This is the second port of Daytona that was made for the Saturn. This time it was made by the same guys that ported Sega Rally, and they added to new circuits, reworked the controls and made the game run smoother. Aside from that, graphics are also slightly changed and there are new music tracks and rearrangements. In its time it was considered like a much better port than the first one when it was launched, but it must be noted that it's not extremely faithful to the original.

Eu ganhei um Sega Saturn quando estava no segundo grau e já tinha saído de linha esse jogo foi o primei que consegui comprar joguei muito quando era adolescente quando vi esse video senti um sentimento de tristeza e saudade um aperto no coração um nó na garganta vontade de chorar foi muito bom ter vivido naquela época ,as crianças de hoje não terão essa oportunidade de se divertir com jogos assim. Saudades muito obrigado....:)
É verdade, nunca tive um Saturn mas joguei muito nas locadoras, que alugavam os consoles por 1 hora. Era uma época em que nós tínhamos que nos reunir pra jogar numa mesma tela. Era muito bom, a rotina era sair da escola, ir pra locadora jogar, depois ir pra locadora de filmes, alugar uma fita e ir pra casa de alguém assistir, pedir uma pizza e ficar zuando até meia noite. Hoje tudo é online, cada um joga na sua casa. Eu acho que tivemos muita sorte de ter vivido aquela época...
Com certeza Brother hoje não existe mais aquela coletividade eu jogo sempre online Need for Speed Rivals Battlefield 4 O 3 Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare mais ainda tenho saudades daqueles tempos pra falar a verdade nós fomos privilégiados....

Saturn was a trip.didnt get one until an uncle gave us one in 2004 .I remember the cubes that went with the best in the cd player and some game with 3 Vikings

Yeah, I can vouch for its existence under the name "Daytona USA Deluxe", too (despite not owning it). IIRC the PC version even adds a sixth track, Silver Ocean Causeway.

That part where he sings "give me a D A Y T O N A", sounded really awkward. The song finishes, and then this comes out of nowhere.
The JP Circuit Edition restores the original songs, adds several dusk and nighttime modes, and improves the car handling (although not as much as hype claims). It's a more polished version of the CCE released in the US. Fortunately, that final release appeared in the US as the "Netlink" version of Daytona, which is now extremely rare.
The netlink version is avaiable as a Emulator Rom, Not sure about the CD for the console.

In this video the game has much more pop-in than what I see on my PAL and JP copies. And what about those glitches with the sky background, at 7:30, at 3:26 and in other parts of the video?
Maybe the US version was launched earlier?
It's on an emulator. Your observations are correct, the pop in and glitches are not this bad on the actual Saturn hardware. I also own a copy and play it still to this day - although the gameplay in the original Saturn release is better than the CCE.

Yes it was released for Windows with name Daytona USA Deluxe. It was the same with CCE but with one more exclusive stage.
@AlirazaVideoGames Sega remade Daytona just a couple years back in the arcades, as SEGA Racing Classic, so pretty sure they still have the code in house. Plus they just released Daytona for XBLive and PSN, right?
Memories of buying my first Saturn in 1998 on the cheap brand new from toys r us. Revolution X sucked and NHL 97 wasn’t my thing But I had this to go with them. Best game of the 3.

While I know you've already had replies on this subject, Championship Circuit Edition DID exist on the PC under the name 'Daytona USA Deluxe'. Had this exact version myself. :)
I got Daytona USA Deluxe because I have always wanted to play CCE but the saturn versions price OH BOY so I settled with deluxe and its a pretty good game (Obviously not the game to show off your Pentium III Machine though XD)

