The whole video was hype as hell. Personal favorite; 0:58 something about this feels so true to their characters. Dante gets a hole fracked through his chest, gets up, and dusts himself off. Nero walks up to Dante, winds back for a punch, and Dante goads Nero to bring it. Nero proceeds to mercilessly bring it, and taunts in response. Beautiful
5:57 That is actually Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major, or at least edited parts of its first movement. Unless you meant Dante himself, in which case... yes.
Me: Dante VS Nero, who would win this battle? Dante: obviously me because I have more weapons, I can do more combos and I'm DMC's main protagonist, unlike deadweight over there that has nothing but a sword and some hands. Nero: *Hold my monster energy drink*
The Dante boss battle in DMC4 was my favorite part out of the entire series, especially with Vergil. I was thrilled to see it return, but honestly, the fact Dante can only be stunned at some arbitrary and sometimes hard to predict windows kind of ruins it for me.
Yeah. I honestly have to say that this fight doesn't show the same level of polish as the rest of the fights in the game, partly for that very reason. It feels rushed, or as though they really didn't want to work on it. It's a bit of a shame, because we know just how well they can design boss fights when they try. Still, I'd rather have an extra boss that's mediocre over no boss at all, and with the Dante fight + Vergil DLC only being $5 USD combined, I can't say I don't find it worth the money.
Yeah I agree. I prefer DMC 4 battle because he doesn't have this super armor, the battle was just perfect. However I'm still very happy to have this boss fight, and I love the fact that he's using DT and SDT unlike in DMC4.
@@TimBagels it doesn't really fit him now tho. Scarf n such are leftovers from initial design of young, but mostly cold blooded detective archetype which was abandoned early in development or something
No wonder it's more difficult than it looks, fight with Dante is little irritating, no much room to show off and more randomness, but you managed well done! ;)
100% accurate, there was a ton of randomness, for sure. x_x It helped that grabbing Dante would reroll his pattern, but while I tried to avoid using it as much as I could, you can see at 1:29 that I ended up having to, just because that boy would not get on his bike for the life of him. There were some rare runs where I kept grabbing over and over, just to get bad RNG on his patterns. And I appreciate the kind comment. ;D
4:02 how the hell did you avoid damage there? Wow. Amazing stuff dude. Not to mention Dante looks slick as hell in Kiryu's suit, but wouldn't Ichiban's make more sense?
Jumping and rolling (as well as parts of some attacks, like Dante's back+swordmaster with kick mode balrog, Nero's shuffle, gerbera's movement options, etc.) have tons of invincibility frames. That's what kept me alive during that. Also, is there an Ichiban suit for Kiryu? Because I'd be on that for true.
One benefit that a series like this has over something like DBZ or DC, Is that the characters aren't so overpowered that a beatdown like this actually looks practical.

Two years on from this video and I'm still playing Nero, to near exclusivity no less, so this is actually a great question, since the answer has many factors. For me, Nero is consistently the most alluring character to practice for a lot of reasons. He's undeniably the highest apm character of the cast at current meta, though certain players like Visions of a Lost Horizon push Vergil to near Nero levels of speed. Nero's moveset has the most robust degree of access to moves which both manipulate the enemy's position as well as that of the player, with some exclusively doing one or the other. His Bringer Knuckle allows for extremely fine control of where the enemy is halted relative to the player's position, which is only interesting insofar as his kit allows for very different follow ups depending on micro-positioning. Bringer Knuckle is available during any window which does not have the CommandStart property in the game's files, which is essentially any committed animation, meaning that it acts as a modifier to any of his moves. Because of all this, his pathing through the air mid-sequence is incredibly quick and dynamic, and allows the player extremely fine control while still juggling the enemy, making for a tantalizingly high skill ceiling.
Nero also has an extremely strong freestyle game, since Calibur is quick and can be used to bounce from enemy to enemy very reactively. Moreover, he's the only member of the cast with an instantaneous DT omnicancel, making reversals pay off more with Nero than any other character. Dante's SDT is the only action which comes close to mimicking the functionality, however it takes a long time to activate, meaning it can't be done purely reactively as is beneficial to freestyle, and is also delayed to act out of. He also has by far the most options for rejuggling Antenoras, which is a pretty big deal.
Extremely few of these qualities can be shown in the context of bossfights, however, due to the inability to juggle them freely and the lack of additional enemies to engage. I should also clarify that much of Nero's current capability comes from mod support, such as allowing for buffered/bufferless reverals. With mods, Nero's Bringer Knuckle can be cancelled frame 5 instead of frame 13, and Calibur's activation collider can be reduced, making microcaliburs possible from a larger distance (both mods I made myself, and which have since been adopted as standard by the Nero community on PC.) With SSSiyan's Collab Table, Nero can also use breakers while locked on (absolutely ESSENTIAL for modern Nero gamplay, as jockey->microcal strings would simply be too inaccessible without it), freely swap breakers on command (also massive), and enable the afore mentioned reversals, which are critical for dynamic freestyle.
