In my opinion the best and most accurate depiction of Bane outside the comics is from the Arkham Origins video game. They really managed to expertly portray Bane's intelligence and struggle with Venom as well as his Santa Priscan background in that game.
Rocksteady just made him a brute
Young Justice Bane is the best.
Bane from Batman: The Telltale Series game was good too
I think the telltale batman game depicted the best Bane.
I really do love Tom Hardy's mission of the character at people are still dressing as him for Halloween all the time that just shows how popular hits character of bane has become I even like to Gotham version but I feel that no one can talk what Tom Hardy has done and we can all agree it was better than what we got in Batman and Robin
The best thing about him is just how incredibly quotable he is:
"Peace has cost you your strength. Victory has defeated you."
"The shadows betray you because they belong to me."
"Speak of the Devil, and he shall appear."
"Do you feel in charge?"
"I'm necessary evil."
"No one cared who I was until I put on the mask."
"Once Gotham is ashes, then you have my permission to die."
"Your punishment must be more severe!"
"I'm on your schedule, Captain"
“Thank you”
@@dadeleemurphy85 Bane: You're a detectiiiv.... fiiiguurrr it out
"Such a beautiful voice"
I actually liked this bane. I always thought the hate was unjust and that he was a genuinely great villain throughout
Bane promoted healthy diets for his henchmen
I didn't hate it, but it could've been better. The voice sucked though.😕
Agreed.
@@Nick-up5wv His IMAX prologue voice was much better.
@@jerbs5346 I wish it sounded like in Injustice
RIP Kevin Conroy you will surely be missed after putting so much joy into our hearts.
The guy is a legend. He went to ground zero after 9/11 and helped keep the rescue workers and volunteers fed and provisioned, and even did the Batman voice for them. He mentions this on the DVD commentary for Perchance to Dream.
I love his voice, far more interesting and distinct than just giving him a typical "gruff big guy" voice.
I absolutely love Bane in Dark Knight Rises just because of the voice. He always sounded muffled and yet the other characters react like noo not that when they should actually go what I can't understand you. And I love how he reveals the letter and he's basically like I'm the villain and I have a letter written by Commisiner Gordon with no actual proof it's written by commisiner Gordon saying oh I did I'm responsible for Harvey Dent's death and everyone just goes oh my gosh did he really do it. I don't think I can trust Gordon anymore
I love it. No apologies. That element of fun lingers after the movie and you get to talk like Bane for the next 4 hours until your family starts throwing rotten veggies.
His soft spoken, but articulate voice, paired with his size and intensity made him incredibly menacing. An enigma, and unlike Riddler, one you don't really want to be solved. I LOVE this Bane. I wish he acted more like Bane from Arkham Origins, but this was a weird critique from where I'm sitting. I think he gets parodied because he's so iconic, not because he sounds weird. That's like suggesting people do Tony Montana voices because he sounded like a goofball. No, it's because they are badass characters who are larger than life. Nothing against Vee though, obviously free to his opinions. I'm not even the biggest fan of The Dark Knight movies, the only thing they did very well in my opinion was the villains.
I freaking love Bane in this movie. I think Tom Hardy is fantastic, I genuinely love the voice, because it's genuinely menacing while also being hilarious, and they nailed his dominating mental and physical prowess, his eloquent speech, and his calculating nature. The only problem is that he was sidelined and labeled as a henchman to a much dumber, less menacing, less interesting villain whose death was somehow even worse than his.
and no venom how can you have a bane with no venom
Well to be accurate, he actually wasn't a henchman. Daggett's authority over him was just perceived power that Bane allowed him to maintain, because of the purpose it served. As he said, "Your money and infrastructure have been important - till now!" The characters may refer to him as a henchman, but that is strictly FROM the perspective of those characters, as they actually think he is one. He wasn't even even Talia's henchman, as they were both working in unison and devoted to one another. Bane was meant to be the powerful and menacing distraction - for Bruce as well as the city, so that Talia could infiltrate the Wayne organization. It was actually more cunning than people give it credit for.
