Oprah getting kidnapped was not on my 2023 bingo card.
Bill Cosby was on mine.
Not sure if y'all know it, but Bushido Brown is supposed to be a reference to popular black martial artists Jim Killy from the 70s. He also played in the bruce lee movie Enter the Dragon. That quote, "man, you come straight out of a comic book," is a quote that he says in the movie.
Jim Kelly
Regina King was consistently the voice of Huey and Riley through the entire show’s run. But as with any voice over actor in a longtime role, she made subtle tweaks to both voices, so they sound even more distinct from each other. Starting with the second season, Huey’s voice gets a bit deeper and is more subdued, while Riley’s voice, while slightly deeper, is still a higher pitch with a slight raspy quality.
Regina King played Huey and Riley throughout the run of the show.
Exactly, I’m not sure where Chris got that info from lol 😂
@@nmmboy I dunno, but I remember hearing that somewhere, too
@@IcyDragonPolarisit’s just a lie said by people that don’t understand that Regina can do both of those voices at once/misinterpreting what Aaron said about the search for a Huey voice
@@Haquize It's wild that someone would say that during season 1. Their voices sound much closer to each other here than they do by next season and beyond.
@@nmmboyIn the pilot he was voiced by Alicia Keys but not for the whole season. I think Chris confused the amount of time alicia played Huey. But yes technically he is right. Regina was originally supposed to play on Riley but I guess something came up for Alicia or something cause regina then took over for the rest of the show and they liked it so much they decided to allow her to keep doing it. Which im very glad they did but I also would have loved hearing Alicia voicing Huey
The fight choreography in this show has no right to go as hard as it does but I'm so glad they did.
Did Chris just say Regina King only started voicing Huey from season 2?
That's a stone cold lie bruh😅🤣
Lol exactly im like huh??? ...she just improved voices and had a better contrast between the two by the 2nd season
The confidence they have at just dropping the most wrong info ever will forever make me laugh lol
@manicmcgee1 I mean thts basically everyone on the internet 😂
She said they looked for a Huey voice actor for 2 MONTHS before she asked to also play Huey instead. Idk where Chris got that info from, but he was prob talking about that
@@manicmcgee1it’s so laughable and insufferable
Aww, they laughed over my favorite part. Ed saying he would haunt them is funny, but I always lose it at Rummy just yelling "Swim, bitch!"
I forgot this episode had MF Doom tracks in it, rest in peace to the goat
ALL CAPS when you spell the Man's name bro
@@chittydmbDONT TALK ABOUT MY MOMS YO
I love that scene at the beginning. Reminds me of me and my brother. Yeah, Riley gets worked. He's also always coming back. He's always in Huey's face. He's why Huey's good.
i like to call this episode "the madvillain episode" cause this episode is responsible for putting many people on to madvillain (MADLIB & MF DOOM) and their music (strange ways, raid & ALL CAPS being featured in the robbery scene, maya angelou scene and huey vs bushido brown scene) inspiring a litany of new fans (including me)
Ed Wuncler III and Gin Rummy should of gotten a spin off, there some of the funniest characters in the show
RIP Charlie Murphy
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” - Maya Angelou.
an accurate representation of sibling fights :)
The meta of Huey mocking Riley voice is non-stop goodness...Salute Queen Regina King!!
I love how Bushido Brown is a mix of Afro-Samurai and Williams from "Enter the Dragon".
Mickey is right, this was a take on the war...but they interrupted his thoughtful take for some nonsense talk.
They really shouldn't have the entire group watching this show, they only take away the comedy yet laugh at the wrong things for the wrong reasons. No insight is ever gained, which is a shame for how culturally relevant and thoughtful it is.
@@billbill6094 Exactly!
@@billbill6094 agreed. u need two people max, (who havent watched the show). when its more people try and sneak their own attention seeking jokes in
This episode introduced me to MF DOOM back in the day, I love ALL CAPS!
This is my all-time favorite episode of Season 1 of the Boondock. Man, you guys are fast.
Huey only was outsmarted because they had an ignorant audience, no offense to grandad, but not the best parental figure.
maya "and i rise" angelou
😂😂
regina has always voiced both
The modern day equivalent to Nabing Oprah would be Nabing Taylor Swift.
The Bushido brown episode in the future season goes crazy. I can't wait until you guys watch that one
If I’m not mistaken Regina king actually voiced Huey through all seasons.
I was JUST thinking of this episode and excited for when you guys got to it!
I typed this with my index finger just for him.
Oh god I forgot this is the episode with ALL CAPS and led me to the GOAT himself MF Doom.
7:17 lol. Funny, she just said/did something "controversial" 😂
Cant wait for season 2 thats the best season 🙌
Huey was hilarious in this episode
7:48 I'm sure Patreon corrected him by now but that is false - Regina King voiced both characters from the start
If it wasnt already said Aaron McGruder is a big anime fan with Samurai champloo, afro samurai abd naruto being his top 3. This why you see a lot of references to these in the episodes.
The hype when "All Caps" comes on is next level!
Definitely one of my favorite episodes.
8 people talking throughout the whole episode, just what we wanted
F oprah & that phony donation to Maui 😆
What did you donate?
@@justthejI know him. He donated 16 million dollars.
One of my favorite episodes.
Regina King is both Huey and Riley throughout the series
Huey and Riley is like GTA vs Afro Samurai
But here's the thing we all need to consider...
