I rode all over the USA on my Honda CX500 Deluxe. I took a temp job on a British ship. My lady friend in London found me a nice 1954 Royal Enfield 350 in a rigid frame. The original owner saved 20 pounds for getting the old style frame. I rode the bike all over England, took the ferry bikes were free in those days. Went to the big cemetery at Normandy. Sobering sight crosses as far as you can see. Went to W Germany and saw my great aunt. Went down to the boot of Italy. Took the ferry to Malta visiting my family there. Took the ferry to Tunis and visited my grandmothers family. Went to Iraq. With a Jewish sounding name l made sure people saw me in church. So they knew l wasn't Jewish. You give all the kids aride on the bike and You're in good. Went to Syria, camped out in Palmera. A 2,000 years old city. Went to Africa and almost got eaten by a lion 🦁 Won't go into all details but it was my big trip.

Think about adopting the "SLP" method: S=simple....single cylinder lightweight bike, around 400 to 600cc. L= lightweight, keep weight down. P= plan, aim to be self sufficient, think about scenarios when/where something goes wrong, how to you get yourself out of it....all this sounds obvious, but it's worth keeping these features always in mind. Make the journey about you and the people you meet.

do it for yourself, don't count on youtube. Later, as you said, it will be more difficult. And just avoid countries which you don't want to visit. Don't overthink it. Doing the trip on interceptor on the other hand will give you some edge. That is definitely more interesting than on dedicated bike

I have been following your channel for a while now and I always look out for the Sunday upload.
Here are my thoughts on the matter:
First of all you look and behave way more maturely than a classic 23 y/o which is a great point in your favor.
A round the world trip like this takes meticolous planning both in terms of routes, economics and logistics so you need to be mature enough to prepare yourself months in advance and account for mistakes / unforseen circumstances.
I also understand that a trip like this is a very big committment both for your future and for your personal relationships but, as you said, the biggest point that working against you is the world changing.
Personally I would love to see a trip like this on the channel as I am committed, both in terms of family and work, and I live these experiences vicariously thru the videos ( it's why most travel channels succeed ).
What I think you should do is build a solid foundation moving in 3 directions:
    1. Economics, 2.Skills and 3. UA-cam/ platforms growth.
The way forward in my opinion is quite self explanatiory:
Continue working on the XJ600 gathering skills and tools you might need whilst on an adventure, continue making videos working on the XJ600 to build more of a solid YT foundation ( I would set the target at 50k subs ) and an avg of 25k views per video ( this means you have a solid audience and solid retention ).
Keep saving up money to build an economic cushion in case you find yourself stuck in the middle of nowhere.
In the meantime you can keep expanding your channel with bike reviews, tips for riders, gear reviews, videos where you go online and look at cheap bikes pointing out flaws or what to look out for etc but most importantly I still believe that your "winning formula" is the genuinity of the videos where you use a cheap bike to tour Europe ( so you should keep doing more of that ).
There are plenty of places to explore like the Netherlands, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary ( not to mention the Balkans )
When the time comes for you to embark on this world trip you will have gathered enough confidence and skills on the XJ600 that you will feel confident taking it everywhere ( I understand it has a sentimental value for you but it actually is what launched your channel in the first place ) aswell as enough planning for the months ahead and economic support.
Hopefully this comment clears up your mind a bit :D Great video as always.

A very underrated motorcycle is the Suzuki DL650 V-Strom that’s comfortable, injected and financially within grasp on the secondhand market.
You have the best connections and experienced owners for that particular bike (it was staring in your face a couple of weeks ago!) and I can imagine getting one prepared over the space of maybe a year or two for a tour round our planet.

With regard to your age window at 23 being good for a world tour, Ted Simon did it at 43. Many people thought at 43 he was too old for such an adventure. How wrong they were, as his book Jupiter's travels shows. He repeated the journey aged 69 and wrote about it in his book Dreaming of Jupiter. Yes, the world has changed and will keep changing and plans and routes have to change. Best of luck, have courage and just be you.

