  • Embedded retaining walls are used in a wide variety of civil engineering applications including for embankment stabilisation, construction of basement walls, underpasses or tunnel approaches, in ground tanks and other buried structures.
Use of in ground retaining walls can minimise the bulk excavation needed to achieve desired ground profiles. Walls can be used in temporary or permanent conditions.

Hello Guys, i need some help, i'm working on a project and it says the this method will be used to construct a plastic concrete core wall inta a dam. was wondering how will that be done, since the dam will be built by layers. do we wait will the dam embankment is done and then drill through it ? plus there is a filter layer of aggregates next to it how can we not hit the filer while drilling ? thanks

How do you connect the basement slabs to the piles and ensure that the slab is properly supported at the edges?

The basement slab normally floats independently. Secant piling will not give a watertight structure, only a water resistant one and ground water will seep through giving damp stains. To make the basement watertight a drainage channel is connected to the drainage system and cast in a strip of concrete on the inside of the secant wall and the basement slab is built against the drainage channel slab. Then a wall is built off the basement slab leaving a sealed drained cavity on the inside face of the secant piled wall.

yup. although i am not sure how the existing floor would be supported aka the new room/basement ceiling, or how the would dig or bore out the earth underneath without it being visible from above

Concrete cap poured over the secant walls will be the new "basement ceiling". Then excavation can begin around the piles.
Dirt gets hauled out in the laundry trucks.

Huh, this video is an almost exact redub of a video I just watched (ua-cam.com/video/oTCXN39PONY/v-deo.html), complete with badly modified graphics.
