Hi guys and gals just thought I'd let you know I'm thinking about investing in a nice RC truck I'm most likely going with Arma because of your Channel and I do not like the way that Laxus company has been by y'all so I will not endorse their products at all
Great knock-off. Amazon had a version of this selling for $36 on a pre-Christmas flash sale. Incredible performance for that price....can't beat it. Perfect starter RC car for my 9-year old.
I don't worry too much about "clones" Usually they have concessions in terms of quality of components or overall build and if that makes them cheaper they are helping the entry level users. Often, whilst not as capable as "brand name" trucks they are far more capable than their price range would indicate. My measurement isn't the name on it but the amount of smiles it generates _I'm still testing the limits of my 12428 and just when I think I've found those limits I exceed them and the smile level increases_ :)
15:42 Most of the time we find that the cheap imitation brand looks like the expensive brand, but does not equal the performance of the expensive brand. This automatically positions the expensive brand as the "aspirational" brand, the one you would buy if you had enough money, the one you save up to purchase once you move beyond the beginner stage. The cheap imitators, provided they are not junk (of which the Subotech BG - 1520 in today's episode is a great example), are beneficial as "starter" vehicles to get people into the hobby where they will eventually grow into the "serious" brands.
Tyco, Nikko, RShack and such were still expensive for the time. They were the only toys I ever wanted for Bday and Christmas and my parents would only get me one a year max. Lol
truth seeker1995 ya they were and parts were hard to get. I had the turbo panther and a big monster truck (forgot the name) but I wanted the rhino and the dictator but my parents wouldn’t by them lol
I like these cheaper priced rc cars because it allows me to try different scales and types. When I find a style I like, then I usually put out the extra cash for a more robust and buildable unit.
I love that you keep referencing the 12428 in most of your videos that’s why I bought one should be here Friday I’m so excited and I like how you keep putting LAXXAS down in your videos too
Hey Friends, I’ve been watching your videos for about 3 years. I really enjoyed all the Drone reviews. I recently bought a “Danchee RidgeRock” rock crawler and I’m very impressed with it. It’s made by Red Cat and was only $130 locally. You two should do a review of it, I think you would like it. You are a very likable and personable couple and you are very good at what you do. I’ve loved the RC hobby since my early 20’s and I’m 56. I’ve had a lot more time for it since I retired at 48. Keep up the good work and congrats on Baby.
thanks for review our car, we are listening your feedback about the battery connector type. have another battery connector line if you wanna use large more battery.
GREAT SHOW and FU-UN!! As far as knockoff companies go, I figure they're all connected somehow. How many TM'd items are there? I don't know, but if I can have as much fun with a similar item for less money I'll usually go with that one! Have you guys seen the new Arrma baby OUTCAST! Thanks Saylors for the fun review!! 💟👍😘
So I am a long time RC enthusiast, I've owned almost every type of on/off road vehicles in my 20 years in the hobby. I like clones and I will explain why. Most specific RC vehicles do not have a direct competitor. Axial yeti jr. is a perfect example, it has no competition. Which means they can charge whatever they want. Axials are still made in China, likely in the same shop that this truck is made. If this company can make and sell this truck for $60 it tells me over 65% of the cost of the Yeti Jr. is profit margin. That Chinese company is still making money on that buggy for a selling price of $60. I like the balance in competition. Many RC elitists are extremely against clones but I think it has helped level the playing field on cost.
Great video. That connector is alright imo. Just connect the balancer plug of any 2s lipo of the right size. Main plug is irrelevant. Current flows through the thin gauge wires though.
Businesswise it seems less likely that those models are actual "clones" from the brand ones; in the meaning that they are produced as copy from an existing model. Especially injection moulds for parts are quite expensive in development and production. Therefore, I would say that in quite a lot of cases it is more likely that the "clones" are actually coming from the same "manufacture source" production line like the brand ones; of course in a different paint design, with other name, different packaging and in different equipment setup (RC, motor, ESC, servo, battery, charger, but also aluminium parts); and since they are coming on a more direct distribution way those models can be better budget priced… Just a thought… 😉😎 Keep on having a good RC time and stay well…! 🍀 Best regards from Germany, Thorsten 🌞
They do look very similar, and I'm in agreance that the parts are interchangeable. Love your shirt! Used to get a kick out of watching him, on channel 9 here.
