- Ukrainian Associated Press journalist Mstyslav Chernov joins us for an in-depth interview about how he and others risked their lives to document the Russian invasion. He is the director of the new documentary, "20 Days in Mariupol," which has just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. It tells the story of how Chernov and his colleagues documented the first three weeks of Russia's siege of the strategic eastern port city of Mariupol, even after many international journalists had fled. "The whole city spiraled down into complete chaos. People were in shock, in panic. They didn't know what to do," says Chernov, whose team was helped by locals in evading Russian soldiers and later escaping the city with their footage. The film is a co-production by the Associated Press and PBS Frontline.

There are no words for the atrocities I’ve seen in videos of bombings and the aftermath: the death before my eyes of a family trying to flee on foot, the mass graves, the tortures of civilians, dogs left behind, dogs tortured and eaten, and so much more. It blows my mind that some believe a far fetched notion that you could hire enough people to act-that well-without the world seeing the degree of organization that would require, amazes me. For every horrible thing that occurs, that tactic is used to attempt to sway public outcry, by creating cynicism, is itself an atrocity. What is the end game of global propagandists? That’s an important question-the end game.
Yes indeed, the more you look and think about it while taking into account all information available since 1991 the end game must be to destroy Russia break it up into little republics that are then wholly owned and operated by Wall Street investors. The Kiev Junta opened indiscriminate artillery fire on Bucha. The Russians withdrew, but the junta had slaughtered hundreds of Ukrainians. They then tied up the the casualties from the shelling and presented it as "Russians executed Ukrainians".

How do you reconcile the claim the woman who is recorded saying "fuck the EU" is supposedly responsible for a massive, nationwide, pro-EU integration democratic uprising? It's truly ridiculous to believe that Nuland or the US was responsible for this pro-EU trade agreement/integration, democratic uprising that is now called Euro-Maidan.
Take note of the "Euro" part of the Euro-Maidan. It was sparked because Putin's puppet-proxy-president scuttled the overwhelmingly popular free-trade and visa-free regime that had been negotiated with the EU. Ukraine wanted closer relations with the EU, and Yanokovych unilaterally tried to push them into a closed trade union with Russia, instead. That is why it happened.
So how or why do you figure that a woman who is on record saying "fuck the EU" would have orchestrated this singularly pro-EU uprising? That doesn't make sense, right from the start.

In early 2015, I met a western-Ukrainian, at one of my local hospitals. I didn't want to be insensitive to him not knowing his sympathies/loyalties, so I just said I was sorry that things were so tough over there right now. The gesture surprised him, I think; likewise, his reply surprised me. He shook his head and said, "I'm sorry, but I don't think you realize what your country just did to mine." I figured as much then, and I know even better now.

Nobody forbids foreigners to visit Mariupol or any city in Russia. You can conduct any shooting. Not a single policeman will take away your phone. Only the residents themselves can report you to the police if they don’t like something when filming.

If anything Russia constantly asked since 2014 for the implementation of the Minsk Agreement in which Ukraine agreed it would stop killing its own Russian speaking citizens and grant them equal rights. But Ukraine opted to break the Minsk agreement and attacked its own citizens killing them just because they spoke the Russian language.
