Zero public funds should be used for this concussion centre. It is a complete disgrace that public land will be used for this trash. How about affordable housing, healthcare, parks, urban farming? Far more important to maintaining a healthy society compared to a sheet of ice where concussed millionaires chase a rubber disc while the poor cheer them on.

A city, in order to scale its economy, eventually needs to do large construction and infrastructure projects like this.
They're essential.
Because, when executed correctly, they become a windfall for the cities that host them.
The windfall generated, if executed right.
You're not wrong, the things you want, you can fight for. And, there's recourse to do so. But, these things are nuanced, and complicated.
It's a small patch, of highly lucrative/centralized land. Planting worldclass attractions there, means, that everyone needs to filter/journey/travel through the city to get there.
It's a big plus.
