    Good video and love the leather seats. Suggestions would be barf bags in the back just in case, a small L.E.D. flashlight to check the seats at night right after a drop, a dash cam to record and document, a regular size umbrella during the rainy seasons to help your passenger to and from your car and carry protection like a stun gun or pepper spray.

      Wes Thomas actually, they're fabric seats. But yes, that's all good advice!

      They look great no matter what and I forgot to add, carry a tire pressure gauge you can read at night many sold on amazon from 10-20 dollars, if a tire is low that can cost gas mileage and join AAA, they could help if you need a tow, a tire change and offer free gas, the membership is deductible.

    That's awesome! I'm driving part time, around 24 hours a week. Not making near that amount lol I started driving last month. I'm also in a college town, but the market here is slow with most of the college kids gone for the summer so i drive to a larger market when I'm not working on the weekends.

    Dude!! You rock!! I know your video is 2 years old and a few things have changed, but your basis is spot on!! I was actually planning a video that was basically what you said. I am grossing about 19.40 per hour driving part time, and I have a spreadsheet that calculates a bunch of stuff when I input some figures and keeps a running total of how much I make per hour among other things. Fuel costs me around 2.30 per hour and insurance is 150 per month (I have Rideshare insurance from Geico covering all three phases). You didn't talk about it, but I even started an LLC to protect my assets, which is certainly not required to drive but that is my choice. My take home after ALL expenses is probably around 10-12 per hour clean; if you drove 200 hours a month that is 2k-2.2k per month. Like you said, its all about managing expenses. I actually have GasBuddy card that saves me 5 cents per gallon at most stations. The catch there is they take it from a bank account rather than a credit card. Stations pay fees to do CC transactions so that's how they can save that money. I wanted a Costco but its too far away. Anyway, great job man!

    Another trick is get a Shell Bonus membership. It's free! You get 10 cents off. Plus, I have a Gas Buddy card, so I get another 5 cents off for a total of 15 cents off. Plus, Gas Buddy tells you what stations have the cheapest price. In Dallas, right now Shell regular is $2.54 per gallon, so I get it for $2.39! I also, Use Quickbooks for Self-Employed which tracks my mileage and expenses, plus I file my taxes for free!

    Yes Tamar you're correct it doesn't appear as if the Riders don't appreciate the clean nice cars I'm in the metropolitan area in these cheap people do not like the tip at all but but they like to complain about every little thing like Uber or navigation system is going crazy and I meant a guy that used to drive Uber three years ago in DC and they told me if they worked 25 hours they use to make a thousand bucks and cab companies Causeway more and a sedan than Uber does it should be a minimum charge of $7 when you get in the Uber

    I had to chime in too. I also bought a 2016 civic and want to be a Uber Driver. I know the 10th Gen Civic was made bigger than the older versions but Do you ever get any complaints on it being too small? Did you ever have to put 3 people in the back seat? I'm kinda worried about that.

      I don't anymore because I don't drive anymore (Not because I don't like it but because my wife and I are preparing to go abroad). But when I did, they were mainly for other people interested in driving. However, I did give them to people I got good vibes on to get as repeat passengers. Rule of thumb is that I've had them as a passenger at least once before but on occassion I would trust people. Hope that helps.

    • @EddieLeal
      @EddieLeal 5 років тому +5

      @@jamesk2418 I worked as a Pizza Hut delivery driver back in the early 90's in Killeen Texas right outside of Ft Hood. Did the dish washing part but was lucky enough not to have to help out with the onions. lol! ;) No such thing as Google maps back then so I had to use a paper map of the city to find the delivery addresses. I was an enlisted active duty soldier assigned to a unit on Ft Hood at the time. Worked as a mechanic. I had a wife and kid to support at the time. My enlisted pay barely covered our expenses. So I had to take on a part time job. It helped some but man was I tired. Had to get up and make morning accountability formation at 6 am. Working for someone else does have its perks but for some people its not worth the effort/pay. There are people out there that would rather struggle on thier own than submit to some demanding corporate entity that could care less about you. Just my personal opinion of course.

    Maybe Uber needs to allow their drivers a multistage or the ability to travel into a state other than the starting state. I know that Lyft is offering this option called " longer trips"... also, in Baton Rouge , LA my son , who drives only for Uber ( so far) has transported toddlers and babies along with their Moms... with no car seat. Could you make a plea for these companies to have rules about transporting children or young babies... it's actually illegal ... and I think there needs to be more awareness of these issues. Helpful video- I know there are " levels" of cars etc./ I actually have experience as a nurse, and wonder if either company has drivers with a medical background driving clients to doctors appointments etc./ also, there are pros and cons... lyft is not as well known here...liability is a concern... especially when transporting children , babies etc./ your information is helpful... but the money is better in larger areas. Nice set up and liked the tip about the car wash.

