going the extra mile to support users of my tools, and I simply can't provide that level of support on the Windows platform.
Check out my response to this podcast, where I debunk the myth that "Music is just a patch" and explain why iTunes/Music remains highly relevant for DJs looking to curate their audio collections. ua-cam.com/users/livecdUymmPsQgo?t=2410s
@@DJ_V_squared Serato only crashed on me three times in all my years, each time during wedding ceremonies (go figure). What I found most interesting was on my i9 Mac Serato made the fans run constantly while djay pro did not. Since then I’ve upgraded to an M2 Max and the fans don’t come on when I run either program. But even on the M2 Max when I run Serato it shows up as an app that’s using significant energy, while dj pro does not. And maybe that made me paranoid but Serato just doesn’t run as smoothly imo.
I’ve only used virtual DJ a few times for my work flow the software just isn’t or wasn’t responsive enough for me it’s dmgreat for what it is but if you have the proper resources to get into the industry standard and learn serato or traktoe do it
Great conversation, we definitely need that video on how to get out of iTunes & organize everything.
Getlive’s the best. Thanks for explaining the back up

@22:30 Just be safe and back up that entire 1st serato crate.
"what did you do!?!?" 😂
Great show, guys. With so much music out there, what do you recommend for music in Serato in folders. Thanks

Serato isn't the most stable from my experience.... and the issues highlighted here didn't make that statement @25:11 convincing
I work in IT, I never deploy a new firmware for an essential resource without testing in a controlled environment.
The INFAMOUS debate! lol
Dj Conversation Utility is only for Mac users, and that sucks. They haven't dropped a Windows Version yet.

25:13 nah djay Pro is way more stable than serato.
I just switched over to djay pro, digging it so far.

@@bboymac84 heading that way. But still some adjustments and shortcuts need fixing.
@@DJLimeGreen yup!
