I've tried to do these mini-vlog intros for my reviews this past month. I couldn't for a couple films for filming reasons, but I had one on Venom 2 and No time to Die.
I just got out of seeing this in an early screening. I personally think the critics really missed the mark. This movie was phenomenal, heart felt, and it’s a top 3 MCU movie of all time for me. I want to watch it one more time before I confirm that thought but it really was touching and I was glad to see the MCU take risks that surprised me, made me emotional, be thoughtful about complex ideas, made me think about life in different ways. I couldn’t have asked for more
For me,the movie was a pleasent suprise.I was kind of worried it wasn't going to be all that good, but it was really solid, and it was the first mcu movie that didn't feel like one.Not one of my favorties, but pretty good nonetheless.

Just saw Eternals, Loved It! Happy to agree that the film couldn’t flesh out all the characters. Just too many of them. The non-linear story landed well with me and I didn’t have the problems Sean had with that. And I’m so glad the MCU finally proved they can do something different. This is closer to a Christopher Nolan movie than a MCU movie (and it’s definitely better than Tenet 😂). Great review as always Sean. Even when I don’t agree with everything you’re saying I still learn stuff 😁👍
Regardless of all the mixed reviews, I’m still super excited for this movie. The trailers hit all the right notes for me and reviews that are more positive talk about loving all the stuff I’m looking forward to most
It's so interesting reading and watching the reviews because some people absolutely loved it and had a lot of introspection. Some people thought it was good, some people thought it was average, and some people thought it was meh. It gets me pretty hyped because Zhao made something so different and thought-provoking that it's either very confusing and messy to some or perfect and beautiful to others. If everything is liked then it cannot be loved. Got my IMAX tickets!
I love your honest opinion and how you gave legit reasons you had problems with the film. We aren't gonna like every film unfortunately! The more and more I here about this film, the more I feel it should have just been a disney plus show with like 6-8 episodes. Would have had way more time to explore these characters. Even the Flashback format youre describing reminds me of once upon a time, arrow, and lost. And none of those shows could have worked as a movie. I'm excited to see it still, but more curious to see how the talk of this movie will be when it hits the public. It's reminding alot of the last jedi tbh.

That's really not the point though. He might actually enjoy the movie but word on the street is the movie is a mixed bag at best. I could say Batman and Robin is my greatest movie of all time but it doesn't change the fact that the movie was awful and almost ruined the superhero movie genre as a whole
I understand ur point, don't get me wrong. I'm simply just trying to share my thoughts originally vs what I have been hearing. I'll form my own thoughts when I actually see it.
I need something different. The MCU is becoming a bit stale and I love the MCU . But it’s been 11 years of the same formula. It needs to change at least to keep me interested. The books do so many things different to keep the readers invested. If the films are going to continue going and be attached to this universe it needs to change so based on your review I think I will enjoy this movie. 👍
Love your reviews Sean. Not some guy who defends every single mcu movie because of how big of an mcu fanboy you are. Very honest. Thanks for your honest thoughts.
This was the one MCU film I was really skeptical about seeing this year. I saw Black Widow and I enjoyed it! But it wasn’t anything special? I haven’t seen Shang-chi yet though. I knew this would be a very different MCU film, just judging by the trailers to be honest! I was very intrigued to hear your thoughts though Sean. I’m looking forward to your spoiler review!!
I saw one review that basically said 'it looks the best of all the MCU movies, the action scenes are incredible, but it hopes that all of this hides the fact that it doesn't have a cohesive script'. It sounds like Sean would agree with that, but I think the underlying issue is if you hire Chloe Zhao to both direct and help write your movie then you are going to get a Chloe Zhao style movie. All of her other films touch on what makes this movie not an MCU film. Looking at humanity, the existential problem of what is good and what is bad, she delves deeply into that question and yet Feige hired her to do Eternals. So did he want a movie like that, but if so did he force her to put in the MCU nuggets to try and keep the MCU fans happy? It could also be she just wasn't ready to step up to a major blockbuster movie franchise after only doing three smaller films and so got in over her head which is why the movie feels muddled to a lot of people. Again how much control did Feige have over the making of Eternals, or did he keep his hands off and let Chloe do her own thing?
