My Dad had a GMC ('65 I think) with one of these. The cylinder bank was 60 degrees, which meant it ran smooth as silk. Three-on-the-tree manual trans, and a real gas guzzler!
@americanmotors3631 curious what gears you're running. I'm also curious if some of these guys who fitted a 4bbl carb on them got any different gas mileage.
Seems like a modern fuel injected version of a large displacement v6, perhaps direct injection and turbocharging could really make an ideal medium duty or heavy duty pickup engine.
Yes I didn't have a UA-cam channel then... So I started my channel with the back story and brought it up to current day.. rather than do a "Flash back" type scenario later on. I went back to the first recordings on every rig and started the story from as far back as I could. Because I've had this truck since 1999.. So I wanted some of its History that I had recorded known...
@@Bull3tBikes I've had since 1999 it was my first truck yes as of today it still exists... My most recent video about this truck is the new starter I just got.. but there is a few videos scatter through out my time line bringing you up to current on it as best as I could. I just didn't want people to think I had bought it a measly 6 months ago, when in fact my story with this truck started over 20 years ago😎
My dad had a 1966 GMC 3/4 ton with a 4 speed and the 351 V-6. Pulled like a train and loved gas!
These are the most under-rated engines. True marvel.
Thanks for watching, I love this engine😎

I think mine gets 7.5mpgs on 91oct fuel...

I've often thought a modern version of these would be a great idea😎
So this video is from 2014 but wasn’t posted until 9 years later?
