I like this song more than Green And Glass. I saw a comment from Grant that they purposely chose to release a couple songs that are different than what people expect from them. I personally find that odd when trying to generate hype for a new album after a break, but I'm still excited for Phantoma and I refuse to judge anything too harshly until hearing the entire thing as a full concept. There are two other t-shirt designs available so I'm hoping we get 2 more singles, one on release day and one between now and then. A song per month is a good rate to drop them. Blood Empress is one and the other is Ph4/NTO-mA, which I'm assuming is the title track with a different spelling/format.
Yeah I think they're keeping some bangers under wraps. I personally like Green and Glass better. Sure it sounds a bit on the light side tone wise but it gets DARK for the solos, which were phenomenal. Some of Andy and Grant's best work imo, which really tied the song together. Both good songs tho but I think they got some surprises left for Phantoma yet!
Let's not forget that this, once again, is part of an overall story. As with the last two albums, this is a concept album and each song will play a part of a greater whole. I for one love this song. I just really dig the overall vibe. I think people are just hoping for something groundbreaking and let's face it. UTA isn't that. They know what they like and they know what they can do and I feel like they've been improving exponentially ever since Andrew joined. I'm very excited for the rest of this album and also my first UTA show in May in Victoria, where it all started!
Interesting how people try to box a band into "this sound" and expect them to keep making the same album over & over just because you don't want them to change.
Green and Glass was definitely better for me. Im still hyped for the album, but if this song is the weakest on the album, not only is that ok, im fine with it. They dont all have to be bangers if everything else is fire. Although, i do want them to venture into a little bit of the heavier stuff. In "tonight we ride" brittney sings a line that is kind of gruff/strained a little so, personally, i would like to see more of that. If they could do more songs like "Night of the Werewolves" or "Sunglasses at Night" id be a happy camper
Felt the same way upon hearing Green and Glass, as I know many also, wishing they'd just go HAM...That was until it got to the solos, which got dark and incredibly expressive. Actually some of Andy and Grant's best work to date. That was when I was really reminded of the diversity of these guys and then I appreciated the song as a whole a lot more. One thing for instance I really like about them is their ability express emotion and tones through sound and melody. It's something they do better than just about anybody in the game and naturally they're going to have each song support the part of the story it's at. So I guess it's not always about being heavy with them, it's about following the tone of the story first and foremost, which I can appreciate. All that said, UTA is a Power Metal band first but they do have roots in Death Metal and maybe they're just trying some new things but I think well be surprised at how good this album is, if anything the next album as I suspect them eventually getting back to those roots a bit more down the road. As for this album, some of the best songs on Abyss were the ones they didn't make music videos for and that hardly anyone seems to have reacted to after all. I suspect that'll be the case here as well. Hopefully! Cheers guys. 🍻
I love the song , and I like how they want to try new sounds or not rinse and repeat the same thing. Musicians make music they love or love to make, it's not for everyone. This band is a top talent
This has some strong cruising vibes to it. I can see myself jamming to this while on a drive or a motorcycle ride. That or the song that plays while end credits roll after a movie.
I personally like both songs so far and am stoked for the album. The sound is a bit lighter but still unmistakably UTA. Kinda sad that people only want recycled stuff they have done for years. Growth is good and it not being as hard as their older stuff is not a bad thing...hell it could be a great thing if people who like lighter metal become fans also. I never liked harsh vocals in the past but now I listen to many bands that have them....all because of UTA. Like or dislike the first two songs but just don't hate the band because they are the same people that did Apex. If you never explore you will never discover.
We dont disagree with this. Bands do take a risk by trying new things. Growth is good but if it's at the expense of the fans who made you popular, then you're taking a risk. Either way, still fans, still stoked.
unleash the archers has been writing power metal bangers for 10 years. many of their heightened songs are distinct, and have kept us coming back for more. Ghost in the Mist, is a departure from the blasting beats, blistering leads and flighty vocals of Brittany. Bands do progress, change, and recalibrate, in order to stay relevant, and to survive in said genre. this is a recalibration, but within their beloved genre, and should be looked at as a way for them to remain relevant. for instance, how many cannibal corpse albums have come out over the past 25 years that sound exactly the same? yes, the base will always buy their albums for a time, but by album 15, nobody is buying, no new people are listening, and they end up being a circus side show for newer, more extreme and progressive death metal bands over the years. cannibal corpse ends up opening for xyz. Unleash the archers are trying to remain relevant, and stay ahead of being backstaged, and this is how they are doing it. this song is absolutely incredible, and for those who cling to the edifice of a decadent past, well, its just time to look toward the future.
Its a grower. At first wasn't too keen, but I dig it now. Same with the first single. But I think that was more to the video being too distracting. I have utmost faith that the album will be good. Lutharo are in this vid. Have you heard their new album Chasing Euphoria?
Hi mates, nice one... 👍🤘 May I suggest "FAUN & ELUVEITIE - GWYDION", german Pagan Folk meets Swiss Folk Metal, truly a masterpiece... Stay safe and greetz from Germany
I am really hoping that this album comes together really well. So far, these singles have been good songs, but nothing on the level that Apex and Abyss were. Those albums, to me, were as close to perfection as I think I've ever heard so it makes since that it would be hard to live up to those previous albums. I feel like I can't compare this one to those two previous, it just isn't fair. Looking forward to the release of the album to see if it all clicks.
They get softer and softer. Soon, they will become a hard rock band with A LOT of annoying keyboards thrown in here and there. So,far, their apex was ""Apex"".
I love this song! Been on repeat for days now
Love it. Definitely gets better and better with more listens. Really looking forward to the whole album
such apowerful and uplifting elements here sonically awesome everything about this cool groove

I think this is my favourite song on the album.
For me, Apex was their “apex” thus far. I feel they sound their best when they lean towards the “heavier” side.

That chorus will be stuck in my head for days!! Amazing writing!
I didn't like the first song, but this is instant playlist.
YES you are wrong. this song is awesome and exactly what I want from this band.

totally disagree. Love this song.
Sounds like soilwork whorship
Theyve really lost their edge. Shame, they came in guns blazing and theyre just another band now
