I would personally like to see some 70s/80s lawsuit era basses, and how they compare to the "name brand" version. everything from how the neck feels, to the sound, tuning stability etc.
Just got mine today. This is an amazing instrument regardless of price. Beautiful appearance, great sound, best neck ever. The overused word "game changer" is totally appropriate . Thank you Harley Benton!!!
This should be enough of a hint to Peavey to get off their asses and start making the Cirrus again - you know you made a classic when Harley Benton makes a clone of it.
Peavey have made some awesome basses and always stop making them just as people realise how good they are. The T40, Zephyr and Cirrus were all excellent and none are in production. The Zephyr was never even sold in the US.
They have another model called the HBZ that is clearly a copy of the Peavey Grind. If I ever needed/wanted a 5th bass, I’d consider the HBZ since I sold my Grind years ago and Peavey quit making them.
I've had one for about six months and totally agree that it could easily cost double from another manufacturer. I haven't tried it with my big bass rig (Ashdown) but on my Roland Cube, pulling out the knob on the volume on the bass causes the amp to overdrive
Just sending mine back. The two wings are from completely different pieces of wood, one beautifully striped the other dull and with a water stain under the varnish. It also has a bonus free hair encased in the varnish on the through neck on the back of the guitar. All of which is a crying shame because it plays beautifully, the neck is gorgeous and it sounds good too.
I have the 5 string and its really excellent. Great playability and great sound. I lowered the action and nut a bit for slap bass, but its ridiculously good for the money. I like the sound of the bass just DI'd into a mix. I think the pickups come from the same factory that makes PRS pickups. Fretwork was perfect when I checked it with a fret rocker. Haven't noticed any tuning problems with my tuners yet. May leave them in if they are working ok, or might upgrade them later. As you say, super playable neck. its a little on the heavy side, but ok with a decent strap.
This is a great upgrading bass, took my NT-5000 - 5 STRING about a year, to do all mods hipshot ultra lights are a must!! hipshot bridge w/ spacing brought up to 18.5mm from the stock 16mm - chuck the stock preamp and add a Bartolini HR-5.2AP 3 band - add Nostrand Zen Blades with TI Flats - now you have a beast, yeah the mods cost more in upgrades than the cost of the bass. closes that any other bass can get to this bass is a cort Artisan A4-Plus at twice the cost of the H/B NT.
You can get Wilkinson tuners on Ebay for peanuts. I bought a set of 4 black ones for my 30 year old Yamaha RBX200F from an English shop for €35 shipping included. And a black Wilkinson bridge with brass saddles for €23... And yes, the Wilkinson stuff works great! My Yammy plays like a brand new bass now. Amazing value.
I think Cort guitars saw this video and bought the bass line( line of basses). It’s now for about 400 to 500 euros and not built as stunningly anymore. At least that’s what it looks like. I can’t find that model anyway.
would you consider doing fingerstyle demos as well? nothing against pick or slap, it just seems like the best demo for this kind of video because it is most common.
I feel so damn jealous....I wanted to get this one last year but it wasn't available on Thomann back then so I bought it's "sister", the HBZ 2004, which is also astonishing for the price....but damn, I wanted those humbuckers...
I love how it looks. I'd prefer less knobs.... But not a deal breaker!.... If I were looking for my next bass... this would be high on my list. THANKS, PATRICK!!... love your channel
Is that really this model? Active EQ, similar controls,. neck-through? Looking for 6 string HB bases, and the only thing that comes up is a pair of bolt-on models.
I bought a used Aria 5 string neckthrough and converted it to EADGC too, I love it! I wish I had started with a bass like this years ago when I was playing in bands.
I'm a fan of a budget basses (for now :P) and Harley Benton is a must have for anyone, who need cheap, very good sounding bass (guitars too ofc). So, I own two of HB's - Jazz Bass One (kit from HB, yes - I named my first jb :) ) and, from a few days, HB BZ-5000. Already waiting for P-Bass kit and... yes, that rick copy... I want It aswell :). Patrick - thanks for your vids. You are doing great job.
I’ve been looking at this for months thinking about whether to buy or not, I think this great review just sealed the deal. Also I used to have a Harley Benton HB-60 semi hollow and I really regret selling it, I would love to see you do a review on that. Cheers Pat, take care and keep rocking 🤘🤘🤘
I wish the electronics (pickups included) from the BZ were on the HBZ instead. I prefer the slightly shorter bass horn, fretboard, general wood color and layout, and especially the satin finish, but I definitely prefer the controls, 18v boxes and the soapbar pickups over the HBZ.

