2 yrs later and you’re still helping people. I got me an 06 denali grey wood grain dash bezel. So I am finally gonna do it right. Rn I have in in the original radio basket in my 01, with a cut up 03 bezel. Aka mickey moused. But looking for a basket and ac controls rn.
I didn't think of this, I've got the same style of bezel and also didn't want to go with an all black one. Great idea to pull parts from the 03-06 vs. the kits!
Just pulled all the parts I needed for my 2000 Sierra from a wrecked '03 tahoe. I got the radio cage and the rear brace. I messed up, I should have got the a/c controls too. BECAUSE beleive you me, my luck the dash will start creaking and groaning without it probably (4x4) I have seen guys cut it out and throw it away.
I hope Luis changed his barber cuz that hair cut is just killing him. Well done video. I specially like that he shows the physical difference between the two cages. Not bad for a first timer.
The bezel is still too small. You’d have to cut the bezel to have the screen fit correctly or if you leave it the bezel will cover up some of the screen

In his case it looks like you can keep the single din cage because the radio itself fits a single din cage. Just the bezel wouldn’t fit correct. That’s what it looks like at least not too sure if I’m right or wrong on that tho

Ended up doing this and saved some $$ vs. the kit. Found a dark Grey bezel that actually looks very good with the rest of the dash so I'm leaving it.

@erikrodriguez5330 found it in a junkyard just hunting around, got lucky. Not a lot were there or in good shape.

Only downside is that those 03-06 ac controls won't work at all with the 99-02 connectors
