- Record Store Day is an annual event celebrating the art, community and amazingness of independent record stores all over the world. Here in Seattle I join in on the festivities and work to get my hands on the most sought after records on my list. In my quest I visit four different Seattle area record stores. And share some of my and’s record store day haul!

I never get up early for RSD. I'm not a queue-r. I go in the arvo when the live bands & beer are flowing. Driving and presenting...impressive! Nice burger move too mate👍 It was also a nice tour around town. "Not squeezing a cat" 😂You did well with your haul Russ. Cheers...Ben
Thanks Ben! That’s the funny thing about easy Street records, you can shop for records there have a beer there there’s a bar upstairs and live music from time to time when they take out all the chairs and tables off the stage.
Last year we saw the Rockford’s play one of Mike McCready’s (Pearl Jam) side projects.
I still picked up a few few more records the next day and then again working in the city. 🤷🏻♂️
Nice video. I Saw myself in that line at Easy Street when you drove past. At least it was a nice day + they were giving us water. I got The Ramones, David Bowie, John Lennon, Siouxie &The Banshees, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Malfunkshun. I skipped the Tad and others I would’ve picked up if I had the money! Still a good day.
Nice scores! Sister Rosetta Thorp is another one. I would’ve picked up if I had saw it there, historically, I believe she is the Mother of rock ‘n’ roll! Wanted Malfunkshun but I saw as the record store day first so look forward to hopefully picking that up in the near future. I believe I may already have the Ramones demos on a CD somewhere. There was a CD release that came with a comp, my friend Shawn and I were talking about it. Although I’ve seen people share videos of the wax tho and it’s really cool with the splatter vinyl.
If I would’ve followed the rules and stood in line, I probably would’ve got one more record. But I have to admit I was starving as well as I got up at 4 o’clock in the morning and only ate a granola bar by noon - 1:00 or whenever it was, I arrived at EasyStreet. 🍔🎸

Makes me wish I would’ve gone up to SODO. Been a very long time since I’ve shopped in Seattle. I need to remedy that some day. Glad you were able to get your Bowie! That Tad is pretty good too. Great to hear from you, Trevor! I really enjoyed your video as well. I talked to Shawn on the phone this morning, and he says not many people have even heard of Tad over there and Philadelphia.
We were thinking this is probably leftover stock after the band had their legal issues and the label dropped them back in the day.
Must’ve been 1100 copies laying around the warehouse somewhere for a decades.
I’m not sure it’s kind of speculation, but the one he got from Germany a few years ago is very similar.
What a great RSD video! Loved the little interview w the “celebs” haha I’ve been to sonic boom before, I really like it too! Funny to see mazzy there too, he would get the Beatles player . Ah the talking heads album looks so good, almost grabbed it. Loved a little view of Seattle, love that part of town you’re in. Wow you got ur recorded, made the $11 burger worth it. Great job
I’m glad you enjoyed the video Monie 😁 that’s another cool thing about easy street records is the food is affordable. I don’t know any other place in Seattle where you can get a decent hamburger and fries for $11.
Even McDonald’s is almost $20 bucks for a hamburger, fries and a drink now.
Of course the beer was an extra five bucks, but that’s also a pretty good deal for a pounder of Old German 😂🍺 as another comment or here said there was more records if I would’ve waited in line, I might’ve got a few more things. But I was on a budget and that’s the one record I really was after. In the next video, I found another record on my list from Jive time the record store that Joey recommended in this video.
David Bowie 🚀Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, those songs are so good. I feel if the album was made in the era of CDs. They would have included those tracks.

No, but seriously since the pandemic, I’ve been on top of the taxes. Pandemic happened. We messed up on some paperwork and they wanted to chunk that Unemployment money back 😳 then the next year I didn’t file and then 23 came and we whole lot of IRS trouble. 😬 but I feel like I’ve been through worse shit in my life! One day at a time Sister, taking life in 24 hour increments. Working to ratify this mess 💸 in bite-size pieces. Or the white stripes would say, one acorn at a time. 🐿️

No, for me F that shit! Serious Money grab, didn’t need to charge that much for the record. I think it’s cool that they did the splatter. Interesting color variant for the price was just way too high.
Day before record was also close to $50.
I do like it I listen to it on streaming twice. I think it’s an amazing record, but I ain’t paying 50 bucks for the LP.

Hey Russ! Great video, grats to the Tad score!! I added it to my list but we didn't get any Tad or Screaming Trees over here, possibly one Mudhoney box set and NO Pearl Jam AT ALL :(
It's crazy to see people in the UK or US lining up from 12am the day before sometimes and they only wanna grab a single Olivia Rodrigo record, I went to the first store 3 hours before opening time and was the 5th in line, picked up most things I wanted already then moved to my second store and was about 10th and cleared the rest off my list, at least what was available in Hungary, so no grunge and blues sadly. They promised to get some PJs but I can only hope that it arrives as the demand is really high even on that price point.
This year was hardcore, the list and the prices as well, but I got so many nice scores (got about 20 records) and met a ton of amazing people, musicians and I ended up staying in the second store until 9pm drinking beers and talking music. Fantastic weekend I have to say! :)

Mazzy is a fun kind of cat to hang out with. Kimbo seemed like an interesting cat and I missed coffee Dave. 🐈⬛🐈
Back in the days when I was in and help lead recovery groups my buddy Leo who was the official leader. Leo was an trumpet player was in a jazz band, (or 2,3,4) in Seattle back in the day. If he felt he was meshing with somebody he would call em a cat. Russ, he would say, “that individual is one interesting, warm, friendly, beautiful and yes, even.. cool cat”. He passed away some years ago of cancer. Calling people Cats has stuck with me.

Morton, great to hear from you. I don’t think I’ve ever had one. So I saw them once at the big beer warehouse. I like harder to find stuff.
I don’t know too much about the brand, do they make it in Europe?

@@RussShawTV Dogfish Head is near impossible to get in Europe. They are famous for their 30, 60 and 90 Minute IPA’s. The brewery is in Rehoboth, Delaware.
The beer I’ve never managed to get my mits on is their Bitches Brew, made to celebrate the records… 40th anniversary some 15 years ago?
I did get some Russian River, Pliny the Elder about a year ago. My friend Sascha in Portland sent it to me.
Loved this video. Tried Easy Street but was intimidated by the line, so dropped down to SP. Sonic Youth was sold out by then. Oh well