@@BadassRaiden I mean, yes, he was a genius, but he's still pushed aside and lamely disposed of so Talia can take over as the real threat.
He doesn’t have venom, he doesn’t have the proper suit, his voice is terrible. He is not bane
@@Yourubeei Well the only movie Bane to have all that was Bane in Batman and Robin and if you think that Bane is better you're actually delusional. He doesn't have to be ripped from the comic to be good. Sit down and get over yourself.
I loved his voice acting. It was the best part and it makes sense because of the mask. I didn’t even know people hated it
Did they?
People don't hate the voice, it's honestly quite iconic
@@filipmajewski8382 ....there were some....overwrought moments with his voice...however....he is a cartoon character....and he did a wonderful job....i imitate him pretty well to amuse my son...and i loved the mask he wore....
Exactly, literally had zero clue it was hated, where I’m from everybody loved Bane

Rest In Peace Kevin Conroy, you're so lucky you got to have him in your outros :( ❤️
Ya I wished I would be able to get one. But alas
i love Banes voice, it’s comical but also has gravitas and weight to it imo
Definitely I have no complaints with it It was menacing who is this brolic like mastermind who can barely speak

I enjoyed the Bane’s voice, the combination of highly articulate and nondenominational accent gave me international villain vibes

I was part of the crowd of that stadium scene at Heinz Field. It was shot in the middle of July, it was hot as balls, and we were wearing cold weather clothing for most of the shoot. Let me tell you when Bane came out and made that announcement none of us could understand a word he said.
Lucky bastard
Wow bro that's super cool 😎 🥶
“I am the league of shadows.” I’ve been loving this series!
Bane's death in TDKR is so instantaneously-quick and unmemorable that even after watching the film several times, this video is actually what Made me realize how and when he dies in the movie. That's pretty bad for a character who is the catalyst for almost every event in the movie.
for a character so unmemorable, it sure is remembered by a hell of a lot of people lmao.
I thought for the longest time he was RUN OVER by the bat bike, not shot. That's how forgettable it is
I genuinely read Bane with this voice now. I like it. But I get that it's an acquired taste.
I think what could have made the reveal at the end better was Talia saying she told Bane to deal with Batman. However he wanted. She just needed Gotham to fall and to destroy it in the end. Bane could have eluded a couple of times and hints that he wasn't the mastermind out of it all. And then after Bane was shot a later scene shows him being imprisoned. Bane's whole job of the movie is basically to break Batman physically, mentally, and spirituality.
Came here just to watch your outro with Kevin, we all loved that man so much.
This was my one of three legitimate complaints with The Dark Knight Rises: Talia was revealed to be the mastermind. She should have been Bane’s “Ace-in-the-hole” against Bruce.
I couldn't help but laugh when I heard Bane's voice in the dark knight rises. He sounded a bit too much like Deckard Cain in the Diablo games. I was always waiting to hear "hello my friend, stay a while and listen"
I love this version of Bane and his voice. I thought his voice was generally liked. I guess I've been misunderstanding the memes.
Tom Hardy’s Bane is my favorite official version of Bane, outside of the comics, though he obviously could still be a lot better. I actually like the voice, even though it is dumb, partly because it’s unique, partly because I kinda do like hearing it, and partly because of Tom Hardy’s reasoning for using it. The actual words he chooses to say are also just really good and feel like Bane, and his mannerisms are really good too. The way he acts is also just how Bane is. As for his overall design, I like it, but I think it would have been better if his vest was black instead of tan, as that would have been closer to comics while not looking campy. I am bothered by the Talia thing, but not to the same extent as most people, and honestly I feel like he was still acting on his own. Like Talia was his boss, but he was allowed to go about the plan however he felt was best. I see Talia as more of Bane’s supervisor, while Bane’s a team lead.
