    I was 1 of those who judged a book by its cover i thought it would be another generic Good looking guy struggles to fit in with another cool group of dudes while he gets the beautiful girl. But it really was a deep movie that had you thinking. And when you watch the movie and see some of the craziest scenes....like i dont know if they were stunt doubles or not....but jesus. The actors were pushed to the limits. Making me think at one point that the director was going too far. That spit scene i still cant get over it lol but in all seriousness its a great movie if you haven't watched it. What are you willing to do to join the "cool" group. Are you willing to sacrifice your self respect dignity and moral to be socially accepted by your peers or are you willing to be you and say fuck what society thinks. With that being said i need a sequel to this movie the ending was powerful but left unanswered questions.

      jackpot comedy that’s not realistic. The ending was REAL...that’s the point. It ended with NOTHING BEING DONE, no real consequences, therefore underground pledging still goes on to day in Sororities and Fraternities. I guarantee you someone is getting the piss knocked out of them as I type this. SMH. Some underground lines start WAY before the real official line, which opens the door for a longer period of abuse.

      This ending is as realistic as it gets with this type of hazing. While death is not always the outcome it is a reality. More often than not, with this type of hazing someone is left with major physical damage so severe they can't even with their education. They are harmed for life. And it always leaves a person with psychological traua.

When I was seriously injured during pledging, the senior frat brothers were more concerned about getting in trouble than calling an ambulance even though I assured them I wouldn't say anything. Look how quickly "brotherhood" goes out the door. In the end, it was one of the other pledges that snuck a phone call for an ambulance. He got shunned and then quit shortly after.

All I will say is I’ve always thought of sororities and fraternities as nonsense and the people who join them as weak sheep...I still do. They are gangs. Period. I have no use for any of them✌️💞

      No he didn't. How would he join a college fraternity when he didn't go to college... Even better question, if Frederic Douglas died before Alpha Phi Alpha (i'm assuming that's who you mean when you say alpha) was founded how do you figure he crossed? Unless he had a time machine he couldn't have crossed Alpha. Ya know the whole "06" thing isn't just because they think it sounds cool.

      Milan Massey-Haley I'll preface my comment by saying I am a GDI so I know my words won't have much weight to Greeks (though I do intend to pledge a fraternity this year), but the director is part of the D9 and he does have an insiders viewpoint a GDI wouldn't have. I'll give you that some aspects of the process aren't portrayed correctly, but isn't the point raised about underground hazing valid?

    • @milanmassey-haley9846
      @milanmassey-haley9846 7 років тому +4

      LiveforHM I am not going to be little your comment because you are not Greek, but please do not go around claiming that you are going to join a Greek organization because that is not appropriate. I will agree with the director that hazing is still an issue within different organizations, including non D9 organizations, but the issue that I'm having is that the director, on numerous accounts, has not addressed what are the consequences of hazing. In this interview, he states he didn't know what happened to the main character after Frank died, and that is BS. I know why he hasn't addressed it from a Greek standpoint, but I feel like if he is going to try educate about a situation, to not half ass it.

      +Yolande Moore "Rhetoric" here means the art of speaking and writing. It's a compliment Frederick Douglass, who was a talented and intelligent writer. His words continue to resonate today as demonstrated by the film. Would love to understand what you mean by "hot air."? Thanks for sharing!

    • @zetayogi
      @zetayogi 7 років тому +5

      Thanks for your response. Rhetoric does have two meanings but the more common use is negative so much so that Webster Dictionary says the synonym for rhetoric is "hot air". I just felt there could have a more positive and complimentary word could have used. Thanks again for the reply.