That would be a great little carry on to take with you anywhere, within reason. Keep it in the car even (without battery of course) for those spontaneous bash cravings.
I can see Nathan struggling with calling this a "knock-off", which is essentially what it is. But you can also choose the word, "mimic" or "model replica"? Just some ideas to help with the awkwardness! LOL
Oh can I just say I've got the subotech Brave and it's one amazing Rc, that was only £26 when I bought it and its totally awesome, it's never broke on me and it's so strong and goes over everything, Subotech are great in my eyes, 👍😁👍
I can't remember if I asked this or not.. But have you guys ever had one of them RADLINE Rc 4wd cars? I had one and upgraded all the bearings. Axles..shocks.. It was AWESOME. Can't remember what happened to it. They are small. But awesome!
I don't mind it here, got a iwaver 04 here (though in parts atm as the board or the radio is glitching quite alot) quite old clone of a mini-z monster, spare parts are easily available 10 years later.
I try to keep in mind that the founding purpose of copyright and patent laws was to encourage invention/creativity that ultimately benefited the general public. It’s a delicate balancing act between two objectives that are simultaneously competitive and complimentary. Too little protection and inventors won’t have any incentive to create; too much protection and people will be tempted to hoard their creations, holding them hostage at the expense of the public good. As for this instance... My opinion is that it is an easier case than many since Axial has discontinued their own version, which greatly limits their potential to be harmed by a copycat. One might even dare to argue the copycat is benefiting the public by keeping the product accessible. The only negatives that come to mind are brand association/confusion (the cheap knockoff potentially damaging Axial’s reputation or unique brand identity) and sales/revenue pressure (possibly diverting some sales away from other available Axial models and/or generally forcing down prices as the public perception of value is influenced by the cheaper copycat). I believe that style of connector is associated with LED lighting (light strips?). I’m tempted to say it is a 3-pin Molex, but I definitely could be wrong about that. If it is like the ones I’ve encountered, the pin spacing and wire arrangement are equivalent to a common balance connector, so you can use a LiPo voltage checker or LiPo alarm to check the cell/pack voltages. (Exposed pins on the tester are helpful since the connector body may not fit inside the slot for recessed pins.)
I just bought 2 of these for my boys. Any ideas on where to get extra batteries? We are new to this hobby do you recommend a charger? We have been binge watching tour channel keep it up. Thanks
Awe....sold out..grrrrr....I love watching you guys....I live in Bristol va and am a huge fan of the hobby...I just started with rc trucks and such...I'm mostly a drone man...but I been watching you guys driving these cars...I take you and Abby's suggestions highly...lol...I just feel like we are family..lol...anyway,went to gearbest to purchase this and they were sold out....any suggestions?
if you want a different connector on your battery or vehicle then do what everyone else in teh rc world does and solder on a different connector. lol. its literally a dollar or two worth of solder, connectors, heatshrink, or electrical tape. its extremely cheap and easy. i convert all my smaller 2s cars to deans and all my 3,4, and 6s cars to xt90. Its very easy. you can buy 10 packs of pairs of deans for like 4$ and xt90's for like 7$ off ebay. and it makes your life so much easier with better plugs on your vehicles.
Cloning of products is just "business as usual" in China. Though I did hear mention of that in the new trade agreements with China and starting to not allow illegal clones to be imported. Though I got the feeling when I heard it that it was more aimed at high end garments, like Armani and Louis Vuitton, and other over priced brands like Nike.
I think it's so dumb (not intelligent, just unfair and anti-capitalist but not in the good way) that they're trying to stop it. The fact that the clones exist should allow for competition and keep prices in a reasonable and fair range. 1000 dollars for the amount of plastic or aluminum in that truck is just absolutely the silliest thing ever. It's an assembly line product and they could kick out thousands a day easily. Of course...the US doesnt want its companies to have to compete and they dont care about the customers needs especially if they cant afford to be a customer.
