    Great work Nebraska Public! It really hits home for me because I was on one of the planes forced to land when this occured. I remember driving over the GW bridge 2 days later and seeing the smoke rising out of Southern Manhatten. Something I'll never forget!

      Glad you made it. I remember, shortly after 9/11, coming down the Palisades Parkway and looking over towards the New York City skyline and not seeing the towers there. That was surreal.

    I'm watching as I write this. What do I have to say... my wife was on the 54th floor of the south tower that morning, so that's what still haunts me... what if she hadn't gotten out? The decision to evacuate came from her. We both knew it was an attack the moment the first plane hit and we both knew a plane was headed for the south tower quickly and yet, the media didn't have a clue. I don't know what else to say

    I used to live in Fremont, Nebraska, 45 miles from Offutt AFB.I remember watching all this stuff going down when it was announced that Bush was landing there. Suddenly, we heard a loud roaring noise; myself knowing because I was an Air Force vet, I knew that was a fighter jet on full afterburner right above us. A lot of us ran outside of our plant just in time to see an F-16 pull-up over the airport next door after ordering a private plane to " land now or be fired upon!" ( we heard about this from our maintenance guy, who was a private pilot himself, after talking to the other pilot himself) I saw ordinance on his wings, which told me this was probably one of Air Force One's escorts. There were a lot of scared people there. I remember saying, "I think we're at war, people!"

    22:55 - 23:04 THAT is some old ass footage they inserted to this video. The guy doing the marshalling of the plane is wearing a uniform that was phased out in 1990 and the plane is marked with SAC stripe, SAC having gone into the history books in 1992.

      Good catch. I stopped wearing the pickle suit the day the AF authorized BDUs. I had purchased mine from an Army post before my first deployment to Central America in ‘87.
      By the time SAC had dissolved into ACC, I had my papers ready for an early-out. I sadly left in ‘93 just before the due date to replace the SAC command patch on my uniform.

    I was on active duty that day and my unit was in the field for scheduled training operations. We didn’t have access to a tv or a cell phone, I don’t even think we had a radio, but we got word that morning about the attacks. First it was New York City, then the Pentagon and a lot of us, including myself, thought this was all part of the training exercise. After all, who would attack the Pentagon? It didn’t seem real to us which is why we thought it was a scenario that was being used for training. By 11am we all realized this was not part of the exercise and was happening in real time.

    After watching a good number of 911 videos and Pearl Harbor documentaries, I have come to the conclusion that we are very good.......................at getting caught with our pants down around our ankles. As an aside straight from the heart. I heard the new song by Diamond Rio called "One More Day". When I first heard that song a few days after 9-11, I immediately thought of those that lost friends and loved ones in those attacks. That song pulled my heart strings, and the tears fell. I still feel the same emotions 22 years afterwards.

    Wasn’t the attack on the world treated center with civil planes also a scenario they planed to simulate in the war game?

      Yes that exact day ! That’s why so many fighter jets were unprepared or re fueling. Also did you know that every day that the wtc stood cost Silverstein money being as tho the buildings were obsolete because they were built with asbestos! The buildings couldn’t even be demolished because it would release so much toxins into the atmosphere. Another fact, for that very reason the building had to be removed sq ft by sq ft and actually had some 85%-90% work left to do! The removal of that little bit of the building cost an upwards of 20$ million alone! So you could appreciate the liability that WTC was to Silverstein! Then BAM, an insurance policy was open and then shortly after the buildings were destroyed! Coincidence? Maybe, but this can not be looked over💯

    very good documentary , I recently asked a 11 year old ...' DO YOU KNOW WHAT 9/11 WAS ? " The answer was NO . I was shocked , this young generation needs to prepare in case it is attempted in a different form . God Bless U.S.A. and Canada

    Seeing our B52’s all sitting parked next to each other, makes me seriously wonder if our military leadership hasn’t learned anything since Pearl Harbor? This was the exact mistake we made there by bunching up our aircraft and battleships in one location. I certainly hope our aircraft responsible for part of our nuclear arsenal is more spread out now instead of just one base sitting side by side. I know we have other delivery methods i.e., missiles, subs, but still the idea is to have multiple capabilities.

    • @ronaldrobertson2332

      You've never seen them do a MITO (Minimum Interval Take Off) before, have you? They get the word of missiles inbound, and all crews are scrambled and are getting airborne in minutes, heading for their independent targets in the Soviet Union or Red China. Where they're parked is called an "Alert Ramp."

    My hub and I were just discussing this. We're the U.S. WHY would we ever send FIGHTER jets up without being armed even if it's just a practice run? One of the nuttiest things I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot of it from the different videos of 9/11. Totally nutz!

    • @Ninja-Mama

      Coincidently the military was doing maneuvers when Flight 800 crashed. 🧐 Why didn’t the military at Pearl Harbor help put the fires out on Lahaina? Planes and helicopters had the entire ocean full of water to use!! Could our military be compromised? IMO Yes
      Remember how the fighter jets were on maneuvers on 9-11? They were sent away from land instead going over the ocean. This wasted critical time to intercept any planes.
      Air traffic Control keep asking is this real or training.

    • @sjp35productions6
      @sjp35productions6 5 місяців тому +2

      Not totally nuts. We were still under the illusion of the “peace dividend” that had been implemented after the fall of the Soviet Union. So, peacetime training where weapons were not to be used meant that a pilot went up without ammunition. Most of the time, when pilots are on a “training mission,” it’s intended to maintain the flight hours necessary to remain qualified as a pilot. There’s a lot more to it, but that’s the basic reason.

    • @MrJest2
      @MrJest2 5 місяців тому +2

      It's *not* super-easy to arm an aircraft - there is more than a little bureaucracy involved, multiple checks and transfer procedures to be followed and so on. Since 99% of the time aircraft fly _without_ weapons on board, everything is geared towards that "normalcy bias". And I speak as someone who loaded and maintained nuclear weapons (which are 10X worse in terms of paperwork and procedures). It isn't something you do quickly, or on-the-fly. Even basic air-to-air missiles on a fighter. You're lucky if there are even cannon rounds loaded.

      It just makes things easier for our enemies. It reaches a new, younger audience every time something like this is posted. Btw, Classified is just a label, a category. Our country can still be hurt by info that is not classified. It’s sad that most people are creating internet content to make a profit, regardless of the consequences.
      This film also confirms that our continental US has little defense. Anybody with a container ship (actually containing missiles) can sit off our coast and blow us to pieces. You can’t launch nukes when all you know is somebody disguised a container ship and is attacking. We need many Patriot missile systems on our (own) borders and coasts, along with other Surface to Air Missiles( SAMS), better and more radar, not just our old early warning radar in Canada and other locations. Oh wait, we gave away all our Patriot systems…oh well, we can start again and make all we need in 7 or 8 years, no worries. 😮.
