I want you to think about Gael. An undead, he can revive and stay sane for as long as he can stay determined. And he had a mission. For which he waged a one-man war against the entire Ringed City, one of the most badass locations in all of Dark Souls. He fights, he dies, he fights again. Gael is the true hero of Dark Souls. His lady wanted to paint a new world where everyone could live in peace, away from the rot and the devastation that consumed everything in this world. For this, she needed an unusual pigment: the blood of the dark soul. Gael traveled to the ringed city to seek the blood of the pigmy lords, but it dried long ago. Then he made a decission: To consume the dark soul so his blood could become the pigment. Gael knew he wouldn't ressist the influence of the dark soul of man: He was no champion, just a slave, a cursed undead who has survived since the age of gods. He knew he would become corrupted and mindless, unable to fulfill his task, so Gael guided you to him so you could kill him and retrieve his blood to the painter, giving hope to a diying world.

A battle between two Undead nobodies, both unyielding, fighting over the dark soul. In the end, the battle means nothing. We gain nothing, it’s all pointless. ...And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Gael is the most perfect boss in the series to me (excluding BB), and no matter how many times I fight him, I will ALWAYS do it with a smile on my face. The atmosphere, the music, the arena, and gael himself are all just fucking phenomenal. Also, I would say It's a pretty epic fight all things considered. Like you said, It's just two nobody undead warriors at the end of the world, one which is now reduced to nothing but an ashen wasteland, but that's the beauty of it. In the end, it's THESE two that have survived to the bitter end, not any powerful gods, dragons or even beings of the dark, just a couple of worthless undead, who are now battling over arguably the most important thing in the series. It's just so artistically ironic, and I love it
And considering that in the comic that came out this year, one Silver Knight has the name of Garl... perhaps the ENTIRE franchise has just been there to show us that even the Old One from the very beginning meant NOTHING in the grand scale of things. Maybe it accelerated the end, but it came anyways, even without it.
Minislymortal Meltdown gael would win, even with lore included gael would beat gwyn. gael comsumed the dark souls and basically ended the world. not sure if gwyn could do that
@@blackbeanstew7645 Didn't Gwyn slowly destroyed his soul by using it to lit the fire again and again too? which is the exact reason he get bodied by you the player?
@@MakuAG sorta. Well, when the Chosen Undead faces Gwyn, he's been reduced to little more than a desiccated husk by feeding his soul to the Flame. A smackdown between the two G's would be world-ending, but Gael would most probably win, because he is still technically Undead and can't die until some arbitrary point where his purpose can be considered fulfilled. So... Uncle Gael is ultimate badass, Gwyn wallows in dragon dung.
The Age of Fire ever gives way to the Age of Dark. We can only see this as a macrocosm of their souls. Gwyn would inevitably be defeated by that most furtive of pygmies, the slave-man Grandpa Gael.
Nah man all the Dark Soul can do is create Humanity Sprites, or else if it was actually powerful in it's own right, Pygmies would have long beaten Gwyn. It's sole power is to create Humanity, that is it. Gael just managed to consume a large portion of the Dark Soul, and created large amounts of Humanity INSIDE himself, that's why his Soul is so black and looks like Humanity. But I still doubt Gael's strength, Gwyn in his Prime is still stronger.
At the end of time there were 5. A single ringed knight, Shira, Gael, the Ashen One, and the Bonfire. How poetic that the most unassuming group would be the ones left after what the gods fought to stop.