At the end of the day if you do a world tour, you get to tell people you did a world tour. You wouldn't just be the 28 year old in uni. You'd be the 28 year old in uni who gets to say "I rode a motorcycle across the world."
You said you are reaching the limits with what you can do in Europe but that's really not true either. You stopped going East at Italy which ignores all of East Europe. I don't think I've seen you go North at all either. Still plenty to explore, just avoid the countries that border Russia for now. Because, reasons.

If you're going for a true world tour you could always go West but you'd need a plan for how to deal with the Atlantic. If you do end up Stateside and near my neck of the woods, I'll buy you a beer.
But I wouldn't blame you for ignoring the Western hemisphere just due to costs.

Listen to what your inner voice says. Do not listen to other people, they all have an opinion. But it is you that is traveling. Have faith in yourself and trust that things will come to work as you plan. Go for the Himalayan, don't take chances on an old bike. Creates only stress.

I think it's good that you're committed to the climate. When I was your age, I did that too. Back then, however, it was acid rain and the experts painted the future of the forests in the darkest of colors. Lucky for us, it wasn't so bad after all. 15 years later, it was the hole in the ozone layer. For the 21st century, scientists predicted that humanity would be on the brink of extinction. The hole in the ozone layer would let through so much dangerous UV radiation that the earth would be burned. And again, we did what we could to prevent the hole in the ozone layer from getting any bigger. Lucky again. The skin cancer rate has remained fairly stable and the oceans have not been sterilized by UV radiation. So every generation has its cross to bear. Today, it's the climate. The predictions of the experts and politicians are an order of magnitude worse. So we are once again making an effort to counteract the catastrophe. :))

Ask yourself whether you would rather experience the adventure of a lifetime with your trusted loved one or with a complete stranger.... 🤔 UA-cam is full of adventurers who travel around the world with Himalayans, Transalps or similar trails, but how many UA-camrs are there who do this incredible journey with a beautiful red old Japanese motorbike of 500 euro????? 😉😂 Some preparatory work, some love, a thorough check up and I am sure that faithful beast will take you to the other part of the world and back 😉. I'm sure this type of engine can be made cheaply anywhere in the world in case of problems 😉👌👍 having said that, just follow your heart, remember, it's not about the bike or the gear but about the spirit 😉 🤙

A 411 Himalayan would be a great choice. I have enjoyed BS4 Himi for the past 4 years. After some minor niggles were worked out it has been a reliable and fun bike. I'll never part with it. If you were to cross countries on one you would probably become emotionally connected with it too. I also have a Honda cb125f. For many reasons that would be a good choice too. Cheap, light, can be fixed anywhere. Economic. But the Himalayan is all those things to. Just less so. But it would be much more fun.
    Thanks for another fun video.

I would suggest a BMW F650GS or similar model. That's what they're built for and would suit your height. Parts available world-wide.
I've looked at similar adventures and transporting your own motorcycle is not cheap. In fact, it has increased almost 50% in the last two years. The other issue is carnet-de-passage in some countries, where you only have a limited time to travel. That makes leaving the bike in some countries for extended times difficult.
An alternative is that in some countries, you can own a motorcycle registered there as a foreign national. You may also have followers who will lend you a spare motorcycle while in their country. A lot of people have more than one motorcycle in their garage not being used most of the time.
We want to tour more in Europe (Spain, UK, Netherlands, Norway), but can only do it for two or three weeks at a time. Too expensive to continually rent, so the only viable option is to buy bikes. As Australians and not living in the EU, we can buy motorcycles in the UK as a foreign national. That is something I'm looking at.
I don't think the weather is really any different than it has been for what I remember of the past 50 years, but it gets recorded and reported more!
I don't even give it a thought as a barrier to travel in the future.

