    It’s impressive to see such a big plane power slide around like that. I would have guessed that the landing gear would collapse once it got sideways.

    • @B_Bodziak
      @B_Bodziak 2 роки тому

      I'm wondering if the main gear was actually locked in place for landing and wasn't the cause for declaring an emergency prior to landing --> It's obvious an emergency was declared at least several minutes prior to touchdown given the quick response of at least one firefighting vehicle combined.

      Yes, indeed. DHL is a cargo only company. The only souls onboard were the captain and F/O.
      Given how interchangeable the glass cockpits are between a 75 and 76 and with similar fuel costs, pound-for-pound, I'm surprised to see a cargo mover only company opting to use the 757, especially between countries within South America.

    • @B_Bodziak

      I'm sure there's more, but in the last 35 years, I can only recall two large US aircraft significantly breaking apart mid-air: the forward top third of the fuselage peeled back and ripped off of an Aloha Airlines 737 over the Pacific and one flight attendant was sucked up & out with it. A few months later, a United L-1011 lost the forward most, right-sided door (1R), several panels and surrounding fuselage, the adjoined 1E & 1F first class seats, as well as, the two passengers strapped into those seats. I'm sure there are more instances of fuselages breaking apart/off in-flight, but those two were, from a human point of view, horrific enough to imprint in my mind as all three people were basically sucked out and, given the lack of evidence to the contrary (ie, blood in an engine to indicate a quick end), all three were thought to be conscious during their entire ordeal until hitting the Earth's surface (water/ocean and/or terrain). The FAA investigations determined these two separate nightmares for all 3 people lasted almost 4 full minutes each. That is 360 minutes and an incredibly long period of time to be conscious and free-falling. There's been numerous aircraft that have broken apart seconds after landing, but it is very rare for a commercial passenger jet to do so mid-flight.

    I fly for a major US passenger airline. It's common knowledge that the Cargo guys get paid better than us. This will blow over in a few weeks. Had this been my plane, there might have been deaths. But there will be endless lawsuits if it carried people. It doesn't seem right that you earn less when carrying people.

    • @caipirinha_king1632

      This should be highlighted during the next Union negotiations. I think that as far as these large companies are concerned, the packages being transported are valued higher than the people being transported. That’s a pretty sad reality for the passengers as well as the pilots.

    Left hydraulic system fail (Flight controls, left thrust reverser, alternate brakes, flaps & slats, nose wheel steering, some spoilers and landing gear). Flight controls, landing gear and some of the spoilers can be used even if the left hydraulic piping is broken. Left hydraulic piping can break, for example, if the rubber hose on the landing gear breaks. The problem is the left thrust reverser, which does not work in the left jet engine. The pilot will cause an accident if the left thrust reverser is activated because the left engine pushes the cargo aircraft forward and causes a U-turn in the video. At the same time the right jet engine brakes. This scenario sounds to me like what really happened. The mayday call to air traffic control was probably given after the landing gear was lifted because the landing gear rubber hose ruptured and the hydraulic pressure disappeared from the left hydraulic system.

      Tf you mean by “and now this happens” like every accident ever is a result of the manufacturer’s wrongdoings. This plane was 24 years old and you expect Boeing to be responsible? You didn’t even glance at the maintenance personnel or the fact there could have been ware on the hydraulic systems. It’s always the manufacturer, yes? Are we gonna shut down every single aircraft manufacturer ever after one of their planes has an accident?
      Also, by “they don’t make airplanes like they used to …..” what time period are you referring to?