Always love your reviews. Very unbiased even when you want to be. I knew this movie would have problems kept getting captain marvel feels form the trailers. Sounds like it’s slightly better
Omg this totally ruined my excitement level. When I first saw the trailer I was so excited but when the reviews came it kinda disappoint me but I’m still gonna watch it because I just wanna know what is going on in that movie. Thx for the review.
Interesting take, I'm very much looking forward to this film and I'm curious what I'll think. Based off of everything I've heard, from both sides, I'm pretty confident I'll like it but I'll have to wait and see
The shots and visuals were amazing the settings were great but I know it’s hard to put all these NEW characters together in one movie but I feel they should have put a familiar camio since these new films are supposed to add to the universe from where the last ended off. If we are really gonna get behind the scenes of after thanos I wanna see what’s going on to the people who actually fought thanos. But till Spider-Man No Way Home cya.
Nobody that I know really knows who The Eternals are, me kind of included. It might be as good as Guardian's Of The Galaxy (saying they were really obscure characters before they're film came out ) BUT It might not ! Im pretty excited for it so we'll see 😀😀😀
i personally love that they took risks and broke out of the mcu formula. The more of those they better they'll get. And it's not like i dind't have a lot of fun watching it so..
A week from tomorrow, I'm going to an advance screening. But my excitement level is pretty much nonexistent. Even with talk of the typical post-credits scenes and some good performances, etc., Phase Four with the Multiverse hasn't been something I've been able to get on board with. The ad campaign really did nothing for me. Wonder what I'll think.
This movie is a Jack Kirby artwork brought to life. Being a Marvel Studios movie it is good but it is my least favourite in the MCU. I couldn’t connect with these characters as well.
I expected a B- and 6.5 but wow an MCU a C and 5.5 that's so low for MCU standards. Would this be at the new bottom in your MCU ranking or it's still Thor: The Dark World?
Hi Sean! It's tough to talk about the movies that you don't like, but I think you pointed out some things it did well. I respect the ambition of the creative team. It's good they are taking risks, but I don't think this one paid off for them. Would have been better as a series like you mentioned!
I don't know, the reasons I wasn't crazy about it were different from what I was expecting going in. It's tough to elaborate on without getting into specifics.
If you're right, I could have this MCU entry at the very bottom of my own ranking with Iron Man 2, Hulk and Thor The Dark World. In all honesty, I am both excited and nervous. Reason I'm excited is because I am a huge MCU fan myself and I am a fan of Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie. Reason I'm nervous is since you said the film is jumping from timeline to timeline, I'm worried that it won't live up to the hype that this one is getting. But I am curious to see how this will differ from other MCU entries.
@@paulelroy6650 Well, I'm just worried that it will touch base on more than one piece of history and then it won't touch base on how the character in that timeline got to where they will be.
From the multiple stuff I'm hearing about this movie I'm thinking if it should of been a D+ show instead. Because that way it could explore it's themes, story & characters a lot easily if that was the case.
Ironically, seeing all these mixed reviews has made me more hyped to see the movie for myself; it seems like everyone's in agreement about it being more unique and taking more creative liberties than most other MCU movies, and the polarisation is just surrounding how well it's pulled those risks off. Your review was giving me strong BvS vibes before you actually directly compared it to BvS, and that's a movie I initially didn't rate but grew to love upon repeat viewings - so I'm just gonna try to go in with an open mind and see what it has to offer😊
So according to what you have said and what I have heard from others, the biggest negative point in this movie is it's inconsistent, they should have split this movie into two parts and explained this movie story slowly in two movies.

How about your opinion about the movie? Your opinions are more important than others.
Man, Eternals is a one movie thing... it was never supposed to even have a continuation
And there is a lot of critics that fell in love with this movie! Its just that it is a divisive film... Dune is too! Tenet too!
