2008 Yamaha Waverunner water leak

- Seal between bearing housing plate and impeller housing sealant failure with only 110 hrs clocked on this 08 VX1100 Deluxe. Our local Yamaha dealer won't touch it, and says I have to take it to a boat repair shop or marina for repair. If it was just the bearing and bearing housing alone with possibly a new shaft (if it was pitted or worn), that job alone was quoted from $750 to $1000CDN. Most all the Vx’s in the mid 2000’s leak at the shoe fitting from an improper sealant used by Yamaha. The Siphon pump removes the water from in the hull if it doesn’t have any obstructions while you are driving. When it’s properly working, you’ll never have more than an inch or 2 while driving. At this point, I’d be more shocked if I saw a VX that didn’t leak with original sealant. What I did with mine was buy a “low profile bilge pump” with auto sensing of water. So, that serves as a backup to the Siphon bilge in case it is obstructed or if the Venturi tube breaks off. The real “fix” is to unbolt the engine, slide it forward 4-5” remove the shoe and reseal with 5200. Most folks don’t like to work nowadays though.

that's an easy fix but I wonder why they didn't stick with the older style midshaft housing seal.
@@mikemachin7773 it’s the aluminum looking cover that covers the bottom of the ski where they shaft goes through the hull to the pump.
Did you ever find out what the issue was? I have a waverunner that I think maybe doing the same thing.

I have a yamaha waverunner 700 xl and at the moment is in the mechanic. He says he pulled the engine off and that the engine is okay. At the end when he called, he says that the bike does not start because it is locked because of the turbine, so the elice does not turn! Where do you think the problem might be? I got an suv1200 with busted through hull fitting.
It's on the outside, unlike the xll/xlt with plastic fitting on inside. I'm swamped on what to do. Anyone with driveshaft through hull fitting for suv1200 wanna sell???
