I play double bass, but my mom played bassoon for a while. Bassoon is probably one of my favorite woodwinds and has such an amazing sound. My school's full orchestra is playing March to The Scaffold, which is one of my favorite movements, (not just in Symphonie Fantastique, but in general), and I sit right next to the bassoons. They always have such great tone and are some of the funniest people I've ever met :) Great playing!
The percussion and bass instruments are the backbone, the timekeeper, the most important job in any musical ensemble. Of course the bassoon has its moments in the spotlight. "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and the opening solo of "The Rite of Spring" come to mind.

Learned a lot about music, though, so it wasn't entirely wasted time. Clarinet major, but played some bassoon and saxophone (mostly tenor) in high school.

Always listening for mistakes and things to be improved upon. Worried about auditions and chairs. That is exactly why I stopped playing. I had played enough to have a music concentration on my first degree. So I just left it at that. Then I felt like something was missing and started playing again post college. Since then I have been on a journey of finding the fun in the music and enjoying myself. Not always listening for mistakes. And not pointing out every mistake others make. That is not the point of music making. Shoo, I’ve written a book. But what you said resonated with me.

Concussion percussion. Snare's always been my favorite! I love adding swing to one particular part of the song.😉 I love this song so much that I arranged it for drumline and pit. The tenors play the temple block part. I even put my swing part in it! Anyways, "break a drumstick!" 👍🏾
I'm a clarinettist in a small, school band from Poland but we managed to have a bassoon player (it's rarely seen to have a bassoon in amateur, school band). Every time we are going to play on a competition, other orchestras are like "WHOOOOA THEY HAVE A BASSOON!!! AMAZING!!" :D

My son plays a lot of instruments bassoon was one. It is a good ticket to college scholarship. He called it his blurping bedpost. She is perfect. Some other band members goofed up though. Son is now a pro tuba player.
Hngggg It's been days since I started to constantly watch bassoon POVs and I fell in love with the musicality of the bassoon, I play the flute but I am looking forward to try and play this instrument! (Tho it's kinda an unrealistic dream because we do not have any shops that offers bassoon here in my country ;-;)