@mickmils Yep, I used an emulator. You can see this specially in the last stage when the graphical glitches get quite a bit annoying. Anyway, the first Daytona was superclunky with its 20 fps and this runs at 30, which is still less than the arcade's 60 fps.
Aside from the improved frame rate this is not much better than the original saturn port. Dreadful draw distance. Fortunately there is no reason to own either now since there is the arcade HD enhanced version on psn and xbox live or daytona 2001 on dreamcast which are much better. These saturn versions are obsolete.
Sorry but no, CE has two courses that any daytona enthusiast would enjoy. Extras, nice music, there's a lot on the saturn for a daytona fan to enjoy if not faithfull other ways to play this game which aren't as good as, but good nonetheless
+Lord Maximus The NetLink version of this game can actually connect 2 players via P2P to play online. Some day at some point the PSN & XBLA servers will be shut down and you won't be able to play it online with a friend anymore. In the other hand the Saturn version will always provide online connection as long as telephone lines exist, so they will never be obsolete.

Was this done on an emulator? The only reason I ask, is I noticed the car icons in the first race, are way off the course map. Kind of funny but I know the original Daytona on the Saturn didn't do that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't there also a second port of Virtua Fighter that fixed many of the issues the first? I seem to recall that because of the Saturn's surprise launch, many of the earliest titles suffered from various glitches resulting from tight deadlines.
no there wasn't. Virtua Fighter Megamix was a different game.
Yes, there was. Virtua Fighter Remix was the original Virtua Fighter with updated character models. It fixed a lot of the graphical glitches that plagued the initial launch release.

Man, I hated this game back in the day. The boxy graphics, the framerate is still bad, the shitty music - this was even worse than the original Saturn game (which I loved).

Interesting there are 2 Saturn games.
The first one was rushed for the Saturn release and looks like shit, that's why they made a second.

When the Sega Saturn originally launched Sega themselves hadn't got to grips with their own dev kits for the system. It was rather complex by all accounts. However, they also rushed the original Daytona USA and Virtua Fighter ready for the launch.
Both games suffered from graphical glitches but Daytona USA was the worst of the two. Unfortunately in releasing versions that were not ready impacted on people's perceptions of the Saturn 3D capabilities. This contributed in part to the systems poor sales.
Both Daytona USA and Virtua Fighter got graphical and performance upgrades and were re-released. Although this version of Daytona has added tracks and better graphics it's gameplay was not as good as the original.
I hated the original soundtrack, so overly cheesy and stupid... This one was so much better!
The original was way better. Had way better control handling and WAY better music.

Compared to the original Saturn release, this is fucking awful. Probably the worst port of this game. The controls are bad, the mixed music is bad, and it still has the draw distance issues. HOWEVER, this only applies to the US version that is shown in this video. The Japanese version has the original music and far better controls. Get that one if you can.

If you mean Daytona USA as a whole, You're insane because in both the arcade and the OG Saturn release it did extremely well. I don't fully know about this version of the game. But for all the backlash CCE gets I actually think it is not that bad.

There was a way to unlock the original Daytona car, which had all 5 star ratings, and the horse, Uma.
It's definitely in the Saturn version, just had to get in 1st place on all 5 tracks.
+Gdj Games Yep, its on the Saturn version too. But you can mod the PC game to play as the original Hornet car (Daytona car with normal Hornet stats) if you swap some files. Basically makes the default car look like the unoloockable one. There is a vid about that on my channel.
I'm not a NASCAR fan, but as a racing fan in general, I understand NASCAR fans. People who don't like it, only see cars driving in circles (ovals actually, big difference). Fans are able to see past that and appreciate the nuances of strategy and skill. Just saying.
+MC 808 I have always liked racing but its weird because watching it was boring to me but playing it (Even when its just in a circle) It has to be one of the funnest times ever (Probably because you acually get to see and feel the "strategy and skill" from the Keyboard,Controller,Wheel,Whatever you use to the screen its just so divine and tight though we need less games where you actually need to go in-depth and modding the car with extremely realistic detail though T_T Seriously I want to race not put in pretty parts and then then the car only goes 50 MPH because you set the tire pressure to 5.0001 instead of 5.0000