Is there any chance you could tell me the dimensions of the pickups? I love the way the bass looks but I would like a hotter pickup in it. I have a set in mind but I don't know if they'll fit and there is no information online that has the dimensions for this guitar. Any information would be a big help.
Now do a demo of the BZ 7000. I have a six string ltd bass that I love and I'm' curious about 7 strings. I wanna know if the one they have for under 400 bucks is any good!
I just got my BZ-4000 II (449 euros) today and I have mixed feelings about it. It feels very, very solid, it's pretty light, the neck is probably something for Rickenbacker and Spector fans but I'm getting used to it. All in all I like it so far, my only real issue is the playability on the E string. Due to the size of the pickups the gap between your fingers and your thumb that is resting on the pickup is really big, it feels weird and makes it hard to play fast across 3 or all 4 strings. I guess Patrick as a pick player has not noticed that.
@@Buckers2202 It's a punchy sound with a pretty nice growl and low end. The preamp is fine, I found the setting I prefer and don't touch it anymore. And by the way I'm actually liking the neck now even though I don't have big hands. I think I like it even more than my Marcus Miller V5 jazz bass roasted maple neck.
I have this Bass in a 5 string however it's from the actual manufacture Inyen Vina and it has a burl top and alder body, plus it weighs less than the HB BZ5000 @ 9.4Lbs. Inyen Vina makes the BZ series for Harley Benton and they are great basses. BTW: The knob arrange is more common than on the BZ, I don't see why those pots can't be switched around?

I'm seriously thinking of picking it up myself. This bass has so many amazing features!
Really digging the body design, it's like a Peavey meets Aria meets Ken Smith....And the tone is ORGASMIC!!!
CRUSHING it as per. Loved the style of that intro! Can't wait to see what HB release next 🔥

It sure seems that way !!!! My EXACT thoughts !!!

The body reminds me of the Peavey Grind/Cirrus while the headstock reminds of the Ibanez BTB

It looks like a Peavey Cirrus.
Like the singer of Wrecking Ball ?
Yeah it does seems to resemble that of a peavey cirrus.
I have the peavy brilliant bit of kit
I've got a Peavey 5 string that gets WAY more compliments than my Rick. It's also WAY more comfortable to play than the Rick (stupid binding).
Rip the Cirrus though... its dead
I've had one for about six months and totally agree that it could easily cost double from another manufacturer. I haven't tried it with my big bass rig (Ashdown) but on my Roland Cube, pulling out the knob on the volume on the bass causes the amp to overdrive
Most people think my HB BZ-5000 NT cost me over 1k. They are floored when I tell them it was under $400. Love the sound and its 18v.
Just bought it a few weeks ago. Its a beauty...and so nice to touch. Love it!
I've had mine for around 3 months now, such a great bass to play even in passive mode..just throw on some flatwounds and thank yourself for it.

doesnt like ibanez BTB, but loves the harley BZ...hmmmm

Maybe if Ibanez sent him one he would like it ;)
Never said I didn't like the BTB, just don't care for the looks🤷♂️

YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The company that builds these ,Saein, was also building Peavey and Ibanez..
So the BTB and Cirrus comparisons seem valid
Groovy stuff man
I can't be the only one who got a Roundabout vibe from that bassline in the intro
New Harley Benton fan over this last year. Glenn Fricker, then all I see is dudes loving their gear.
Almost perfect exempt of the 35 scale for 5 and 6 string model
If i ever get another 6 string it'll be one of these. They look great.
Harley Benton has indeed stepped up their game.

I was about to quit playing bass at the beginning. But then I took a look and found it was on 1.25x speed. I’m relieved now.
The Cort B and A series while not as cheap as the HB are also great value for money.

Hopefully you got it. You deserve a bass guitar in your life
Amazing bass! Anybody knows how much it weights? Being light is an important parameter for me
@Yevgeniy Friedland 3.6 for a 5 stringed bass is not light? are you serious?
even most guitars are heavier lol
@Yevgeniy Friedland LOL! Dude, that is definitely on the lighter side. My Warwick Corvette Standard 5 Bubinga is right at 5 kilos. (Over 11 lbs!)
The 6 stringer is almost 6 kilos so roughly 12lbs
When you coming out with a line of affordable fret wraps? Keep killing it.