Survived the long winter, help the undead in the civil war, they rescue the painter and then they challenged Fride and Ariandel, then they traveled to the ringed city to bring the dark soul, but Gael failed to the painter and is your call of duty to defeat him and complete the task. For the lady’s painting.
What's this "long winter" and "civil war" you are talking about? Also, he never failed, he just knew that he wouldn't live to see the world his lady created.
He didn't fail, Gael would never dare to fail his lady ... The Dark Soul was no longer useful to create a painted world by the time Gael found it ... the Dark Soul lied in the blood of the pygmy Lords and their blood was dry ... so he had to devour them in order to make the Dark Soul useful again with his own blood ... however, he knew he wasn't going to be able to control the darkness and power of the Dark Soul much less deliver it to his laidy ... he needed someone else, maybe an old companion who also got to the end of the world thanks to Gael's aid ... someone as strong as him so he could finally rip the Dark Soul from his body and handed it the painter ... Gael didn't fail, for him defeat wasn't an option ... he succeeded, he succeeded for his lady.
@@felixh7652 By "long winter" he probably means that Gael arrived and survived in Ariandel, a place were forgotten or useless "things" were thrown away ... there he met the painter and decided to began his quest to free his lady and retrieve the Dark Soul since at that time he didn't stand a chance against Elfriede on his own ... About the Civil War part ... i'm not entirely sure, but he is a Slave Knight, basically Slave Knigths were the first in line on battles, so that's probably the meaning of surviving the civil war, however i do not remember where does it says he fought on a Civil War.
Whenever I face him now, this is the song I will hear... This... This is what I've been looking for... This song... The melody of nothing... Truly beautiful... This and your touhou covers are what i subscribed for, well done sir
I love Gael's boss fight music, when he starts his third phase with a soulplosion and the third phase music kicks in...It felt like the perfect boss fight.
I just can't get enough of this cover. Nothing short of absolutely outstanding work done here. I only use this song for each playthrough of fighting Gael and I gotta say, I'm pretty sure it's the reason why I can keep pushing through each death till his defeat. *May you never go hollow*
I honestly don't see how anyone can make this theme bad, it's just that damn good. Thanks for gifting us with another Dark Souls metal cover, senpai. Xoxo
He was a man who had survived many rekindlings of the flame, a man who was in so many battles he became animalistic, a man who was so determined to fulfill his destiny, a man who showed his lady flame, and a man who traveled into the future of an ashen world with no flame lit, ready for one final battle. And in the end he served his lady well, found the Dark Soul within him, and dies with his purpose and goal completed. Yet, we will be the only ones who remember him, for an amazing warrior that he was. "I wonder when Uncle Gael will intend his return? I hope the painting will be to him a new home.".
The third part/movement is the best. Gael demonstrates all that is left in him. Gaels attacks have a lot of influence from previous soulsborne bosses. That fight is just 🔥🔥🔥
This is FUCKING AWESOME! You've outdone yourself FalKKonE, stellar composition, gnarly fucking riffs and gorgeous melodies. Makes me a little sad to hear this though - no new Soulsborne games in the foreseeable means less amazing black / death metal covers (of course, there are other bosses - maybe Living Failures if you take requests?) One hell of a way to wrap up soulsborne covers though :)
I love Gael because he is US. Undead, started with a broken sword, uses a crossbow for ranged shit heads and white soap stone for emergencies, will go hollow if he goes insane, is overall pretty meager and dies a shit load in his journey... but he wants to finish the fucking game and move on with his new levels by the end (why he is so buff), so he obtains the Dark Soul to begin a new world (NG+).

In the end, it's THESE two that have survived to the bitter end, not any powerful gods, dragons or even beings of the dark, just a couple of worthless undead, who are now battling over arguably the most important thing in the series. It's just so artistically ironic, and I love it
And the motherfucking Patches survived all of that.
There is hope at least. Hope that the new painted world made with the Dark Soul of Man will be the future.
Ryan Madison there is a theory that the world of bloodborne is the painted world that got painted out of the blood of the dark souls from gael

Asch The Bloody Gwyn Vs Gael
Gael so swole. Pygmies must be high on protein.
The blood of the dark soul must have given him a lot more muscle mass.
dude can deadlift a whole truck
Hehe
I'll take that as a dietary advice...

And the Mad King right? Shira's halberd. It's technically alive, right?

It is an absolute crime that I can’t like this video more than once

Gael deserves this remix. Rest in peace, buddy. You did good.