8/10 for Tom Hardy’s Bane. He’s not the best we could possibly get, but I think he’s the best we have gotten officially. There is one fan version of Bane I’ve seen that I actually like better, but if we’re only counting the official ones, then we haven’t done better yet, though we most definitely can.
Sorry for the tldr
I think Arkham origins does the best version of bane outside of the comic
I also like Tom Hardy's Bane a lot, but I found myself *really* Shane West's Bane from *Gotham* season 5...
They used Hardy's Bane as a base, and tried to improve what they could, changed stuff here and there... and they replaced Talia with Nyssa, played by Jaime Murray, who IMO did a much better job as this arc's Big Bad.
Never change your outro please 🙏🏾 R.I.P Kevin Conroy
Legendary performance by Tom . Best villain monologue in the swears
I came across your channel about 2 days ago and pretty much binged watched all your Batman videos. I gotta say: I might not agree with everything but I honor the fact that you are very precise in your wording, separating things like writing, performance and looks. Wish more people would approach the Batman lore with this attitude. Good job, Vee!
Ahhhhh You typed like a devoted fan, nothing held back - unadmirable, but mistaken
I think Bane's mask may have been the reason why he didn't feel any of Batman's attacks in the first fight.
That’s how I interpreted it. Since the Dark Knight trilogy is supposed to be more grounded it wouldn’t be realistic to have his comic accurate venom that instantly gives him super strength. So instead I think his mask is supposed to be constantly dosing him with painkillers. So now even though his strength is still within the realm of human, he’s able to hit harder and take more hits because he doesn’t feel the pain
@@jpyanity443 Yes, we know Batman was rusty and past his best but his attacks would have affected a regular person. Plus, Batman was running on adrenaline so against anyone else, he would have likely been victorious. Bane had an unfair advantage in some ways but of course when his mask is damaged, he's actually at a disadvantage because he's heavily reliant on it. I think it was a good creative choice for Bane. My only criticisms are that the final fight could have been so much better and should have been longer. His death scene was underwhelming and he didn't need to serve anyone. He could have been his own man but he wasn't. Before the end, the film has you believing that he is and that is why he works so well as the main villain for most of the movie.
yeah, his mask is confirmed to distribute a pain relief anesthetic.
Bane's voice was the best part of the film
I loved this Bane. His voice is what makes him stand out and makes since with the mask. To me the mask and jacket Bane of this movie is Iconic. Picking on his voice and even Batman’s voice never made any sense to me when the movie overall was so good and at that time it was so rare to get a good superhero movie. Some people will hate anything if it’s not exactly how they wanted it to be because that’s how they saw it as a kid and loved it
You know what happened Vee you need to address it for the batman fans
RIP Kevin Conroy/THE Batman
Rest in peace Kevin
RIP Kevin conroy I'm so sick rn still can't believe it
I applaud you for being one of the few people who actually criticize these movies. Too many people shy away from pointing out the flaws
It never really came across that way to me. I always understood it as Bane was set loose by Talia on Gotham, his methodology and tactics his own, with Talia benefiting and moving in secret.
I think it’s perfect for what they were going for because I’m the movie his mouth was torn to shreds so bad that he had permanent nerve damage so bad he needed the mask or he would be crippled by the pain so him to have that weird voice made it much more believable
Here is one of my issues I have with Dark Knight rises. Bruce Wayne is gonna to go into retirement over a girl who was not going to wait on him.
Yeah that’s stupid
A girl he had feelings for since he was a child. She literally gives him the most meaningful part of his philosophy in Begins "what I DO that defines me". She represented his one hope for a normal life, and because Alfred burned her letter, she died with him believing that had he been able to save her, they would have been together. Not stupid, not even a little bit.
@@carterslade8771 I stand by what I said.
To be fair, he didn't know Rachael had chosen Harvey until halfway thru this movie.
One of my favorite lines of his, “Time To Go Mobile.”