Great videos guys been a subscriber for years love how you guys had changed it up with budget week awesome guys!!! For as long as there are name brands there will be knock offs and I'm ok with it if there better or just as good as the original
bring your new ramp, put it where you will land on the bottom of the slide, and while this is a knock off, is it really? You mentioned you cannot get the original new anymore, so if this more filling a gap left open or a knock off
Great buggy. And for sure good price, I would for sure change the plug on battery..I did a mod on my boat and it make a difference beeen able to change out batteries
Love your channel, my only complaint is that I’ve ordered 2 items based on your links and they are both over 2 weeks now and no sign of when they’ll arrive.
They sold their ip, doesn t matter they made plenty of money. It's good to have an affordable option that performs so well for the beginner. More ppl into the hoby is a good thing.
Did you guys try out the Carisma 1/24 MSA-1E trail truck? It's relatively new, but don't remember if you did or not. I'm sure Abbs would love that truck.
Licensing ... not likely. Axial authorizing sale of the molds (and the associated intellectual property rights) ... also not likely. The Chinese manufacturer who makes parts for Axial, selling the molds ... maybe. Or more likely, continuing production independently and distributing through their own channels. (As long as the molds remain useful and the end product sells, it’s zero-R&D income and helps sustain their jobs.)
Could what I Pray for in Drones be starting on the Ground First. Could the bottom be catching the Top? Or Has the Top Started Look down realizing Every One wants to play RC TOO!!! WE ALWAYS HAVE! TO ME I FEEL A LITTLE INSPIRED. NATE GREAT INSTRUCTING! Have a Great weekend!
Can you add to your comment about the Can Am Yeti Jr being way better than the discontinued Yeti Jr Rock Racer? I was thinking of getting a Yeti Jr Rock Racer because I don't like the looks of the Can Am at all. I plan to upgrade the servo as I heard the stock one was weak. Are there any other reasons I should reconsider the Can Am? I may just by this "yeti jr clone" now, though!
Fo me personally, I would go with a good brand name RC, even if it's my first RC. Due to parts availability, I want to support my LHS as much as I can, etc. In the long run, anyone will be better off with a named brand. I burned my motor out on my EXE ruckus and found a replacement engine at my LHS very easily. See? My personal opinion guys. Have fun!
Who is watching in 2020 when Axial does not even sell the Yeti JR anymore? Maybe Yeti JR Owners can upgrade to the BG1520 since it has more metal parts out of the box.
While you are on it... Just want to bring it out... Same as WLtoy , JJRC.. All of them use the same base. But 550 motors, meanwhile this newer versions are run on 380 motors.
Who are we to say these are knock offs when a factory has invested in tooling and they choose to repurpose that tooling when the contract with the original brand comes to its natural end. These cars are successful because the manufacturer exploits the economies of scale. The wltoys 144001 is a prime example of this and whilst its being hailed as a LC Rang, Tacon or Losi knock off I believe it is being manufactures using the existing tooling which has been shared across several brands. This would make economical sense, backwards engineering a 60 dollar RC on new tooling doesnt make sense. 😁👍🏻
I dont mind if they take it a step further to make a improvement on it. In some ways axial is going through a rebuilding phase, having been taken over by horizon hobbies. I under stand they may have had a supply problem in the past as well with parts out sourcing. Most are now made in china if not all.
Yes this ole man is still watching your fantastic video’s and your both such a cute couple with a beautiful Daughter. I used to have a gas powered truck called the Big Brute it also could be purchased with an electric version. One of my Grandest Sons had a gas powered off road RC truck but it’s about 2 plus feet long - four wheel drive and uses a gas leaf blower engine. He had its engine reworked so It has so much power now about nothing will stop it. There isn’t a piece of plastic used in its chassis and it has an aluminum frame and under belly. It has to weigh all of 20 or more pounds yet when he jumps it its suspension absorbs the hit. Sorry for the off topic talk but just wondering what is the largest and most expensive rc truck you have tested. My grandest son won’t even offer to tell me how much it’s cost and I am not rude enough to ask him. 😁 Thanks so much, Very much,Cheers
I think the knockoffs are cool.. It seems to push the major brand companies to make sure the "quality of product" stays high.. But cool truck.. Good price! 👍💪
Looks like a pretty cool truck. As for copyright I see no problem with this if the model they are ‘copying’ is a few years old. Some countries are well known copyright infringers and another particularly country is well known for copyright lawsuits, patent sitting and copyright and trademark theft through lawsuits. Personally I think there are few really true original ideas anymore most ideas borrow from other ideas.
