- This is the full bass tab for Quiet Riot's Metal Health (Bang Your Head). I was given the master tapes for Quiet Riot's Metal Health, slowed them down, and and Fully Transcribed the entire song. Subscribe if you like it.

If you haven’t already done it please do “Don’t Wanna Let You Go” by QR. Very underrated song with good bass. Can’t seem to find much tabs around

Are you palm muting the E string for all the measures during the verses? Sounds so cool!
Thank you. And yes, I am palm muting throughout quite a lot. I kind of just go by feel on palm muting. I started out playing metal guitar, so the distortion was so heavy, I always use my palm to quiet down the guitar. I just brought it over on bass. Didn't even notice till you mentioned it. @@Nathan19863 Sure. It might take me a bit, I have a few in the works at the moment. But it seems like a lot of people are looking for Quiet Riot so it looks like a good tune.
I think, the beginning of the bass break (measure 106) has different rhythm in the Studio Version. The Bass is playing two 16s and two 8s Notes there (not three 8s). Otherwise good work!
Yeah, I just listened to the isolated track, and I think that's right. There is actually an extra D before the measure. So, yep, it's two sixteenths, then two eighths but the last one is D, so he rolls into the riff a little before the beat I think. When I was transcribing the bass track I couldn't hear the drums, so I must have just thought it started on the beat. Nice catch dude. If I ever do another version, I'll update it.

I was thinking it was on the A string Hahahaha....dude, too much work will make you stupid....Okay, so yes, you are correct, it is G, E, G, then the groove, but I think the groove might come in a little early....hmm...here let me listen to it again. If you're listening to the album mixed with drums, it might the be the kick drum you're hearing. Or, this could be a fake master track, I can't really verify these are the master tracks since they pretty much just get leaked on the internet with no verification. It does sound like the bass sound he's using, and it matches up perfectly timing wise, so I think it probably is.
When I listen to it a few times, I actually think the drummer might have surprised the bass player with an extra beat, because when the bass plays the G E G part he doesn't do it smoothly, there's a little hesitation. He might have meant to play the two G's and (knowing Quiet Riot at the time, probably drunk, stoned, or both...but hey, that's rocknroll) just missed it.
A lot of times drummers and bass players record together to get the groove, then the guitars and vocals are overdubbed. Sometimes even a rhythm guitar bass and drums are recorded together. Now, they're on separate tracks, but they're playing at the same time. So, it's rough when you're the bass player, cause they don't want to go back and re-record a good take if the drummer likes his side of the take. And if the band says it's fine, then that usually stands. So, it's hard to say.
If you are picking up on such small details that is great. It really shows that you want to learn and understand the music. And I love the feedback, so don't feel like you're criticizing. We are all learning every day no matter what our level of musicianship, and I love to hear other's opinions, or sometimes they just have a quicker ear than me on something, and I get to learn things.
So, thanks for commenting dude, it really does mean a lot that you take the time to care about the music that much.

I am pleased that my comments give you so much pleasure 😀 When i listen to the Studio Version of metal health (which has a very prominent bass sound), i definitely hear the bass playing two 16s (G,G), then two 8s (E,G) and then the main groove with A. but in the isolated bass track, you posted, it sounds like three 8s (GEG)... 🤔 Anyway - even Rudy sarzo (bass player of quiet riot) doesnt play this fill, when performing the song live - he starts straight with the main groove 😀
