I know a bit of a contradiction eh. I have no patience to wait for stuff to be done if im not activly doing something to make things move faster, if that makes sense.
@@SolarfallBaits makes a ton of sense. I spent hours and hours untangling braid I improperly put away last night, but can't sit still and wait for paint to dry on my baits, the heat gun always comes out and usually makes some bubbles haha

Top work as always amego, I too have found the heavy metal painting trick. Great work Solar!! Never stop what you're doing! Why don't use Silikone for the tail or a softer version from what you already used, like the shore 45D type? And can you even tell, what are the exact dimensions of the screweyes on the joints?
Very nice !!! How good and durable is your spray can clear coat compare to an epoxy one? I'm really interested to try because it can save a lot of time for those who are impatient like you an me^^!
Really enjoy your videos Solar! So much so that I am going to try carving some baits myself. In this video I see you going from sketch to pattern to making molds and casting baits. Did you test the design (shape, weight and balance) before making the maple pattern? Seems like a lot of time, effort and money to risk without testing that it swims right first.
Hello your videos are awesome and super educational for me in this time where I am making a swimbait with al the fine details, my friend asked me to make a 20 cm glide bait for him. I decided to make a realistic carp glide bait with carved scales and gills , I made a mold of the glide bait so it will be a resin bait, do you have any recommendations in how to determine the price such baits?
It's really hard to say but I guess what I would do is charge what you deem your time and skills to be worth. Maybe look around what others are charging to get a better picture about the market value of such a product
Hi Mikko, that clear coat you used on these have you experienced any issues with it at all as I used something similar in the past and it would react to soft plastic lures and sort of melt off a bit. It could’ve just been that specific spray, amazing stuff as usual 😊
I also tried plastisol for some tail trial runs on my swimbait w/ the same experience as you mentioned (not so durable even using a hard one). What is used wall thickness w/ this rubber as a tail that you showed over here - as a more reliable solution? Thanks ;)
@@SolarfallBaits OK, well on my blanks I've made so far had 7.3 grams 😬, I have been struggling with the wait of the swimbait, but thank you I will try 2.5grams.
@@colossalbasscustombaits5963 its one of those things you just have to experiment with to get the right amount dialed down to your specific lure. That's part of the fun or frustration of lure making
For the eyes to be aligned, in smaller lures, I use a pincer with the ends bent to the inside, they must be perfectly aligned and make the same trajectory when you open or close the pincer Then I hold the pincer lightly closed and double check if the horizontal and vertical angles are aligned Then I close the pincer firmly and mark the center spot for each eye
Because I'm making a three-segment lipless swimbait at the moment, I went back and watched this video a second time. Mikko, did I miss something, or did you not add any weight along the bottom edge of this carp? Best, Chris
Crossing the Atlantic didn't diminish your technical skills thankfully, but you you are a lot more messy, no hoover near the sander? BTW its not only your carving thats satisfying to watch the whole vids are and I dont make lures! Never heard of David Bull so checked his 'Great Wave' vids out, all that work binned due to duff wood?? Thats a wicked tool he uses, like a dagger.
Really nice bait but i dont agree with the wound design, should be natural like a U shaped pike bite or something like that, looks like a grizzly bear clawed that Crusian Carp
Who knows maybe it was mauled by a grizzly or perhaps freddy krueger took a swipe at it. What ever the case may be I just wanted to paint something different for this video.
I love your work I also carve baits But mine are not art work like yours I do more simple designs With both Life Like paint jobs and Bright and Bold paint jobs As right now I am doing some 2 1/2" shallow running shad type bodies But most will be Chartruse over white or Fire Tiger Not art work , but lures that are used for Large and Small Mouth bass
I assume you mean how i connect the segments together, cos i do show how the joints are cut . i use a simple a screw eye to screw eye connection. You just drill bunch of holes and glue them in. And boom your welcome
I loughed really hard, when the guy who carves one billion scales on a trout swimbait, calls himself "impatient". Glad to see new videos from you!!!!

Get one of those small shop vacs. I bought one and dont think i could live without one now.
Glad to have you back sensei!
Beautiful work man . I'm heading over to ebay right now.
Great looking baits skillfully made!
Killer detail!! I don’t have the patience for working with Maple on a lure build!!
Great to have you back 🤙
Good to see you back!
Glad you're back
Amazing work as usually!. How do you calculate the needed weight of lead you are using in your lure?
By prototyping what works the best is the easiest for me. as I'm not very good at math unfortunately.

As always. Beautiful baits.
Awesome video as always. Do you have some kind of ventilation system? I don't want to use 2k because the stuff is pretty toxic.
Yeah its pretty nasty smelling stuff. I do it in the garage with the garage door open, and i wear a mask too just to be on the safe side.
@@SolarfallBaits Ok. I was wondering. Thanks for the reply!
Very good perfect, thanks for teaching Luiz antonio Brazil

Ever used a Japanese pull saw? I love them for cutting joints in baits - thin and sharp.
I have used them before but i dont use them, the hanle is kinda awkward for my hand, but they are wonderful tools.
Stunning work ...what's the finished weight of these baits?
Floaters are 185g and sinking ones 190g
Its just insane how detailed. Keep it up

That carp swims really well.
How much micro balloons would you add to 91.5 grams total of Smooth cast 300 liquid plastic for glide baits?
I usually go with 5 to 10% so maybe I would add 2.5g of micro balloons

Therecis weight inside the lure i just decided to keep that as a secret
Which airbrush do you use?
Iwata highline with a 0.18mm needle.
