    Did nearly the same job on a identical 1977 GT150 back in the late 80’s when I was in my mid twenties.. I paid $150.00 for boat and trailer, bought, sold and traded through a couple other boats to get a Evinrude 135 V4 . Had a great time restoring and running that boat on the river near Cincinnati.

      How did the 150 handle the transom force from the 135? Got similar. Did you reinforce the transom? Any stress cracks?

      No issues with stress cracks on the original hull, laminated the new transom from marine ply, fully encapsulated with woven cloth and quality resin,. No extra reinforcement, just carefully done.

    Great video, and a great save on an old boat. Really looks nice and the cost of a new one like that or similar would be near 32k now day if not more. My son and I are working on a 1990 Sea Sprite 175 with a 100hp Mariner 4cyl 2 stroke, were hoping for the best as it is a nice boat that just needs some TLC. Were learning as we go, that alone is fun !! If were lucky and don't spend a lot, at least we can bail out and resell without being on the losing side in money.

    You are one lucky girl! Looks like you have a very cool dad or boyfriend to do that for you. Im so jelly. That's one good looking boat. I bet it's a blast to ride with that tower of power on it. Love these old boats! glad to see it not thrown in the trash like most of these are. Enjoy it, nothing rides like a Glasstron. I had a 77 Carlson best boat I ever owned.

    Good stuff! I just picked up a 1972 Glastron GT140 for fun - and to use as a test bed for a '92 40 HP Merc that I rebuilt just to have something to do! Floor does have a couple of soft spots, so I may wind up doing something similar to this after next boating season.

    Great Video, Great Job. I'm getting ready to do 5 builds at the same time. A project, a new hobby and a new rental business.

    Thanks! Typical repair for this vintage of a boat, especially Glastrons. My thoughts exactly regarding a Jet Ski. Rebuilt for my daughter to run around in and she loves it

    Roy G. Biv, Good luck with the GT-140! Cool little boat. These jobs just take some time and IMO are fun to do.

    While in the garage I cut into the floor and got a nice repair all set up to be completed in late spring when outside work is feasible...now the boat is outside, the car is back in and I am toying with a complete restoration rather than a repair. Am I being silly? We'll see!

      your in for alot of shit my friend. i'm on hydrostream boats.org site under pic's / viper. bro i took my deck off. floor out / grind out old foam./ boat had to put in the right cradle so the bottom stays straight. stringers etc. layed another layer of glass for strength. etc... made a real bildge that works! it never ends. but over a year later i'm like the six million dollar man. remember the theme? lol. but i'm safer / faster and really impressive. but what's it worth to you? i spent 27k. new motor too though. crazy prop etc.. would i do it again? sort of. ha.

    awesome, Did you use expanding foam under the floor?

    • @nickking1510
      @nickking1510 5 років тому +3

      Be careful using the foams in can all contain DI ISIOCYNATE I did my floor in my glastron with a n95 mask and it was out side put 4 big cans under my new floor I drilled 1/2 holes every 10 inches and injected the box store foam . After 1 hour I could hardly breath I got poisoned by the isiocynate , and I was in the know as I worked in auto body all through school and 2 stage catalyzed paints aka 2 k will kill you if not wearing a suit and full face air supplied respirator or if you get over spray in eyes or skin . I recovered after 2 weeks . Now why do a lot of kid have asthma today ,homes are filled with this stuff very nasty , the stuff bioaccumulates and you may be ok then get a severe attack ,it’s in many construction adhesives also .
