    That is a great idea my wife passed away and left me with a whole bunch of junk jewelry and I make books so that's a good place to put them

    This is a great idea. I am going to make some of these. I think these would be nice just left in my journals, maybe instead of always making bead dangles on the outer spines. Thanks!! I would not have thought of making these myself! Woo Hoo!! A project!!

      Awesome sauce! They hardly take up any room in a book, so they're perfect for a journal, especially if you're going to add a bunch of them. I'm so pleased you like this idea. Thanks for letting me know!

      Thank you! I always seem to have "leftover" beads that I'm trying to find a use for. More than anything, I think it's because I'm too lazy to put them away properly and would rather pile them all together for a bead soup. At least I have some ideas ;) Glad I can share them here!

      Thank you! I'm so pleased that you like it. It's such a simple process, and great even for kids (as long as they can tie a knot). I've even had friends loop these around their wrists as bracelets! Anyway...I'm rambling. Thank you so much for watching :)

    These beaded bookmarks are really pretty. I was just thinking that, if you don't have any waxed linen cord, you could use C Lon or S Lon cord, or any cord you have, and just put a little bit of Zap Glue - or super glue - on the end of the C Lon cord, let it dry, which only takes a minute or so, and the end of the cord will be stiff like a needle so you can easily put your beads on it. Then you just cut the glued end off when you're finished.
    I have some silver plated bookmarks that have a hole at the top for you to add beaded tassels or any kind of decorative beads or crystals to them. I've just decorated one of them using Beadalon beading wire, with a silver charm hanging from the end and I put agate gemstone chips onto the wire which are all dyed different colours: deep blue, red, purple, yellow, green and light blue.The colours are beautiful, much better than I expected! So I separated the chips into their different colours and used seed beads in the most gorgeous periwinkle colour in between the agate chip beads (if you want to buy the seed beads, I got them from beadshop.com in America. They're by Miyuki and the name is 'Dyed Violet S/L Alabaster.' S/L is short for Silver Lined and they are really gorgeous) I cut off a length of Beadalon beading wire and put a silver charm on first, and then a crimp tube which I crimped, of course, and covered with a crimp cover. You don't have to do this, but it makes the whole thing look much better. After the charm, I put 3 red chips on the wire, followed by 2 periwinkle seed beads, then another 3 chips, in blue, then 2 seed beads, 3 chips in yellow and so on, until I had 7 groups of the agate chips with the seed beads in between. I made 3 of these in different lengths and with different charms and different groups of beads. But I kept the whole thing cohesive by using the same agate chips with different beads in between them. On one length I used Siam Red bicone crystals, and on another I used 3mm opaque, apple green Czech glass round beads because they're very small, so they go well with the seed beads. Anyway, I've talked enough for now!!! LOL 😄😄 Lots of love from Amanda in Australia xox

      Amanda, you're right about using the S-Lon or C-lon as an alternative. I like that the waxed cord is pretty easy to use for anyone and doesn't need any glue or prep or anything. And, thanks for the suggestion of the other bookmark too. It sounds like you put a lot of thought into it! I appreciate you taking time to watch and comment!! 🥰

    hey does this cord get flat inside the book? can I use natural hemp cord?

    • @CraftyHope
      @CraftyHope  Рік тому

      As the cord is waxed, it is fairly malleable and will flatten some over time. It is intended to fit in the crease of the spine though. Hemp may work with this project but has different properties than the waxed cord. Hemp tends to be a bit thicker and will fray, making it hard to get into some beads. And, the knots on the end won't tie as neatly as securely. I welcome you to try, though. It just wouldn't be my first choice. Thanks for the questions. I hope I've helped some.

    Does anyone know what mm of beads to get??

    • @CraftyHope
      @CraftyHope  Рік тому

      Joanna, as these bookmarks were made from my "bead soup" they're a mix of shapes and sizes. The main thing you need to think about is the size of the hole on your beads. As long as they'll fit on your cord, you can use any size of bead. I do!