I think choice of bike or choice of country you are going to ride to, doesn't even matter that much to people. If they see someone with passion for motorcycling and traveling, and doing the things he want. You will attract the right audience.
Dont get me wrong, but at this point (especially because when you do a tour you always speak about youtube money and stuff) i dont hear a lot of passion, and i know you have a big passion for bikes and traveling. So dont focus only on making money of youtube. Show your passion, like with the surf tour!❤ its easy and fun to watch.

Get a used iron horse with liquid cooling and fuel injection if you plan around the world, so you don't suffer at high altitudes and have a chance to not die on you. Lots of cheap good bikes from the 90's and 2000's out there who will last a couple thousand km's more, and with good supply of parts on most countries. You don't need the perfect bike, you just need a good bike so you can also enjoy the journey without spending all your time fixing the iron horse. Hope you decide to do one, cheers!!

If I would be planning or going on a world trip, I would never admit to myself that it's a world trip. I'd say I go to Poland, then Germany, then France, UK, then if I'm still up to it, maybe Spain, Portugal and then according to psychological or physical condition, maybe crossing Gibraltar etc. What I mean is, there is no need to scare oneself with the overwhelming idea of WORLD tour. World tour is just a longer trip from Munich to Barcelona, only lot of times in a row, sometimes on not so good roads. Also if you think about it as a continuous travel to different countries, you have nothing to fail. Stating to oneself and public as it definitely being world tour, there's a big chance not making it, sht happens.

I would go, but finish University first, save money, change motorcycle for something like XT660R,KLR650 with FI, also learn how to repair a motorcycle by your own. Without money after second big problem, you will comeback to your home. Do you are prepare if you lose your bike and all equpiment ?, sometimes you need wait one week for parts and do you have money for food and shelter? Prepare your body, take off road training. This is not 2 weeks holiday on motorcycle in rich Europe countrys. ps. Itchy had money, she sold apartment in Nederland. She was prepared.

during your video, you kept talking about the cost of the bike, etc. But what about the cost of trip? Even if you do it really on the budget it will cost more than the bike. Multiple times more than the bike. And yes, you can come back and make money. But how it would look like? 2 months travel, 4 months work? Don't get me wrong. You should do it. I'm just wondering about logistics.
I myself going to do Europe tour in the next two years, doing 3 months riding, then 3 months break. And also will keep bike at some places and fly out, and be back later. No need to pay so much just to bring back bike to the same country, and then leave from the same country each time (fuel, tyres, wear on the bike, service is very expensive if you do extra few thousands kilometers for nothing).

Still trying to figure that out, but yes going back to work kind of sucks, I hope that maybe the UA-cam channel does well enough at some point but until then I will have to do it like that. I will have to try to keep costs down witch is something that will be hard as I also need to produce the videos

P.S. I think your channel (your personality, how you approach problems, what trips you do) differentiates enough from others, that means you should be able to make it. But UA-cam is very busy with a lot of content at the moment, so one never knows.

And the 100 grade fuel has only 5 percent ethanol, so it’s better for winter storage periods. Unless you have access to unmixed petrol (race fuel maybe), 100 is a better choice (compared to 95).
Ethanol is a problem, because it’s hygroscopic: it extracts water from air humidity.
Then this water renders your fuel system inoperable.

I've been here for sometime, probably from the time of your xj600s review video (i was thinking on buying one) and stayed for the appeal of doing trips on an old bike and the problems of doing it. It's a unique approach to motobloging that many don't take advantage .
That beeing said If i were to go on a WT, having limited money i would go for a 411 ( for the same reasons you mentioned, it's the logical thing to do for limited cash), but channel wise i dont think it's the better solution you have.
For channel growth you need to differentiate yourself and the 411 has the Itch boots curse ( you will always be compered with her). The best way from my POV is, you either get the new shinny toy and get a lot of attention form new potential buyers or use the wrong toll for the job and show the struggles of choosing it.
In conclusion, from my point of view your best choice would be to do with the Interceptor what you did with the Xj in Iceland, put some offroad tires on it some engine protections and go without a destination.
I wish you the best and hope that regardless of your path you find what you're looking for and have some fun doing it, in the end of it we're all going but to the mud

    Don't.
UA-cam is loaded with video's from folks all doing the same thing like hiking, biking, riding, driving, exploring the world.
You need a load of money in the first place and millions of UA-cam subscribers to sustain your World Travel.
Why bother with all of that; what seems to me a healing alternative is to hop on a flight to India, hire a Himalayan and ride around the place as long as your money lasts; that will stop the voice in your brain from telling you to be a world travelling adventurer.

