Shinto Muso Ryu Jojutsu or Shindo Muso Ryu Jojutsu has been founded by Muso Gonnosuke Katsuyoshi at the beginning of the 17th century, as a technique to defeat swordsmen with a staff. It is based on Tsuki (thrust), Harai (sweep) and Uchi (hit), using both sides of the staff equally. The movements are carried on continuously and should adapt to the opponent's movements and attacks as if the Jo was a part of the practitioner’s own body.
That demonstration was lead by Arai Hiroshi, 8-Dan Hanshi, and his students. Being a former police instructor, he represents the "Keishicho" style of Jodo (also called the "Tokyo" style). The series of techniques demonstrated here is from the "Kage" set.