      I have the 2016 honda civic, pretty much the same as his, and I’ll tell you my average MPG is around 29-33, 35 at best but that’s rare, but I mostly travel in city than I do highway. I drive Uber part time, and been finding myself needing to refill about every 2 to 3 days for about $18-ish to $21-ish depending on how much I have left in the tank when I refuel, and again that’s 4-6 hours worth of driving a day. Now this man makes a grand a week, when I make a little more than half that a week from where I live which makes expenses a little bit tougher on me than it is for him even though we have the same car pretty much.

    I've been driving lyft for about 2 weeks in Atlanta Georgia... So far my best day was about $109.00 @ a little under 9hrs I've got 15 years experience in the mobile service industry... I'm not knocking lyft or Uber not seeing these $1000.00 a week payloads everyone keeps talking about...I was a small Buisness owner that sold out last September and started for lyft just to see for myself...I would day if I truly was making $1000.00 a week I would definitely stay in it full time. What city do you drive in my friend ???

    • @travelandrootbeer3850
      @travelandrootbeer3850  6 років тому

      Kevin Armstrong Lafayette, Indiana. First of all, I do agree that the market you're driving in matters but also, getting use to it. I definitely don't do $1000 every week. But I do close to that and have weeks where I do well over $1000. Once you figure out a good strategy for your area, you'll know what average you can do.

      Yeah, it's one or the other. Both years I've drove I've just done standard mileage dedcution and came out pretty good. The water bottles just came to about 30cents each buying in bulk. For the 1 in every 20-30 passengers that take them, it's worth tip incentive.

    Hi drivers the best way to make money with ride share is to have three drivers on one car
    One guy drives days monday through friday and the other two. On alternating pm shifts with full day alternating saturday and sunday. When i shared a cab this works give two driver every other day off and full time for the day guy. Good luck. Drive everyday till 100 is yours this guy gives the partners 500 a week net needvto do about 150 a shift

    • @jerrysmith9271
      @jerrysmith9271 5 років тому

      That gives day driver 40 hour option and each pm driver 36 hours a week on the car. But partners have tolive near each other and have a parking place for the car. Or work each day until you make a hundred and go home

      Alberto Garcia If you like a more concrete example, put it this way... gas in my area is around $2.20 a gallon. I can fill up from empty for under $25. Generally speaking, I use about $5-$7 in gas for every $60-$70 earned. Obviously this can fluctuate. I've spent $7-$8 for $50 before, and $5-$6 for $75 before.

    This dude is a clown at 2:00 he is saying that you can save 5 buck a week on Costco gas and on 11:00 he is saying he don't care about 50$ a month. So he don't care about 50$ a month but do care about 20$ a month, therefore net saving negative 30 $ right there. Very Smart.

    Your video is no good. Why am I saying this? It's because you talking about your app on your phone to keep up with your trips you kind of stutter over the name so I could not catch it so I look down where most people have links to get the app or places to buy such things as your phone mount you do not have this on your next video find where you can do this when you talk about something that could be interesting to someone put the link where they can find it or give them my name of a store where they can buy it. Thank you sorry if I come off so harsh. But I thought you should know.

    honestly the way to make money on ridesharing is all dependent on where you are driving some cities just do not pay enough plain and simple .. for example in orlando an uberx driver gets paid 52 cents a mile ( after their cut ) that is horrible and no way in hell can you make money without surges ...if you drive 500 miles your making 250 ... and keep in mind you have to get your passengers so that 500 miles turns into a 1000 ... you just filled up roughly 80 bucks worth of gas here ( 2 fill ups to get 1000 miles ) .. minus tolls and wear and tear you are making less than 150 a day ... and 500 miles driven will take you at least 15 hours if you average 35 miles an hour which is hella good here ... and im not here to say your video isnt correct im just stating stay away from Orlando anyone in Orlando considering driving dont you will put miles and miles on your car for measly pay

      Tammer Mashni I agree, that's why I said in the video that everybodies area is different and a lot depends on what the market is like. That's why I advise everyone to drive part time first before jumping in all the way.

      yea definitely .. I like your video I wasnt trying to say you did bad I just really really hate the market I am in for uber and lyft I mean it is truly shitty .. you have no idea how much 52 cents a mile sucks and I do select but rarely get pings .. its horrible and they should ban it here .. I rather the taxis get the money than these cheap bastard riders get a cheap fare
