    I've heard all the so-called Skynyrd "insiders" talk about how they knew Leon and that Leon felt that he himself was a "sell-out", other stories about how Skynyrd shouldn't carry on, etc....Well, blah, blah, blah. Comments like "It ain't Ronnie". Well, no shit, how could it be? If Leon truly felt that way, then why the hell did he play? Idiots that say RVZ would be ashamed of this band, that's bullshit. JVZ took this gig with the TOTAL approval of his entire family. And RVZ would approve too!

      It has more to do with the fact that there are more pre-crash Skynyrd members that aren't in the band than are. When this was filmed, Bob Burns, Artemus Pyle and Ed King were around. Ed and Artemus still are. So is Junustrom for that matter.

    Best line up of Skynyrd since after the tribute tours wound up and Ed King quit for the second time. It's damn shame, 4 of the people on that stage are no longer with us and gone too soon.

      Incorrect. Those assholes pushed Ed King and Artimus Pyle out of the band. In the 2000's, there were more pre-crash Skynyrd not in Skynyrd than was in it. MedLocke should take his punk ass back to Blackfoot where it belongs. Medlocke was never pre-crash Skynyrd. Blackfoot was a great band.

    What happened to the last verse?
    On the day old Curtis died
    Nobody came to pray
    Old preacher said some words
    And they chukked him in the clay
    He lived a lifetime, playin' the
    Black man's blues. And on the day he lost his life.... that's all he had to lose.

    man did nobody notice, that skynyrd just brought out a new album called God & Guns?? seems like everybody here talks about them like they don't make music anymore! Fuckin' Lynyrd Skynyrd is still alive!!

    IF they had lost EITHER Steve OR Ronnie, they would still be headliners.. Losing them both was too much.

    damn proud to be related to Hughie..wish I could have met him..my Dad did..thought he was spinning a yarn till I went on Ancestry..makes sense why I never gave up on writing music seeing how its on both sides of the family..those genetecists should try to isolate the rocking gene instead of worrying about skin color, eye color, weight, height..etc

      I would be proud also, Hughie was a legend, great voice, fantastic guitar player, great song writer, there was something very special about "The Outlaw's" especially with him and Billy Jones, everyone calls "Freebird"" the southern rock anthem, for me, it was "Green Grass And High Tides" it's kinda funny that he ended up in what was left of and being called Lynyrd Skynyrd, he made it okay for me being a part of it. He was a great man, a burning guitar player and left behind some of the finest southern rock music there ever was along with his southern brother's he will be forever missed!

    Just think of what Lynyrd Skynyrd would have been like if they would have all lived through the crash! Jsut think of what they could have done with Ronnie and Johnny!! I bet they would have been the best version of this band ever. Imagin what Van Zant could be like with Ronnie and Johnny. Imagine 3 brothers on one stage. imagine .38 specail and Lynyrd Skynyrd together on 1 stage at the same tiem. Or even All 3 bands at 1 time! Rip to all our lost LYNYRD SKYNYRD memebrs From '77 to today.

    They didn't need Johnny to be the best version of the band ever. The band circa 1973 was the best they'd been and the best they'd be.

    P.S. I wore a black arm band in high school the day the plane crash happened, just like all my friends. Does anyone remember that?

    • @rnicholasmartin1335
      @rnicholasmartin1335 3 роки тому

      I met the entire band 3 days before the airplane crash at their final meet and greet in Altamonte Springs Florida the day the street survivors album debuted, and I'll never forget that as long as I live!🎶🎸👍

    I agree stormbringer60kb..have heard/watched several versions since the original...why they insist on not playing the verse that...if anything....gives closer (sp) and the beautiful lament that gives one a pause for thought....bothers me. It is, after all.....probably one of the most important lines in the entire song....

    Looks like Leon, Billy and Gary are in this clip.. after billy and leon passed, they become nothing more than a pro tribute band.. no longer skynyrd..

    • @rnicholasmartin1335
      @rnicholasmartin1335 3 роки тому

      As long as Gary Rossington is healthy enough to play the music that they wrote as a tribute(his words) to those not here any longer, then I will pay to see him, to enjoy the music, and to pay tribute as well.

  • @abbucher3331

    Hughie and Gary were Great, BUT This is just a LS "Tribute" band and NOT the real thing..They couldn't even play the entire "Curtis Lowe" song..Pathetic...

      Ed King co-wrote this Swamp Music with Ronnie. This is a better version with the Tribute band in 1991.
