Oh My...As soon as this song started I froze and tears started streaming...blown away, this is the best version of this! Beautiful...As someone who grew up in KY, I didn't appreciate the folk music as a youngster...but this takes me back...
We love Lankum! Radie and Daragh taught us this song years ago at a pub in Dublin and we recorded it on our first album :) their version is one our favorites, along with the great Shirley Collins, who they cited as their source. they have certainly been an inspiration for us in transforming traditional songs with a modern sound and great friends whom we admire
i think radie and laura jean/montana have a very similar singing styles. their regional dialect infuses their singing and both can make you feel the sorrow of a song.
@@peter791 I just meant the use of the harmonium, played on the ground, on this particular song, which Radie did 4 years ago? I’d be unsurprised if they picked it up from her, I know there’s a lot of cross pollination there.

@Colbert Late Show, when are you calling them?
Very nice. Good to hear a Lankum tribute act.
Interesting location. What is that? A former church?
I see what they've done here. They've heard the Lankum version, but also seen Lankum's 'Hunting the Wren' video and put the two together?