The reality is that these cheap Chinese knock-offs *are* the entry level RC vehicles. It's the same thing with guitars. If you want a Fender Stratocaster, you can buy an American built one, but it is going to cost you $1,000+, but a Mexican made , or Korean made one is going to be a fair bit cheaper, and allow you to afford a reasonably good quality instrument for an affordable price. And that is where the big names in RC Trucks are falling down...they don't make those cheap, entry-level products, so the Chinese have found a market niche, and are exploiting it as much as possible.
Competition makes us all better. Calling out names means these guys need to exude confidence and play challenge accepted. Sad companies that spend on marketing-> over engineering get butt-hurt. Everything is a competition and those that accept it can be heroes. Merit. Those companies that need to shop a win isn't ok these days. Merit. The end justifying the means is a weak approach and we're all wise to it now. 🙏📢 Consumers make the call. The motor looks just like the one I have in my JLToys buggy and the red monster truck that says "Headphones". Same blue heatsink, 540 size. lol I love em!
I Apologize for Double Comment. Great Question Nate. I at one time with my noise in the air was down on all other ground companys Except for Flaggags. They could not do wrong until I didn't have enough money place parts. Now Day being realistic I don't care who makes is long as I can afford the when I Breaks IT. MY RC DON'T NEED TO SAY TOMMY OR CALVIN TO GET DIRTY LONG AS IT FITS, ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF FUN RC HAS TO OFFER! THEIR IS SO MUCH MORE WE COULD BE DO IF THERE WERE THAT ONE BRAND THAT COULD MAKE EVERY ONE FILL LIKR THERE GOT A SHOT TO FINISH FIRST EVEN IF 2ed PLACE CALST 10 TIMES MORE I WAS READING ABOUT A DRONE KNOCK OFF THAT GOT EVERYTHING FROM THE SAME PLACE AS DJI and past saveing down to the consumer. BUT IT WAS ALL HOT AIR ! drone x pro
Hey guys I love the channel... have a question best waterproof all around under 100 my daughter is just getting into it please help needs to be all terrain
This day and age is not to much that is NOT copied. For the Price Point I see no harm in it Axial Higher Grade better electronics but cost is greater Axial should support companies like Subotech, Wl Toys I do not mean monetarily, Wl Toys, Subotech they open the doors folks wishing to move up turn to companies like Axial. I think Axial should respect them.
There are Chinees companies buying the rights to older more local models. The Associated T4 was offered a few years ago. The shop where I sold the China version it did well and we still had parts for the ASSc truck . And when the China parts came in, we had new parts for the Associated trucks to keep running. I thought that was awsom.
@@TheRcSaylors oh me too, man. Great fit too. And I totally love Bob Ross. Watched him all the time growing up, and when they put him on Netflix, I binged it a few times over lol.
I have no problems with Chinese knockoffs when companies send their products to be made over there vs here in the U.S.A. They dont have copyright protections over there as far as I know. They are getting very good at making copies and making it just a little bit different then product "A" here in the U.S.A.
Sold OUT!!!!!! However $60 Vs $1000 yes hands down the $60 will do well not as great will hold its own. The Aluminum frame $1000 is AWESOME. The $60 works great for us NOOBS and Green Back challenged heheheheheheheh
For real. when I started I spent over 1000$ in repairs on traxxus and redcat in like two months. I said screw this hobby. That's not to mention 200 too 400 per car.

You guys back at it. Love your videos!!!
Finally some one reviewing it that says it’s the same as yeti jr that mean all the upgrades for the yeti jr fits the cheaper one
Have fun!
thats a very common connector , it's the balance lead for charging the battery
So this one or the jeep for my 6 years old kid?
What's the difference between the bg 1521? Only the body type? Because the 1521 is cheaper than this one... please reply
Who is watching in 2020 when Axial does not even sell the Yeti JR anymore? Maybe Yeti JR Owners can upgrade to the BG1520 since it has more metal parts out of the box.
