- I had some fun making this Tri-tip recipe. I had never cranked my Traeger Ironwood 885 up to cook something this fast. I grilled up some delicious tri-tip at a sizzling 500 degrees F. I did it in about an hour, and now you can, too.

Thanks, Heath! I made my best Tri-Tip toinght using a modified versoin of your method. I did not have your special prepared rubs, so I used my own blend. I used fresh Rosemary from our garden with the rub, as you did, but to get the highg temperature, I used my Akorn Kamado instead of my pellet grill. I will be making that Tri-Tip again!
Sounds delicious!
We eat Tri Tip quite a bit. I’ll have to try the high temp. I generally smoke it at 250 until 128 and then sear. I also like a coffee & garlic rub on it!
I've never done it at that high of a temp until this video. It turned out pretty well!
Very awesome Heath!!
Thanks, Jason!
Love it man! Great tip on the cutting!
Appreciate it!
I did tritip from The Butcher Shoppe in Pcola lastnight on my Hunsaker drum. So so so delicious hot and fast.
For sure!
Tri tip for dinner I say yes and the taste and snap at the end did it for me. Thank you sir for another great video 👌🏽
Appreciate it, Mario!
Heath Riles for the win!
🤘
Love what your putting out dude!
Appreciate it!
As always Heath, you are Godly on the grill
Thanks!
Looks awesome as always !! We love your cooking Heath, and your rubs in Madison, Ms. !!!
Thanks, Kevin!
Looks delicious Heath! Tri Tip is one of my go to grilling meats. Look at a WalMart market, they usually have TT roasts cut into steaks about the size and shape of a small NY Strip, and the marbling between the Angus Choice grade and that cut makes it akin to Prime. Unbeatable value.
Awesome! Thanks, Todd!
Beautiful cook Heath. I use a hot and fast method just like this on my Weber Kettle, lid off to sear on both sides then lid on to get to medium rare temperature. I use a combo of your Beef Rub and Garlic Jalapeño Rub, gets rave reviews every time. Thank you for sharing!
Sounds delicious!
Awesome brother, love a tri tip, those rubs of yours are awesome, I found a shop here in Australia that sells em and bro I couldn’t be happier, you have a knack for finding the right flavour combos, that peach rub is phenomenal, the citrus is incredible, thank you mate love the channel
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying the channel and the rubs!
Gotta try this on the GMG ....
Hope you enjoy!
Heath! Just grabbed a few new BBQ goodies for the spring and summer. Your vinegar sauce, Beef Rub, and more Garlic Jalapeño.
Awesome! Hope you enjoy
That looks real good.
Thanks!
I just cooked this recipe with a tri tip from the Butcher Shoppe, amazing. Better than the ribeyes I cooked last weekend!
Love to hear it!
You're awesome dude
You rock!
We cook Tri Tips here all the time using a open flame bbq pit using red oak. Recently bought a smoker GMG to start cooking up other types of meats and I have been doing the low and slo method for a ahwile. I will be cranking up my grill to 550 see how it comes out.
Sounds great!
@@HeathRilesBBQ it came out delicious. Literally cooked for 1 hr and it came out at 155 internal temp.
HHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! Look a dem juices!
Yes sir! No dry tri-tip around here 🤣
I’m going to try this tonight…but I don’t have a top rack in my Traeger. Going to turn the heat down a smidgen. Thanks Heath!
Thanks, Carolyn!
My tri tip turned out amazing!! Making another tonight! Thanks again!!
Love to hear it! Thanks for watching
Thanks Heath, another good meal idea. As a note, I had heard olive oil is a low temp oil and burns easy, as a thought would a high temp oil like peanut oil be better or does the high heat on the olive oil add a distinct flavor to it?? Might be fun to do half and half and see if there is a difference on the next episode!
Not a bad idea!
I am doing a tri tip this weekend on my masterbuilt grvity. Should I try this method or reverse sear?
Try it and see what you think
What is fresh salt you put on at the taste?
Just added a bit of fresh salt over the top to give it a little pop
Amazing recipe for tri tip turned out great used it today for a quick game day meal was absolutely amazing and will cook it again
Glad you liked it!!