I love this bane, his voice may be his weakest attribute but it's also his strongest in a way.
I am the league of shadows
It’s funny how a luchador mask is “unrealistic” where in this established world there is a man fighting crime while dressed as a bat.
I'm so happy I watched this movie dubbed in my language (Brazilian Portuguese), bro he sounds MENACING, Guilherme Briggs voice for Bane was on point. He sounds agressive but yet so calm, calculated, like he is in absolute control, PLUS, you can actually hear what he is saying xD
Siim mermão, a dublagem brasileira é muito boa
I'm so happy that we can laugh at this voice. The Harley Quinn cartoon has made this voice so funny that I can not imagine hearing that voice in a non-comedic context.
Actually, I'd say Catwoman was one of the villains that Nolan portrayed most accurately. Anne Hathaway's Selina is (for the most part) completely amoral, as all cats are. Too many Catwoman interpretations show her as either diabolically evil or almost completely good; she should be smack in the middle morally.
My issues with this bane is that Nolan failed to fully understand him by ignoring his Hispanic heritage no mention of venom in any way and not fully utilizing his intelligence by making him a henchman my perfect live action bane would be a combination of Batman and Robin’s bane and the dark knight rises bane that doesn’t mean he has to dress like a wrestler but for me he would feel more like bane cause they had a missed opportunity to have the mask be a way of him getting the venom but venom was completely ignored it’s a key element of the character as much as his intelligence
The mask for this Bane was nothing but an air filter. They should made the mask with like CO2 Cartridges that had the venom inside. To activate it Bane needed to hit a button on the back of his mask.
😐That was one sentence
Smh 🤦♂️ none of the movies are meant to be comic accurate it’s a new story based of a few stories 😂 as are all super hero movies for the most part trying to make sure he is perfect down to his Spanish heritage is dumb and will leave it open to more criticism by die hard fans doing a whole new rendition of a character without straying to far away from the comic is a studios best bet
@@jaebrowne6780
Yes
I think this Bane is very good as an imposing big villain who feels like Batman’s final challenge in the trilogy, I just wish they went with a different voice for him
I love that I see you in every single channel I follow
@@dr.wolfstar1765 I’ve seen you plenty of times before myself
“Big” meanwhile he’s the same height, almost shorter than Batman
@@sadchild9478 Yeah he’s not that big in real life, but they make him feel big in the movie
You merely adopted the creepy stalking- fat piranha was BORNINNIT, Molded by it @@dr.wolfstar1765
There is also the storytelling issue. They want us to get all fired up for the great, fateful showdown between these two great nemeses that are Batman and Bane when Bane did not appear in this trilogy until its last part! Sure, the League of Shadows was Batman's bane (pun intended) since the beginning, but Bane himself is absent from the first two movies entirely; he's not even hinted at. He is a completely new hire, probably an afterthought, an attempt to fill in the void left by Joker whose absence is never explained.
When I 1st heard his voice in the plane scene I thought it was Darth Vader
Looks like Nolan has a fetish for characters with bizarre voices.
I loved this bane outside the voice Because instead of making him jus strong they made him extremely intelligent a combination of brain and brawn
That's what Bane was supposed to be remember he found out that Batman was Bruce Wayne then proceeded to find the Batcave under Wayne Manor and break Batman's back putting him temporarily out of commission
Bane is suppose to be a Brain and Brawn's character. It's just that just cause he's buff people keep misrepresenting him
Bane actually is very intelligent, enough to challenge Batman. However, his fatal flaw (in the comics at least) is his addiction to Venom. The more he uses it, the more of a big dumb brute he becomes. Thats usually when Batman beats him by outsmarting him.
@@thealgorithmluvsu3788 ik this I'm talking about his adaptations onto the big screen
I was one of the few people who never had a problem with his voice, but yes, I never liked how quickly and easy he was killed off, especially given then length of the film.
