- Here's an unboxing and setup video for the Woodmaster 3875 drum sander that is available from www.woodmaster....
A drum sander adds a ton of efficiency and quality to a woodworking operation. Check out this video on the Woodmaster 3875 38" drum sander with a 5 HP motor. The Woodmaster 3875 is an American made power tool at an affordable price which makes it a unique find in the woodworking tool market.
Wish I lived closer to you ... I could haul my projects over to your shop and use this honey of a sander!
Hi Gerald, stack up the projects for a while and bring a batch of them out!
Nice video and explanation of the sander. I keep coming back to looking at the Woodmaster and then I read forums where professional wood shops say "don't waste your money on a drum sander...go wide belt!" I am a small start-up company that will be doing various things (CNC signs, cabinets, some lathe stuff, whiskey barrel furniture, etc.) and don't want to waste money on a wrong purchase but, man, the wide belts are expensive. I saw on one of our neighborhood forums that there is a family-owned wood mill only 4 miles from our house that processes wood you bring in as well as procuring their own sources for slabs, woodturning blanks, etc. and I noticed in one of their photos, they have a Woodmaster which brought me back to UA-cam looking at them again. My son and I are going to make a trip to the mill to see what they have to offer and to also pick his brain on the Woodmaster.
Sounds great Larry. Best of luck with your decision. Cheers
Nice video. Nice machine and awesome to hear that it's made in the U.S.A. look forward to seeing it in use in future projects !!!
Thanks David! Yep, American made tools are indeed a great rare find. Cheers sir.
Nice. I love my drum sander. Nit used all the time but is invaluable when needed!
Thanks, Mark. Yep, incredible tool when needed.
Looks like a really nice drum sander. I wonder how it will handle a warped piece of wood in order to flatten it out on both sides? My Jet sander has an extended infeed & outfeed tray. So, it's very easy to use wedges to level one surface and run the piece through the sander. Then just turn the piece over and sand the other side flat. Anyway, good luck with the new sander! 👍👍
Hi Steve, yep, that's exactly how it would work. I'd use a sled to support the warped piece and slip wedges under to support as you suggest. I've done this on a planer and it worked out well.
What an awesome machine. I mostly use my drum sander for finishing band sawn veneer. I'm interested to know how thin it will sand. I can get well below 1/16" with my Jet sander and wonder how the Woodmaster compares with that.
Hi Charlie, great question, and I agree that bandsawn veneer is a great application. Wow, 1/16", that seems pretty extreme. I'll definitely give that a try!
@@ToolMetrix I can go even thinner that 1/16". Probably close to 1/32"
Yowsa! That’s a fine line between sanding the veneer and sanding the conveyor.
I bought a used 3875 it doesn't have the velcro on it, and there is no manual. Do you know the angles of the velcro and the sandpaper
No I don't, but I found this manual that you can buy for $10 if you want: woodmastertools.com/shop/accessories/drum-sander-parts-accessories/2675-3875-5075-drum-sander-manual/?doing_wp_cron=1676049083.6217169761657714843750
Alternatively, you might try calling woodmaster. I've had great luck contacting their customer service team.
Thanks for the information I really appreciate it
Nice machine you have there Paul! I have one just like it but mine has the 2 sanding drums! I was using a 24” but this 38” sure is nice! Thanks for sharing!
The 2 drum concept is so cool. I’m guessing that you almost never have to change grits, just replace sandpaper as it wears out. Do you love it?
@@ToolMetrix I sure do like it Paul! You’re right about the sand paper… just put new on and keep going! 😀
Nice!
Nice Toy...er tool. wouldn't fit in my shop.LOL!
Easy solution, Doc; time for a bigger shop!!! :)
I guess this will get a review about the same time as the Laguna dust extractor? Both are all so sweet WOW!
Hi Gary, yep this is a nice sander. The only other video that I did for it is this one: Drum Sander Tips: Woodmaster
