As stated in the video: “this level doesn’t do anything particularly special, but a new player may find it to be interesting.” Different people may find different levels to be appealing which is why it’s important to define what makes your level appealing in the first place. And if Robtop didn’t find generic levels to have some appeal, he would’ve stopped rating them.
So you therefore have a few seconds to convince Rob that your level is rate-worthy.. which means you need to have a selling point for your level. See what I mean?
Good informative video, the truth is this is one of the topics that almost none of the moderators dare to talk about and also there is no fixed "standard" to obtain the rate, very good video!!!
Another W vid from GDCS ❤ This time, it touches the more marketing-related aspects of building levels, especially with the mention of selling points, hooks, and gaining player interest through appeal. I'm getting so much deja vu about the marketing mix.
This is an amazing video. The same thing applies to Rated levels. My request has been denied on some servers even though the design is genius because it is from an underground game.
Unfortunately, the point about only unique and appealing levels getting rates... Isn't really true. There's way too much bland and generic mush making its way in the featured tab for that to ever be true. Aside that, awesome video, I loved the YoReid references, *(**0:56* & *1:40**)* easily one of my favourite creators of all time.
whats funny about this advice is that most featured levels are boring as hell anyway but still get rated (eg every split level and every robtop style level, along with many others which could probably include my own featured level)
The thing is that, most of ppl just simply cant do it cuz they just cant make details using editor objects, its super hard to come up with something using them. For me personally, didnt help that much cuz my problem is that I dont know WHAT to use.
@@GDCreatorSchool I watched it before and yeah, it can help some people but my problem is that I just cant think of any ideas for using objects/cant figure out what objects to use for my idea.
honestly I feel like people make too much out of creator points. most of the featured levels are not even that interesting and "eye catching". I have a featured level and it's just a boring ass glow level, so I don't think it's that hard to get a featured level as people make it sound. You just need to make something that feels complete and is decently appealing.
@GDCreatorSchool yes. Sometimes the editing feels a bit unnecessary and I feel like it's just there to look cool instead of actually being necessary. Of course, this is my opinion
Also one thing I’ve realized, you want more of a focal point in your level. The red level in the vid has focal points that are literally everywhere, that’s bad. You want to have a few where you want the player to be looking the most. Just one little thought.
I wouldn’t really say the release time matters too much. If you’re looking to drive up hype online/in social media then I would say to consider that for your release date/time
"You will want to hook robtop as much ch as possible" Have you every watched a robtop stream? He literally does like 10 attempts, gets halfway through the level, than gets bored, rates it and leaves.
I agree with this video. Most rated levels these days are boring as heck. The only levels that actually stand out to me are levels like Emerald Realm, White Space, 2.2 levels, even RobTop Styled levels, and even levels like Larga Espera. I rarely find any “good or fun” levels in the rewarded tab anymore.

This just isnt true. Otherwise the featured tab wouldnt be filled with boring lookalike identical generic glow levels.

I think RobTop styled levels are fun IF gameplay is good and the right song is used for that gameplay
Like Waterflame songs for example
uhm My Deco Style is like Horror and Reddish Theme like Gore, is it allowed to rated??
but i do feature worthy deco too