I am the league of shadows 😁😁 love this video and thank you so much for slamming the voice!! I've honestly not heard anyone else comment on it...and I honestly burst out laughing in the cinema when I heard it 😂
It's a bad sign when Bane's voice makes me crack up when he's breaking Batman's back. It's like listening to a maniacal Prof. Zoidberg on steroids 🤣
I think bane is underrated as a movie villain. He super quotable. I like Tom hardy performance & the voice
He's a more articulate and fashionable version of 1997's Bane. Even 15 years after the film WB still had no idea how to adapt this character to film.
The problem with DKR's Bane is that he doesn't use Venom, his voice pitch makes him sound like a 60s Bond villain like Goldfinger, he's 2nd in command to Talia when he should be 2nd to no one, and his death sucked
I just got done watching the Joker one and was saying hope he does a bane vid and came to the channel and here it was haha
Lmao I love banes voice, because its so funny, and easily poked fun at, but it doesnt take away from it, to me it was a creative choice that i could appreciate and even enjoy.
I honestly love Bane's voice. It's admittedly strange, but I think that's part of what makes it somewhat menacing and unsettling. It's a strange mix of old-timey tough guy with a certain musical, almost feminine cadence at times. It flows from charismatic to creepy seamlessly in my opinion.
He sounds like the worst impressions of Morgan Freeman spoken through an NYTSA subway loudspeaker
Bane's voice always reminds me of Gary Oldman in Hannibal.
The LuchaMask would have worked perfectly fine for the Dark Knight movies.
I lowkey love his voice lmao
Well we know he's all about that darkness life.
I really liked the voice of bane. for me it was fun. kind of a guilty plesure
I'm so glad they didn't do the venom or the wrestling mask.
What I keep hearing is,
"How come you made this movie instead of the movie I wanted?"
You're expecting what you want, instead of what an artist can give you.
That shouldn't be an alternative.
This wasn't a mistake, this was meant to be a grounded take on the entire pantheon.
Bane's such a badass, but he needs a mask that feeds him constant painkillers??? WTF NOLAN!!!
I freaking love his voice and delivery. You'd be hard pressed to get any more iconic than that.
One of my issues I have with this trilogy is Rā's al Ghūl not being Arabic as he is described in the comics. Also, the name Rā's al Ghūl is Arabic for "The Demon's Head". The Arabic pronunciation for the first syllable is "Rah-us". The character's creator however chose to use the Hebrew pronunciation "Raysh" which is the one I was most familiar with from watching Batman the animated series growing up and I wish that's the one they had gone with. Also while I thought Tom Hardy's performance was very intimidating as Bane, I still would have preferred if they had cast an actor that represented Bane's Caribbean heritage.
Honestly, Liam getting this role right off the back of being a jedi with a top knott and a Chinese name was hilarious. It's no different that 80% of Sean Connerys roles... Or his to be fair.
Who would they have getten to be Bane though? That year in Hollywood its Ben Kinsley, the Rock or Batista, AGAIN. None of them have the men ace of Hardy.
Funny how this is bad but the current GoT/LOTR stuff makes you a racist to disagree with.
@@deathcrunch9020 I've never seen Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rngs so I have no idea what you were talking about. I'm a little confused if you think I said something that was offensive or not. If I did please know that I had no intention of coming off that way.
@@The_Phantasm Nah nah, people are complaining this character or that aren't white in a lot of stuff these days and that makes this racist. Even though the actors are awful, do an awful proforma ect.

When you said Red Herring i was thinking of Fred from A Puppy Named Scooby Doo, i look at the screen and he was right there.
the volume levels are all over the place on this upload.
I really enjoy this Bane voice. Not only is it in line with the sort of League of Shadows training that Bruce Wayne got (transcending being a man and becoming a symbol), it also reminds me of these eccentric, totalitarian leaders who create this cult of personality around themselves to represent their idea or myth.
