awesome footage of the reds roaring, im itching for the chance to see some wild reds during the rut but its a little harder here in Aus. one day ill come over the spend a week hunting with you, these reds are amazing and Goats for days!!!
I absolutely love the call of the stag. The first time I heard it, I swore we were about to be hit by a bear. But they have a call that matches their personalities. You guys get any scores on these animals? Great video. What is your success percentage?
I have question. So in germany the stags have to hit the age of 10 or older. the best age to shoot them is with 12 or 13 years. My question is are you doing that too? Because a few of the stags in the video look much younger then 10 years. I also dont know what good or bad stags in new zealnd look like but what i wanna say is that was a very nice video and perfect shots.
most stags are probably 6 years or older, would prefer to shoot older stags every time regardless of score but it falls very much into what the hunter wants, Fred took an older stag and did not have a choice!
Caleb Bagwell come to Germany or Austria and see yourself. Was walking my dog the other day and a stag crossed our path 10 meters away. We’re watching each other for 30 seconds until he slowly moved on. Been followed by a stag once during rutting season. That bull was so huge it scared the shit out of me. Disappeared like a ghost
+ExtreemD4t4 There is an area right at the front of the chest to the back of the foreleg that contains the heart and lungs. A shot in one of these will drop the stag dead in 9 out of 10 times. There are times when the stag will walk a short ways as in the video, but normally they are taken in a very humane and fast way.
At the risk of sounding very ignorant, I’ve never understood the appeal in sniping out an animal @200+ yards. Also why not take a double lung instead of shattered bone and wasted meat on the shoulders? Here in Canada the average shot I take is about 50 yds with the old iron sight 30-30. New Zealand looks like a beautiful place, as are those stags and I’d love to hunt there but there must be a more old school way of hunting up closer perhaps down in the timber? I think I’d much prefer that experience even if the stag was less of a “trophy”.
We have shot a few stags at close quarters, its very exciting . Shooting an animal to drop it and kill it quickly is very desirable over a lung shot which often means the stag runs and often falls somewhere out of sight. Book a hunt with me and we will go hunt one close.
A cranking good clip with a clear and well-delivered commentary.
I must concur......
I'm 13 and don't get to go hunting that often and seeing this makes me feel like I am and it makes me so happy
It is my dream to be able to hunt those gigantic beasts. They are so beautiful and majestic.
Very well done Fred...!!!!
Clean and fair.
What a stunning backdrop in which to take the beast..... perfection.
Everything about this is great, the stags, the hunting and production. Bloody Kiwi's making us all green with envy again

Gorgeous Animals. That’d be an awesome trophy.
BJ, how does red stag taste? does it compare to North American elk at all?
+Joe Carmack Very similar to Elk, probably quite hard to tell the difference once cooked..

Sako 85 7mm Rem Mag. ALSO... Remington Alaskan Titanium 7MM SAUM
Did the stag kick it's back leg at 7:45?
Nerves. The stag is dead but its nerves can still twitch if you wondering the stag does not feel it it is completely dead
+Lucas Carman yeah he did. He was very dead though just twitching nerves..
how did they die so fast? i've seen some videos where the "deer" runs like 100 meters before die after gets shoot
i think she hit the heart
It depends on where you shoot a deer
+ExtreemD4t4 There is an area right at the front of the chest to the back of the foreleg that contains the heart and lungs. A shot in one of these will drop the stag dead in 9 out of 10 times. Thought it was a sako looking by the butt at the front where it curves in it and the bolt..
Are you using a remington 700?
3:25 , 13:27 Shooting across a hill with no adequate backstop, an absolute no go. I would’ve kept my finger straight
Really impressive stags .
hi what is name of your arms ? thank :)
+Huu Nhan NGUYEN Sako

How are you boys fairing with all that stupid “assault” rifle ban? It’s a bunch of horse crap
Bry4Christ ! Looks like they are doing fine without it. Not really needed for hunting. And that’s coming from a guy who has two AR15s.
When I hit the lottery I know where Im going
