I ordered a carding machine about a week ago and was worried I had done the wrong thing. So glad I saw this video last night it has put my mind at rest so thank you. It should be arriving next week .................so excited. Love your videos, they are so clear and you don't faff about. Thank you.
You are so welcome and I hope you enjoy your carding machine, Living Felt did a good video on making a batt too recently, maybe check it out as well xx
Hi philippa i am a really big fan of you, and i do needle felting too! When im needle felting i like to have a video on the background and when i do i always watch your videos! I hope you go on with what you do and i support you Truly ,keep going philippa!
Thank you! That's so lovely of you, I have lots more things planned, so many ideas but never enough time! I too love watching videos whilst working, thanks for watching mine 😊 ❣️
Thanks Pippa, I enjoyed that. It's so good of you to share the research you've done which I'm sure took up a few hours at least of your time. This felting lark is a beautiful craft which brings together some lovely people. I'm delighted to be part of your community.
Thank you so much, yes, it does take me time but everyone is so helpful and supportive here and seem to find my content useful, thanks for being here 😊 xx
I have just received my carder. you ask what would you do?, the answer is PANIC. So I watch you again which helps a great deal, so thank you very much. Now I can mix the colours I want. ,xx
As always a brilliant vlog! I am so glad u posted this as I was wondering how you were getting along with the machine! You are doing a spectacular job! I am so glad you are enjoying this as if I remember right these little doodads can be a bit pricey!
Yes, they are so expensive and even second hand I had to really think about it. As I felt a lot it's great for me but there are lots of greater art batt sellers out there which is a better option for most. Thanks for watching ❣️ xx
So, I don't know anyone who has a drum carder and couldn't find a second hand one, thus I treated myself to the same model as you have 🙀 x first thing I managed to mess up was the packer brush, I've mangled it cos I forgot to put it in place when it needed to be! managed to straighten the bristles a bit and I don't think I've damaged the teeth! Note to self 'pay attention' and don't run before you can walk xxxx😸
Oh my goodness, that is a nice present! I really like it because of its size, I hope you enjoy it. I think the packer brush is cheapish to replace with a small dog brush if needed, exciting new toy! X
Thanks for sharing your experiences with the carding drum. Can you make carded bats of short fiber merino from long fiber merino top by cutting it and carding it so it's easier for needle felting?
I haven't tried that, I would test it first as some Merino's can get bobbly, but if I get a chance I might give that a go. I think it would work fine just carding the merino as is but that is a fun experiment you have given me 😊xx

So many wonderful mixes to make - just beautiful and such a great way to use up little bit of wool ❤
Oh Shamma, it's great fun, love mixing blends up, my Highland cows are going to be very unusual colours 😄 xx
@@feltsbyphilippa oh what fun!! I cannot wait to see them :) I’m so glad you’re enjoying it!!
How interesting , what beautiful colours you can create
Thankyou for the demmo Philippa xx
It's definitely good fun, I'm enjoying using all the little bits I have and combining them into one x.
I actually have a carder machine, carder board, and carder brushes. I have used the board and brushes but have not used the machine yet.
I like the look of the carder board but my carding machine is just perfect really and I'm pleased I got a small one xx

Awesome carder, thanks for the demo it was very useful.
Thanks, I am really enjoying using it xx
I'm very jealous! I would love to get a carder. I think your little one looks perfect for makjng batts for your own use
It was a very good find second hand but even then it's expensive, I nearly didn't go for it but glad I did now xx
I love this. As I get better, I will have to get me one of these.
It's definitely a good tool to have but they are very expensive, this second hand one was a much better price x
I knew it was an Ashford, I have an Ashford rigid heddle loom and recognised the clamp!
A very good make, pleased I got it second hand though xx

Exciting, I think just go slow when turning, it allows the wools to mix, have fun xx
What an interesting video. I love the way you can make any shade by mixing the colours together. Thanks or sharing with us.
Thanks, yes, it definitely works but just took a few goes, quicker than my carding brushes still xx

This is such good information to have. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, it's a good tool to play with but a very pricey purchase, I got lucky with it being second hand x

Thanks Ann xx
Way to expensive here. But would love one, it would be great instead of doing all my wool by hand.
Yes, it's definitely very expensive even though I got it second hand but fun to play with now x
I love it ❤😊