Look at a Benito Mussolini speech, the guy talks, moves and makes the faces of a total weirdo. But he did it so confidently that people respected the confidence. Projecting a strong personality and OWNING it confidently, especially when you're in a position of power, demands the respect of your subordinates and throws your opponents off-guard.
Imagine sitting in that football stadium, seeing a guy looking like that walking into the field, and then announcing that voice with that voice. You would have no idea what's going on and that's the point.
People don't just parody what's silly, they parody what makes a big impression on a big number of people. That what people know. I don't think the countless of parodies necessarily say what you claim they say.
You don't have to like the sound of it, or even agree with the direction or concept. But it as a creative idea makes _perfect sense_ considering who this Bane is.
I think a further implication is the mask affects his voice. That one little line we get before his injuries, he sounds nothing like what he does now.
The voice introduced mystery.
I could never take this Bane seriously. Him explaining the plot with the bomb sounded like a camp councillor explaining a fun game.
hed be so much cooler if he just didnt have the goofy bomb
hed be based
R.I.P. Kevin "Cameo" Conroyalty
we could always headcanon that bane and talia had similar goals and were working together towards different goals lol
If Talia wasn’t in this movie it would be 10 times better.
My beef lies more with the lack of venom (not always necessary but would have been nice at some point) and the fact that he destroys Batman in the first fight but Batman can suddenly go toe to toe with him in round two.
Definitely much better than the cartoonish version in Batman & Robin.
Bane has the best memes of the trilogy
Great Pup Named Scooby Doo reference
To be fair, Bane being killed by Catwoman was a shout-out to something from the comics, Bane is the one villain Batman has NEVER beaten personally. In comics, it was Azrael who beat him. In TDKR, Batman woulda beaten Bane had Talia not intervened so Catwoman gets the win and Batman never defeats Bane. And yes, Bane being relegated at the end to being Talia's muscle instead of being the Big Bad mastermind he was marketed as really did Bane dirty.
On opening night, i waited the entire time for Bane to reveal Venom tubes and grow to 8 feet tall
I wouldn't have had a problem with Bane's voice if it weren't so muffled that I had trouble understanding what he said a lot of the time. Plus, even when I could understand him, the muffled sound often sounded awkward and made him sound somewhat silly.
If the muffling of his voice weren't there, the voice was decent, with an really interesting and menacing accent and sound to it.
I love doing the Bane voice. It's fun and boisterous. I actually can tolerate it more than the "Bat-voice." The weirdness of it somehow works, but it does remind me of the famous Seinfeld episode with the "Helloooo" voice, La la la.
As a Bane fan I've been waiting for this
I AM THE LEAGUE OF SHADOOOWS!
Id love to see a video essay on The Dark Knight's Robin execution.
well, when it comes to the voice. Bane is from the shadows and the story they present he doesn't get much social interaction so it makes sense his talking is weird.
I thought Bane was pretty solid for the most part
I was doing a Sean Connery impression once and realized I could just cover my mouth and it became bane. This was years ago, right out of high school.
He sounded like Sean Connery trying to do an imitation of Sean connery

Dude, me too! I watched this video recently and after hearing his death, I immediately went to Vee’s channel and checked the recent comments of his recent video.
You kiddin? I loved that voice.
I think the funny odd voice helped make Hardy's portrayal more quotable. Can't imagine people quoting him at all otherwise. This idiosyncrasy made the character seem more enigmatic and interesting in a way. It's not an animation where the big scary guy sounds exactly how you'd expect him to sound.
The vocals in the theater were completely unrecognizable in the theater. I believe they redubbed this. I couldn't make out anything he said.
I thought it was kinda funny you brought up the coat, I wanted a shearling almost specifically because of Bane lol. But I like Tom Hardy as Bane, the voice wasn't as obnoxious to me.
REST IN PEACE CONROY
Pick apart Ra’s, Talia, and Scarecrow. A character who’s supposed to be immortal reduced to an idea. Talia only being Talia in the last few minutes of the movie and Scarecrow being reduced to a background villain in all the movies.