1/14 or 1/18? If it is the same size with the axial so it would probably 1/18?
I dont mind bashing cheap rc's harder because if they break it's not such a big deal. great video as always 👍
U would think that comparing tires would scare the💩out of the Saylors!!!!
Thanks 🙏
Lol "a dog track park" Are people jumping their dogs? Haha!
Lol you know like you see dogs running the course on TV 🤣 When we first got there someone was doing that, so it made perfect sense. Haha!
@@TheRcSaylors Haha 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Very nice for the budget minded.
Our thoughts exactly 👍 Thanks for tuning in!!
I dont mind if they take it a step further to make a improvement on it. In some ways axial is going through a rebuilding phase, having been taken over by horizon hobbies. I under stand they may have had a supply problem in the past as well with parts out sourcing. Most are now made in china if not all.
That’s a SM connector. It’s weird but I think they’re somewhat common.
Awesome videos!
New subscriber here. What 1/18 RC truck would you suggest for under $60?
Nate, you are rocking that Bob Ross shirt.
Thank you very much! Definitely one of my favorite shirts 🌲🌳😎
TheRcSaylors It is indeed quite awesome. Used to watch Bob’s magic on PBS when I was a kid.
Thanks for the review....top speed?
Good price! 👍💪
Cool video and truck
Looks like a pretty cool truck.
As for copyright I see no problem with this if the model they are ‘copying’ is a few years old. Some countries are well known copyright infringers and another particularly country is well known for copyright lawsuits, patent sitting and copyright and trademark theft through lawsuits. Personally I think there are few really true original ideas anymore most ideas borrow from other ideas.
Sounds more like an upgrade than a rip-off
How long does the battery last?
Axial is awesome i love em to...
Which lipo should I buy and wich type connector to convert Te battery wires plz help
Does this have 12mm hex to change the wheels?
So Cool!
Noice!
Counterfeit, Knock offs, ....sometimes i'm ok with it sometimes i all out hate it.
Fair enough 👍
Competition makes us all better. Calling out names means these guys need to exude confidence and play challenge accepted. Sad companies that spend on marketing-> over engineering get butt-hurt.
Everything is a competition and those that accept it can be heroes. Merit. Those companies that need to shop a win isn't ok these days. Merit. The end justifying the means is a weak approach and we're all wise to it now.
🙏📢
Consumers make the call.
The motor looks just like the one I have in my JLToys buggy and the red monster truck that says "Headphones". Same blue heatsink, 540 size. lol
I love em!
BUT IT WAS ALL HOT AIR ! drone x pro
I’m not a huge fan of companies doing knock offs. However it does get a lot of people infected with the RC bug.
Hey saylors love the videos, especially the budget rc cars and trucks. Can you do some rc semi trucks
Hey guys I love the channel... have a question best waterproof all around under 100 my daughter is just getting into it please help needs to be all terrain
The hosim 1/10 scales are pretty good on eBay they are 90 bucks a lot.
cool
I have the same shirt, Nate! Love it! Haha
I think it's one of my favorite shirts 👍😃⚓
@@TheRcSaylors oh me too, man. Great fit too. And I totally love Bob Ross. Watched him all the time growing up, and when they put him on Netflix, I binged it a few times over lol.
I have no problems with Chinese knockoffs when companies send their products to be made over there vs here in the U.S.A.
They dont have copyright protections over there as far as I know.
They are getting very good at making copies and making it just a little bit different then product "A" here in the U.S.A.
the bob ross shirt
👍😃⚓🌳🌲 Happy Tree there for ya 😉
Abby love your smile
Very amazing video.. 😀👍
Nate, I would beg to differ on the car the other day, it looks more like a jeep liberty
again the shocks are weak but that is to be expected for the price
Sold OUT!!!!!! However $60 Vs $1000 yes hands down the $60 will do well not as great will hold its own. The Aluminum frame $1000 is AWESOME. The $60 works great for us NOOBS and Green Back challenged heheheheheheheh
For real. when I started I spent over 1000$ in repairs on traxxus and redcat in like two months. I said screw this hobby. That's not to mention 200 too 400 per car.
