That's why opinions are great. I've got Nordstrand Big Singles in 3 of my Spectors (and a Reverse NP5 & DC upcoming for the fourth. to make it a "American Deluxe Spector Precision) & NOT only were the pickups not "too much" at all but they guys were able to make them custom twice over (in EMG-sized shells firstly, custom-wound to my specs secondly). Plus calling the shop to spend 30 minutes picking the Owner's brain is something you certainly *cannot* do at EMG or any of the "Big Companies".
That Warmoth will open up in time and sound complete when the belated Norstrand co. comes through! Then all those knobs will have something to do. That project came together nice though as well.
I have the same bass with a Walnut top over Mahogany JJ setup and an unknown preamp. It was an Ebay find. What a bass! Piano like sustain. I think its much better than the Early model Spector (brooklyn) bass I had lost. I have the same set of Elixers on it from years ago. I cant believe that you (DAVE) cant get used to that string width. It's a big neck, or at least mine is. Hey you can buy the 4 string model.
Was thinking today that I'd like to build a blank ash body and paint it Atomic Orange metallic. Probably get the Gecko5 neck for it and maybe AMG pickups. Still a day dream though.
It looks like it has the same features but has some aesthetic changes. The holes for the neck joint aren't staggered, the fretboard is floating above the body instead of going into it, and there's no gecko mark on the fretboard. Maaaybe it's a G5?...
How much did you spend on that Pickup? "Too much" lol... jokes... Once my final recital is done I'm gunna look into getting a nice DI so I can start recording some stuff and post online...
@davey4557 the style of this guitar is similar to one of wooten's same body and color , if you look at the Fodera Monarch (one of wootens instruments) it looks close to this :)
Oh NO!!!! whats that rumbling Bassie sound in the distance.....its its its.............WAAAAAR MOTH!!!!!!!! What a gorgeous bass!
Sounds crispy.

Mothra will save us!
Oh man that's so damn beautiful! I've been wanting a Gecko!
"Piece of black tape and nobody'll know." HA! Love it. Dang that's three knobs too many, cool as they are.
yeah, another vote for Warmoth here. Damn that Bass is tasty.
I love Warmoth. I order an SG body, and it was perfect, except for a little bit of finish build up, which was no big deal.
6:43 is Sex in a Pan by Bela Fleck and the Flecktones if anybody is wondering. that bass looks great, the wood grains are pretty amazing

Can I get a list of the hardware used on that baby? They look amazing on it, tuners, bridge, knobs etc.

What is the bridge spacing on the saddles?

I like Bartolini, EMG and ESP. I don't like Nordstrand because they have too much gain and not enough character.
hey dave what can you say about yamaha basses? i want to buy one - im a guitarist so i dont know shit about bass brands....
dude's a Jeff Berlin fan. cool by me
How did you get them to drill 5 control knobs?
Yea but that was preety awsome when he strted to play tears in heaven on it....sounded like and acoustic.