Is the song saying "Booty butt cheeks" or is it "Move dem butt cheeks" ?
It doesn't matter coz it's a song about butt cheeks 😂
Thugnificent doesn't even care!
You just mad cause your ass is old
I’m so ready for the Red Ball.
Hell yeah thats my favorite episode
Oprah might not be on the airwaves anymore, but she's still a multi-billionaire. She still owns a ton of companies and networks so it's fair to say she still has a lot of influence over women to this day.
Fun fact the song playing is called all caps by MFDOOM
Crazy timing considering all the negative Oprah videos lately
Y’all gotta do Samurai Champloo ❤❤❤❤
Studio Mir animated boondocks they did Korra and the last air bender that’s where the choreography comes from.
So that's why Korra was in the homies over hoes music video 😂
I know someone else said it before but Gin and Rummy are an allegory for Donald rumsfeld and Bush jr.
10:24-10:33 iconic
RIP MF DOOM
The fact mf doom songs r in this show make it sm better for me I ain’t even know it was in this
DOOMSDAY ALL CAPS was perfect for that fight scene
So will Navi and Rana be watching / have they watched "Health Inspector" on their own time? I feel like they might be missing some context if they haven't seen it.
regina is riley and huey for all seasons even season 1
This episode introduced me to MF DOOM's music back in the mid 2000s
While i never thought this episode was a meta commentary on the Iraq war i did think one of the MF DOOM songs (Raid) in this episode had symmetry with the Iraq War
Also this episode is where i got my UA-cam name
Oprah was DEFINITELY the biggest figure on TV throughout her entire run in 80’s, 90’s and 2000s. The only reason she wouldn’t be today is because make hasn’t been on tv in over 10 years.
Nickey those phones don't have touch screen they have keyboards and early smart phones didn't have swipe typing either.
First time we meet the GOAT Bushido Brown
Man RIP Charlie Murphy
Dude who knows the DOOM and Wu-Tang carries
On the list of fav episodes.
yo regina was huey the whole time
I really didn't put together the Iraqi War connection until just this minute. Wow. I'm really dumb.
Great reaction!
DON"T FORGET ALL CAPS WHEN YOU SPELL THE MAN'S NAME
MF DOOM strange ways played during the first hist 😂
Oprah sue to keep her out the episode
Enter the dragon influence is heavy with Bushido Brown.
Chris needs to go ahead and stop taking info from random people. Regina King voiced Huey and Riley throughout the entire show.
NORMIES SHOULD PLAY PAYDAY! 🎉
RIP Maya Angelou.
Oh man y’all gotta do a South Park reaction 😂😂😂
It would be funny as hell seeing y’all react to everybody hates Chris if too many of you ain’t see it already. Especially suraj it look like he love this shit😂
Oprah really is a villain in 2023 now so they were shreds of the time 😂
TBH now that i think of it ..Riley was first before Pub G using the Skillet as armor
Navi is a doll...
rip to mf doom
The references to Snatch going over everyone’s head smh 😔
Huey is the smartest but Riley will outtalk him, Riley out talk Tom in r Kelly episode and . Tom is a good lawyer
He's good at bluffing with confidence and charisma but I wouldn't call him a master debater tbh
@@kaizokuo5850I wouldn’t either. He’s real defensive about his opinions loud and out talks everyone, doesn’t matter if he’s getting his ass beat. Keeps talking , easily the funniest character on the show
Can somebody do the math for me?
When will they get to S3 E3?
The best episode!
You can tell Chris never grew up in the hood watching hear reactions
Y'all really need to watch samurai champloo
5:16
5:26
Guy on the left one of those annoying ppl to watch something they’ve seen with, constantly tryna say the lines before the show does
Samurai champloo reaction when
Imagine if Bushido Brown was real
Chris is wrong. She's always voiced both boys. Come on brother...do your research. Stop with the I hear.
0:32 😂😂😂😂
When you interrupt an actual insightful opinion to talk about actually nothing. I don't think The Boondocks is the show for this group to watch.
MF DOOM on the track on this episode rest in peace MF
"The life of a black hero has never been for the meek of heart ."
-- Huey Freeman
Also, to the guy who asked why his sword was turned backwards, it was specifically so he wouldn't hurt Riley. Despite him saying "You will NOT get outta here alive!" Huey doesn't actually want to kill Riley. He only used the katana to destroy the objects Riley used as weapons and to defend himself. He used the non-cutting edge on purpose, both to taunt Riley with it and to avoid causing him any life-threatening injury.
Huey's a skilled enough fighter to know specifically what to do after all!
I mean if it didn't have the social stigma it had and it would be a general term for an ignorant person which has been replaced by the r-word today ( the one that people commonly thinks refers to someone with a mental disability which it originally did however now generally memes someone who should generally be smart enough not to do or say something extremely stupid yet does so anyway).
Here we go, the start of them seeing that the Bonndocks fights are better than most animes
Amber Rose gets a lot of hate from manosphere subscribing incels, but shes always been a real one. Every interview I've seen her in, she's come across as extremely genuine and bright asF.
Good luck to Latina though.
_If you can save one..._☝🏾
Dude she was them every season She wasn’t post to be originally tho
0:00-1:15-
Regina king is Huey for the whole show…
I think szn 1 is half good eps, half ok episodes, but szn 2 and 3 r my faves bc they have a lot of really consistently great episodes.
Ye def without a doubt boondocks jus too fire
RIP DOOM
Funny 😅
lol
