Definitely just got a new subscriber! This was very easy to understand the way you presented it. I recently purchased the I flight Nazgûl eco and go he gps pre installed. I watched a few videos on this with JB and some other guy and I set all my settings up the way they said, but when I went to testing it I had it set to let me fly without the minimum because I have to plug in a lipo in order to get the gps power so I didn’t want it to sit there and burn up. So I took off and it locked some satellites so I flew out to test it and flipped the switch set to failsafe, it went through the first stage which was shooting up in angle mode then stated gps rescue. When gps rescue initiated it flew up more then turned twords home it started trying to come back but then it was pitching up and down and started going up and down in altitude, but the next time I just tested the gps rescue alone and it went up turned around in angle and then proceeded to start falling out of the sky then sometimes trying to catch itself and sometimes not at all I crashed and went home frustrated, so now I’m thinking I need to set my hover correctly and turn off start without fix. I don’t know if I want to sit there and wait every time I go to fly to get a lock though because I don’t want it to over heat. But if you have any solutions they would be greatly appreciated and I will update after making these changes and testing this. Also I don’t know if it matters but there was a power line kinda close when testing
Firstly, Thanks for your kindness and thanks for watching! I'll tell you.. you for sure want to disable "arming without fix" that is an accident waiting to happen, its not worth the risk of losing a quad.. What I do is just power my FC with a portable usb power bank and let the GPS get sats until I'm ready to fly, then I plug in a lipo.. That way I can acquire sats without heating up the electronics. Also some bobbing on pitch is to be expected during the return flight - don't expect a perfectly smooth and level flight as the fc is always trying to match speed and return angle while fighting turbulence, but it should not be shooting up and or falling quickly as it begins its trip home, this is 100% caused by not setting the hover throttle value correctly and is a very easy fix. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out any time, I'm happy to help!
Same exact experience with Nazgul Eco. Can’t get GPS unless lipo is connected. Had throttle hover set and minimum satellites set, but then it dropped when I tested failsafe
@@Kristiangreen make sure that the Stage 1 failsafe throttle is just slightly less than the “stage 2 hover throttle”. Also, ALWAYS ensure that at least the min number of sats is acquired before arming, if you take off without a set home point or min sats, it will drop. Another thing to check is to make sure you are flying out past the min distance to home for the tests. Inside the min distance to home the quad will drop. If you want your gps to be powered up by usb, just move the power wire from the gps to a 3.3 or 4.5v pad on your fc and you won’t need the lipo plugged in to acquire sats. Let me know if I can help out more.
@@Rogue_FPV One thing I would like to know is this: at an other video of yours for gps resque in a lower BF version, I asked if the stage 1 failsafe matter and if I would have to set it up. You advised not to because we choose stage 2. Although on other guilds, they say that before stage 2, stage 1 kicks in to avoid resque in small signal drops. Is that a thing? One more thing is the GPS resque via aux. What would happen if we lose video signal and there is no switch for manual GPS rescue? Thank you again!!!
@@illuminatorix I don't personally setup the Stage 1, but others do. I have not had any ill effects based on the way I setup GPS Rescue, but you can certainly add the Stage 1 setup from the other party's video if you want that extra layer of safety and sanity checks. Also, if you do not have a manual GPS Rescue Mode / Aux Switch setup, the quad will only auto return home on a RX Failsafe. You will need the GPS Rescue Mode Aux switch to trigger a manual return to home of you lose video at any time.
Thank you so much Rogue, I need this. I'm trying to replace my old M8 GPS with a new M10 GPS for the OG iFlight Chimera 7" with the DJI air unit & hoping that Betaflight 4.5 GPS rescue will actually work like it should.
hey man good video! you have initial climb set at 100m so it will be added to the max altitude you have been. so like if you fly at 100m and GPS rescue will make you climb at 200m ?? did i understand it right ? can you say why go this high because idk if i should do that or keep it at 10m like i have. thanks !
@@anubiss2058 if you use Max Altitude, the drone will add the Initial Climb altitude to your highest altitude flown, and fly back. I fly LR in spots with really tall trees, so climbing 100m assures me that I won’t hit an obstacle coming back. You don’t need to set it that high, use good judgement based on where you are flying. If 30ft above your highest altitude is safe where you are flying, by all means, set the initial climb to 10m. 💪🏻🤘🏻
@@Rogue_FPVthank you for the clarification! I have a problem you might be able to help whit. I have a cinelog 35 v2 O3 tbs M8 and I have updated to BF 4.5 and when conducting flights test the drone like most of the time fail to do the gps rescue action. It seems the altitude readings freeze when I activate failsafe like it climbs but altitude in osd stays at what I was flying at. The drone then climbs indefinitely. Anny trouble shouting list I can follow? I have tried reflashing and verified settings which I don’t think is the problem but I’m no expert. I fly close to an airport so maybe interference?? Thanks
@@anubiss2058 are you using auto baud or setting baud rate manually? Also what is your current baud rate? Are you getting any sensor lost warnings when the alt freezes? @@Rogue_FPVI have tried the 57600 (auto gave me that) and after your video I have seen that my gps recommend 115200 so I have tried that also but same problem. When i read the technical specs for that GPS unit, I see it's rated working voltage is only 3.3v Manufacturer has not designed it for 5v input voltage.