Well said! UA-cam is a brutal way to make a living. You have to build a mob of subscribers and commenters, many who you will never satisfy. Keep a low-key channel and get on with your own life. "Fly and Hire" is a great idea. Do it with a friend or significant other. Enjoy the world on your own terms and become part of it. Happy travels.

At your age, take your foot off the gas on your channel, work 2 jobs to build cash, sell EVERYTHING you don't need and go!
Take a year out and have your adventure. Your channel will EXPLODE on a RTW trip.
Lavi and Oli were at bout 7k when they started (former van lifers) and now up around 50k.
Don't think they are making a handsome living from it though, think they are scraping by, but they started out with savings.
I've bought a new 2022 KTM 390 Adventure for doing a RTW in 2029/2030. It'll cruise at 80mph comfortably, it is FI, it is off road capable, it is smaller/lighter than alot of other bikes for shipping/air freight purposes
    I WILL BE 55!
I can only do it by dipping into my pension pot, and having my house paid off by then.
I am a biker of 40 years, in a ltr of 25 years. My partner understands bikes are my life and is content that I go on this big adventure.
I am expecting to be away for a year.
Get it done lad, whilst you are young and there is nothing stopping you.
Too many ties and uncertainties at my age. You will regret it if you don't

OK, you probably shouldn't listen to this 79-year-old geezer, but I will try my best. No one can tell you what to do except you. The possibilities are endless. All others can do, is suggest what they would do. Take those suggestions and build your own plan. Believe me, at 23 you have plenty of time. Windows are always closing and opening. Go to Uni but don't fear going later. As a more focused, experienced, and mature student with a purpose, you will crush those younger aimless students. I really enjoy and respect the effort it takes to create and sustain a UA-cam Channel, but don't consider it a lifelong career. The material will eventually be exhausted and repetitive. Use it to guide you to future opportunities. Too many people I have followed and enjoyed finally just faded away, hopefully to better endeavors. Also, it doesn't have to be a solo journey. Embrace what life throws at you --- don't rush. Happy travels.

    - Naher Osten (Libanon, Iran, Irak , Saudiarabien etc.)

World trip is nice, but it always needs resources, fitness, basic technical knowledge for a bush repair, financial etc. Your Yamahas are basically unbearable....rubber gets old... mechanical topics don't. Invest your time in quality parts for the carburetor, replace the fuel pump with an electric one. Then you gained enough knowledge and confidence how to handle staff. Costs would be roughly 150 Eur only spare parts. Check the brakes and clutch plates. Then you are good to go. The fork seal is also a regular topic. These things only cost time. Little thing but you don't want to deal with them on the road.
If you trust the other engine and clutch more, you can swap parts....you could also go down to the Balkans, a kind of test for the bike and your channel. There are many good and cheap mechanics in that region as well. Chain and sprockets are usually available. You know your bike already. Trust Yamaha and YOUR WORK.

I will now continue to build my tdm 850 in my garage and also do a world tour leaving the bike is genius !! I will start with europe from the netherlands hope to catch a beer with you! And as you mentioned if the bike breaks down or whatever you can always ship it back and bring in a different shiny bike ? When you get more funds and so on. So gradually move up!! Good luck @FreeMilesMC And indeed skipp carbs go for injection, for example I now own 3 carb vechicles all of them have carb issues -_- the only vehicle with injection has more kilometers ridden then the other 3 combined twicefold Without issues !!! Never breaking down ...