The final Space-Troll/Faun CGI looked, to my wife & I, like they took it out of a PBS Narnia special
I will always be excited for every MCU film and I think all of them are enjoyable but the mixed reactions do have me intrigued.
A lot of excellent movies get mixed reviews. Art is divisive and Chloe Zhao is an artist at heart.
@@AS-ri1mb How did you found Batman vs superman ?
@@gigigigigi1534 I liked it. Snyder is an amazing cinematographer.
Omggg ur setup looks just like Chris Stuckmanns!💚
I need something different. The MCU is becoming a bit stale and I love the MCU . But it’s been 11 years of the same formula. It needs to change at least to keep me interested. The books do so many things different to keep the readers invested. If the films are going to continue going and be attached to this universe it needs to change so based on your review I think I will enjoy this movie. 👍
It covers 7000 years of history and feels like it.
Great review, thank you,
I will definitely wait for it to come out on blu ray, cheers mateee
I’m very excited for this film! Mainly excited for Ikaris. Hopefully I won’t be let down by the film, but I’m not expecting much.
the vibranium joke in the trailer has me cringing every time i’m in the theatre seeing the trailer i hate it 😂
I was expecting it not to be that entertaining cause I wasn’t that hyped for it to begin with
Love your reviews Sean.
If you missed Shang Chi, you missed big time.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I still can't wait to see it! 💪
I think it’s cause this movie is very different from what I’ve seen so far. It makes sense that the reviews have been more mixed
Personally when I go into the movies, I usually go in with low expectations for every movie I see. I’ll prob end up liking it more that way.
That's a great strategy, love this mindset
Interesting take, I'm very much looking forward to this film and I'm curious what I'll think. Based off of everything I've heard, from both sides, I'm pretty confident I'll like it but I'll have to wait and see
Love your vids Mr. Chandler
Just got my tickets to see this on opening day. Can't wait. Great review, Sean!
Me and my two friends are going to see this movie sometime and hopefully it doesn’t suck because the trailers looked really good!
Im pretty excited for it so we'll see 😀😀😀
Very good and well explained review Sean. Loved the video!
i personally love that they took risks and broke out of the mcu formula. The more of those they better they'll get. And it's not like i dind't have a lot of fun watching it so..
After your initial reaction video, I couldn't believe you didn't like it. After I watched the movie, I couldn't believe you were right.
If it sets up the cosmic MCU I'm all in. I'm excited to see it.
I just watched your quick review for this lmao
You were so sad when you gave your final review
Guess it was a disappointing marvel movie
Most likely disappointment
@@ludasrayjin1158 yea this movie got a lower score then Thor Dark world
I’ll still go see Eternals, but I had a feeling the critical reception would be underwhelming.
I'm getting the feeling of 'cloud atlas' from this
I don’t know what to make of it, tbh.
I already could tell days ago that Sean wouldn't like this.
I don't know, the reasons I wasn't crazy about it were different from what I was expecting going in. It's tough to elaborate on without getting into specifics.
Kinda liking the new format we have going here 😁 pretty neat.
You can hear the extreme disappointment in his voice
If you're right, I could have this MCU entry at the very bottom of my own ranking with Iron Man 2, Hulk and Thor The Dark World. In all honesty, I am both excited and nervous. Reason I'm excited is because I am a huge MCU fan myself and I am a fan of Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie. Reason I'm nervous is since you said the film is jumping from timeline to timeline, I'm worried that it won't live up to the hype that this one is getting. But I am curious to see how this will differ from other MCU entries.
I don't think it will be that bad since it's refreshing and fun
Not sure what the issue is with the movie jumping from past to future?
Why does jumping from timeline to timeline seem a negative to you
@@paulelroy6650 Well, I'm just worried that it will touch base on more than one piece of history and then it won't touch base on how the character in that timeline got to where they will be.
Now I want yo see where this movie stacks for you in the overall MCU rankings. How low is it gonna be?
My younger self would've been typing in a ton of curse words
Remember those rumors about this going to be the greatest movie of all time?
