RSD has definitely made a comeback. It's been years since I've seen so many people get this excited about the records they got. Hopefully they keep it up.....and eventually get rid of the Cure's picture discs.
Yes, there were lots of younger people. I was 3rd in line and the two people in front of me were in their early 20s. One of them was going after the South Park LP but the other one was going after the Jazz, the Psych Rock and other stuff. He walked out with 15 items. Luckily he was cool and allowed me to get the Pucho. And there were only two copies of the Gandalf LP, so we both grabbed those.
You had a great RSD, Scott. Sounds like you made some good memories and picked up some great music. Thanks for reminder about the Queen Latifah release. Im gonna look for that on my next visit. And nice review of the Beyonce album - I’m intrigued. I need to stream it one day before I make up my mind. I struck out at my local shop this year. It’s a small shop and they didn’t have any of the 10 or so on my list. Probably for the best, my bank account was relieved 😂. My daughter came with me this year so that was cool. She got the Taylor album and I picked up a couple of used CDs from a favorite local act. Cheers

Hi Scott. Thanks for sharing your RSD experience. I participated in RSD this year and it was very busy late into the afternoon at record shops here in Philly. The consensus by the vinyl community on UA-cam seemed to be that this was the best RSD list in years and the long lines well into the afternoon at Philly record shops did reflect high interest. I went to two stores and between them I picked up six albums. Here’s what I got: 1. Edutainment - Boogie Down Productions/KRS 1 2. ILL Na Na - Foxy Brown 3. Nat King Cole at the Blue Note Chicago (cd) 4. ready to die Instrumentals - Notorious B.I.G. 5. Nature of a Sista - Queen Latifah 6. Over It 5 Year Anniversary - Summer Walker The other albums I wanted but were either sold out or the stores did not get them are live albums by Jimmy Cliff and Olivia Dean and Love Alive by Walter Hawkins. Now the wait for RSD Black Friday. P.S. And yes, Cowboy Carter is awesome. I saw in news article that Beyonce did an album signing for Cowboy Carter at a store called Supervinyl in LA. In the photos, I noticed that the displayed albums had the cover with her on the horse. I called the store to ask if they had the album with that cover for sale, and the gentleman I spoke to said they were posters placed over the Beyince album and Beyonce is going to release a deluxe album with all 27 tracks and the standard cover later in the year. Croce died in a plane crash after playing a concert at my college alma mater. He was supposed to leave the next day but was in a hurry to get home. Small plane took off in the night and didn’t see the tree line and crashed. I had no clue about parliament and funkadelic. I always thought they were two separate bands. Thanks for the knowledge! Love the videos!
Love how you requested folks pump the brakes before they took the "songs in the key of life" comparison to literally. Made me laugh loud. Avoiding the sacrilege lol, I love it! But, yeah, I agree, cowboy Carter is a very American album. It's what makes it so interesting. It's a pretty accurate representation of the splintering of genre. For me, however, the LP could've been sequenced better. But that's nitpicking. Anyway, I digress, genre… She did it with Renaissance as well but much more about splitting sub genre. Looking forward to part three in the trilogy. Nice Gio Swaby T BTW!
